As Riley Hill's thirtieth birthday approaches, she's finally ready to make some changes in her life.
She might be a world famous actress, but she's far from where she wants to be.
Screenwriting has always been her dream, not acting.
There was also the small matter of coming out.

When Laura Foley is approached at a coffee shop by an attractive young woman who wants to turn her book into a movie, she's both flattered and stunned.
This was the first time anyone had ever complimented her work in person and not via an online review.
Laura's even more shocked when she finds out who that woman really is, one of Hollywood's biggest stars.

**'Writing is part magic, part craft. There's nothing a writer can do about the magic...'

Mediocre read!
2.5stars! Chemistry? maybe a teensy-weensy -- plus the storytelling is no page-turner...

This is Emma Collin's best book by far. I love the chemistry these two have even though there's some back and forth about whether they should really be interested in one another.
Laura's dealing with grief and Riley is trying to juggle her public and personal lives.
When they do get together, it's hot and worth the wait.
If you're into age gap romances, definitely check this out. It's in Kindle Unlimited too. Always a bonus.

This was an okay read. Its my first book by this author. Its a typical Hollywood romance.

Riley Hills is an actress whose real dream is to be a screenwriter. She decides to change her career and approach Laura Foley who is the author of the book Riley want to make into a movie. Riley is a closeted lesbian and Laura lost her partner 10 years ago.

Its an age gap romance, there is 14 years gap betwern the leads. They had a good chemistry and sex scenes were good but they were going back and forth about getting together. Laura haven't been with anyone since the loss of her partner but I didn't actually get any vibes she is still grieving hard for her partner. And their reason to be apart from each other was silly (or was there actually any reason).
Their misunderstanding situation solved pretty easily and they still didn't get together. Then almost 1 year of not seeing each other and then suddenly they were together again. All of it felt very silly.

Overall it was okay so I didn't either love or hate it. There wasn't anything new or exciting in this book. Writing was okay so maybe I'll read another book from this author.

My first book by this author so I really had no expectations there ! I can’t say I fell in love with the book or the characters but at the same time it didn’t bother me at all! I enjoyed it but don’t expect fireworks :)
Solid 3 .

I don't think I've read this author before, so this was a welcome treat.

Hollywood romances usually grab my attention. AND it involves a closeted popular actress + a introverted lesbian author? Very nice. The main ladies are Riley and Laura, respectively. The moment they first met, I was invested in them becoming a couple.

This particular book was caught in a four-book shuffle I've been handling, so I'll let you know it's a quick read. I enjoyed their chemistry and the love scenes were pretty steamy, yes.

If I were to throw out a note, it'd be a use a few less ellipses. I'll look forward to reading more from Emma Collins!

This was cute, the chemistry was there. I always enjoy a Hollywood storyline.

I felt like it was a little rushed, though. And there was a lot of waffling back and forth by one of the MC.

A heartwarming age gap romance

Riley is a closeted lesbian actress that has dreams of being a screenwriter. She has trouble coming up with a fresh idea, so she decides to practice by adapting a favorite book. Once written, it is good enough to run with but she needs to get permission from the author...

I liked the characters and how often they interacted despite living entirely across country from each other. Their past experiences caused most of the conflict. It was all very believable and kept me engaged. It tugged on my heart strings several times.

It wasn't without issue, though. Several places 'was' was used instead of 'were.' Some editing issues 'kind of sort' instead of either 'sort of 'kind of. And the lead actress was described as having a stylish home in Bakersfield. Which is just... not likely.

But I really enjoyed this.

I recommend those that are interested in romance, loss, celebrity, coming out stories, following dreams, and wardrobes full of white pants/shorts.

An okay read to me. I have to admit, My feeling wasnt in it. More like i couldnt get myself into it. I feel like both main character doesn’t stand on the same ground. Riley always be the one that look for Laura and took initiate when problems arise. The story also seem moved fast as well. And there was another one near the end of the book, the suggestion that Laura made and the thing that she kind of mad at Riley. It doesnt make sense to me at all. I feel like Riley always bend to Laura’s will. I like Riley but I think i dont like Laura at all.

So, okay read to me. Sex scene was steamy though. 😆

A very nice celebrity age-gap romance. When Riley, a huge actress and wannabe screenwriter, sets her sights on making a film out of one of Laura's lesfic books, a romance tested by distance, time, and vastly different lifestyles ensues. Nicely written, nice characters, and some steamy sex scenes. I look forward to another book by this author.

