As you can see by my picture, my identity is a bit of a secret. But it's only because I'm not sure I could handle another mom coming up to me and saying she enjoyed one of my books in the pick up line ;) I'm a Midwest raised girl, and after a brief stint on the East Coast, made my way back here. I adore my four little kiddies (born within four and half years of each other!) and my husband is pretty nice, too. I love happy endings that follow steamy starts.

Other than writing, I love to bake, garden, knit, load up the triple stroller and go for a long walk, and read.

And Then It Was You was a delightful novella about a romance between two people from two very different lifestyles.

Austin Seabrooke is the son of the owner of a media empire meaning he’s used to his private life being public. But after breaking up with a woman who loved the limelight, Austin is thinking it may be time to find someone to settle down with. Upon meeting Lexi Moore, Austin is convinced she could be that someone. Lexi’s professional life has never been better with her new job in a new city and when she meets Austin, her personal life is finally heading in a good direction. But someone from Lexi’s past isn’t ready to let her go and her new found happiness is threatened before it has a chance.

Austin enjoys the privilege his parentage has provided him, but at the same time he has become weary of the constant barrage of paparazzi. He has a great relationship with his family which was something I loved. It seemed like one of the biggest things about Lexi that appealed to him was how she was from a completely different world and didn’t care about who he was and in fact at times wished he wasn’t semi-famous.

Lexi works as a political reporter at a newspaper owned by Austin’s father. She is a recent transplant to Chicago and is still trying to adjust to the changes of a big city. I admired Lexi’s dedication to her work and I loved that she didn’t let her new relationship get in the way of her job. Lexi has been dealing with an ex-boyfriend who refuses to accept that their relationship is over and to say she’s relieved to be far away from him is an understatement.

Austin and Lexi’s relationship definitely has hints of love at first sight and at the very least they are instantly attracted to one another. The pair do get to know one another quickly and I liked that Lexi was able to be comfortable enough to tell him about her ex. When their relationship does progress physically, it’s incredibly hot and the sex scenes are fantastically done.

Where this book fell apart for me was in the storyline regarding Lexi’s ex-boyfriend. I understand that the author was likely trying to add in some suspense and conflict to the story but it came out of nowhere. Granted, with everything we learn about the guy, I definitely believe he was capable of what happened, but I personally thought that storyline didn’t fit with the rest of the book.

Overall I enjoyed And Then It Was You and will definitely check out more from the author in the future. I would recommend this book if you’re looking for a quick, sexy read.

Blah.

Austin was the oldest son of news tycoon Rick Seabrooke, the
media giant of the Midwest and is 27 years old. He's a semi-celebrity but only when he's dating someone that craves the publicity. “That’s the great thing about being independently
wealthy; my job is really just an eccentric hobby. Austin owned a
small bookstore in the Old Town neighborhood."

The h is a journalist and just moved from Nebraska to Chicago. She's 27 years old as well. She's known for breaking a story that became national news. She also has an Ex that won't leave her alone.

Overall, I felt the story was bland. There was the stalker and kidnapping part, which was supposed to bring suspense or excitement, but it was all just blah. At least it was a short story and quick to read.

I found this to be a superb storyline that grabs you right from the start keeping you engrossed and on edge throughout the whole book!

Great characters that will keep your interest extremely well. The chemistry, sweetness, and twists in plot kept things interesting. Add in drama and steamy passion and you have a good read.

It is complete with its very own HEA, however, secondary characters are interconnected with other books in the series.
Each book can be read as a standalone or they can be read in order of publication for maximum pleasure *wink, wink*

All-in-all, you would not be reading reviews if you were not already intrigued by the blurb, so I will stick with what you need to know:

You will find plenty of toe curling steaminess with a laugh or two along the way, and smile on your face from their happily ever after. No cliffy, no cheating.

Short read: 177 pages

It was engaging and kept my attention. For a short story it felt like everything was crammed in and had no depth to it. It definitely would work better as an actual novel and more detailed and written out.
For a guy who has a boring basic job that he tries to keep hidden I wouldn’t classify his status as paparazzi worth. When you finally find out what he does as a living, I actually laughed cause I thought it was a joke…
The ex boyfriend storyline had more of a hook and the ex girlfriend was more of a sinker.

Austin has a history of playing hockey in school & is now in an adult league. Very thin basis for shelving this as a "sports romance", I know ... but here it is anyway. LOL

Very easy to follow, and the characters knew what they wanted. She spoke her own mind, so she set a good example for Austin, when it came to communication to bolster their fledgling relationship.

I'm satisfied with how the baddies got their comeuppance in the end.

The Seabrooke family has three handsome sons and a fierce daughter. This series has unique midwestern plot points and a quick pace to keep readers engaged. The heroine didn’t sit on her doorstep waiting for rescue. Can’t wait to see how the rest of Austin’s siblings find their matches!

Cute Love Story

I really appreciated how Lexi and Austin started their relationship and how it progressed. Their conflicts are relatable but at the same time non toxic. I loved their cute little love story

DNF @ pg 43/175; 24%. Book is written in 3rd person pov & I can’t stand that for a romance. Was really getting on my nerves. There was also something childish with the writing. This just wasn’t for me.

Short book but really good. Loved the romance but the smidge of mystery/thriller in there. Really made it a good book. Also loved the chemistry between Austin and Alexandra.