I struggled through this like through a pile of ironing on a Sunday night...
I’m a big fan of Hollywood romances. But this is not one of them. Riley (accidentally Hollywood star) and Laura (Indy Lesbian author....) manage to fall in love without spending any time together. And when they do, they are second guessing, kissing, second guessing, ... , spending time apart. I have really no idea what they like about each other. We - and they - don’t learn anything about each other really. So, ooooof, I was going to give up on this, but didn’t. It does get a better around 76% in - if you can hold out for that.
If you’re looking for things to make your KU subscription seem worthwhile, you could do much worse. But also, you could do better.

An interesting kindle unlimited read, that ended up delving far deeper than expected.

Riley is 30 and a popular, successful actress, but she wants to call it quits and get into screenwriting like she always originally wanted to do. She's a lesbian who is not out, because her family was deeply homophobic, and she's only had 1 very casual relationship with her manager a few years ago.
She reads lesfic in her spare time (of course) and finds a story she had loved from years ago and rereads it, swelling up with the same emotions from the raw story of love and loss between a lesbian couple, one who succumbs to cancer. She decides she wants to make it into a movie, and writes the screenplay, and goes forth to contact the author and set things up for a movie deal.

Laura the author is 44 and we soon come to realize how deeply personal the novel is to her life. She had a wife she adored, and she died from cancer 10 years ago. The novel was written during her illness and eventually published after her death. Riley treats this with sensitivity and grace, and never pushes or forces Laura, only wanting to tell the story that touched her so deeply. Laura eventually comes around to agree, but also slightly distances herself from the project to protect herself.

They both feel a strong attraction and connection to eachother, and as the movie begins Riley invites Laura out to consult on it and get advice, as they find their relationship deepening, both are wary, and with paparazzi and meddling managers about, could this end the relationship before it even begins?

I really enjoyed their chemistry and vulnerabilities, and it was far more touching that I had originally anticipated.

Another age gap story that captures you and pulls you in until its conclusion. The chemistry between Riley and Laura kept you hooked until the last page. I did not put this one down. Emma Collins writing is so smooth and believable.

Riley Hill is a Hollywood celebrity that would prefer not to be. It has been her life-long dream to be a screenplay writer. She reads and falls in love with the debut novel of a lesbian fiction writer, Laura Foley, and wants to adapt that book into a screenplay. She needs Laura's permission first and sets about tracking her down.

Overall I thought this was a decent read. I did feel it could have been better if it wasn't so disjointed in how the book was written. For the life of me I don't understand why there were so many chapters. Some chapters were only 2 pages long. It's been a long time since I studied English in College, but this drove me nuts. For me it took away from the story being told. As for the characters, they were all likable. The chemistry between the two MC's was good, but they seemed to struggle more than they should have to get to the end (them being in a relationship). I am not slamming this book at all. I just don't think there was really anything that makes this book more than a 3 star book.

Ah, the joy of reading about a woman who writes and the solitariness of it all; and her solitary confinement upended by a woman who wants to share the book written with the world. It's a great read about love lost and love found, again. There's so much depth to the story and I can't share it because it will spoil the read for you who peruses this review.
Well written, succinct wordsmithing and just the right amount of sex.

Didn't put this book down

I really enjoyed this story because of the character Laura. I could appreciate her feelings of loss and isolation. I loved that Emma put all the fears and anxiety an older women might experience into words that made it impossible to stop reading. Great supporting characters, steady plot and inspiration that nobody should take tomorrow for granted, live for today.

Amazing story

Erotic, sexy, romantic and refreshing story. Riley is a famous, gorgeous actress and a closeted lesbian, Laura is a lesbian author, introvert, calm and sexy, this is their Love Unscripted. I definitely recommend it.

Engaging gap romance

I think that struck me the most was the interaction between these 2 characters. It was at times charming and at others intense.

Riley is a famous actress, but rather more down-to-earth than most. Also, she is still hiding at the back of the closet! Laura is a relatively successful writer of sapphic romance. When Riley wants to follow her heart and move from acting to screenwriting, she remembers a book she read many years before that left a deep impression on her because of its love and sadness. This is the story she wants to tell in her first movie screenplay.
From the beginning of this book I was very pleasantly surprised. This is a well written, warm story. It’s not a deep thoughtful book, but it does have several thoughtful moments, and the characters are sweet and caring.
There are several parts that are glossed over - there is a nearly one year gap in the story, where Riley is making the movie. Such a pity we couldn’t see more of that. During that year Laura is writing, and we have very little of their thoughts and heartache for one another during that time. Also Maria, Riley’s manager gets fired. I would have liked to have seen more of that confrontation. It’s not necessary to the storyline, but would have made an interesting scene.

A very nice age gap, celebrity Lesbian romance -- some drama, little angst (sometimes that just gets old). And though things go awry (as they must in any romance novel) they don't then become a train wreck -- hurt without devastation. It's kind of refreshing. And in the end it is HEA with no real surprises. Sometimes it's nice to read a book and not get my guts all knotted up.
