ILLUMINATI Societatea secretă care a deturnat întreaga lume

Rate this book

In his initial foray, Crossfire – The Plot That Killed Kennedy, Marrs cemented himself as a top-tier caliber researcher not afraid to question the official narrative, and rightly so. From there, in Rule By Secrecy, Marrs followed suit connecting the dots between the secret societies known as Freemasons, The Trilateral Commission with the mysterious Great Pyramids, and even more. Marrs’ insatiable thirst for mystery showed us with The Rise Of The Fourth Reich that there were not only malignant fascist elements embedded deep within America, but they remain unchecked, as the blatant rise of fascism is taking hold will show. Population Control showed us that the comptrollers have a completely different plan that doesn’t involve most of the global populace.

Now, in The Illuminati, Marrs continues his high level of research exposing what is arguably the most well known secret society of them all: The Illuminati.

The book delves into (1) the Origins of the order in a rather extensive overview. It also covers how (2) Germany, (3) Zionism, (4) Freemasons, all connect. From there, how the (5) Church connects into this is given a cursory glance. The (6) Methodology employed by the Illuminati is covered in reasonable fashion, while the (7) Suppression of the order is also examined. What role the Illuminati played in the (8) Revolutions of France, America and Russia is reviewed, while the (9) Modern Illuminati and its influences in (10) Pop Culture as gone through as well.

Overall, the evolution of the order is catalogued quite well by Marrs, as well as many of the implications therein. Many historical avenues are examined, some more than others, but a vast array of information is brought to bear for incisive individuals to follow upon.

Given that humanity is at a crossroads between a tsunami of fake news and a vortex of deception with many hidden agendas behind the scenes, one of the main values of this book will be in individuals coming to realize that there is in fact veracity to some of what they hear about the Illuminati.

The Illuminati will be an indispensable resource for understanding our current world and how many of the systemic issues have come about. Anyone who has ever contemplated how this has historically taken place needs to read this book. All who have read an of Marrs’ work know what to expect. For those that haven’t, this is an excellent starting point. But realize the trails that the author has shed light upon are merely starting point.

This is my first and probably my last Jim Marrs conspiracy rag. It was repetitive and disappointing. There is nothing worth reading in this beast.

An objective look at the Illuminati - somewhat haha - but still 5 stars

I was looking for an objective look at the Illuminati. I don't believe in the rumors of sorcery and all the other things - but they are a real group.

Jim Marrs explains their origins from a mostly objective perspective - though he is so enmeshed in all of this - not in a bad way - that it's not exactly a dry report.

But Jim Marrs is not wearing a tinfoil hat here - though he goes deep, he is a real author, and this tale is worth it.

I highly recommend this to just about everyone. Five stars !

Again I was really trying to learn about what is this thing people talk about and call the Illuminati. It's not that I believe in it or I don't believe in it. I don't at all know what it is.

So many books I've read show 'evidence' of the Illuminati in pictures on currency, hints in architecture, etc, but still: What is it? What does it do? And similar questions have never been answered satisfactorily in anything I've read.

So, I started this book. Again, no information.

It was a waste of time and energy so I stopped reading it.

A bit of rehashed research from his earlier works, and not as articulately demonstrated, kinda being all over the place. I definitely enjoyed Our Occulted History a lot better than this one, still if you're new to falling down the rabbit hole that is how the Illuminati still works today, controling virtually everything, and if you have no idea about any of this, then yes, I know how it sounds, but it's all right there, what you do with the knowledge is up to you. If you are interested in a starting point, this would be a mediocre primer, but it definitely reveals some information that some readers may find shocking and at times racist, if I am understanding some of the sentiments correctly. It doesn't focus too much on one thing, other than a lot of anti-catholicism and does so while weaving those resentments into the secret societies that are indoctrinating our future leaders and followers, some being born into the lifestyle. It does all seem far-fetched, but so did the idea of Trump for president, so there you go. Sometimes the best method of uncovering truths is to believe only half of what you hear. Of course the only problem is which half. When it comes to the global elite running this world, there are many truths and many lies, and many manipulations of each in the form of disinformation. Take the red pill, or take the blue pill, and all that and on and on.
When it comes to discussing all the history of different secret societies, how the elite has been with us orchestrating the whole shite from the beginning, and then when you start understanding mechanisms they've used for secretly taking control of the governments of the world, then you'll maybe have a somewhat revealing glimpse of the much, much bigger schemes going on in this world that are particularly prescient and relevant to our current events. Again, I'd recommend Our Occulted History over this one, but this one was alright.

Well, I finished it. An interesting book full of research on the topic. It was "enlightening" (a little Illuminati humor there for ya), but I can't say I believe everything. There's probably some truth in here, but especially considering their secretive M.O. of "talking out of both sides of their mouth", the Illuminati has likely done an excellent job of shrouding the real truth. Plus, I'm just not a conspiracy theory guy.

I am a firm believer in the power and importance of symbolism. It's a major reason that I studied English in college, and it's why I've struggled with getting another tattoo (I have one: it's the scene of the cross, as a reminder that Jesus died for our sins)...I don't want to inadvertantly choose a symbol that means something that I'm not aware of and don't believe in (perhaps even being diametrically opposed to!). But I like what the author said toward the end of this book: "It is difficult for the average person to know when a hand gesture is innocent, a coincidence, or the use of an Illuminati hand sign. Song lyrics and occult symbols occasionally just crop up unintentionally...".

I picked up this book because I've always been curious about the Illuminati and what/who they are (and because it satisfies a category of a reading challenge I'm doing this year; see below). It's obvious that there is so much more I could read and research in order to learn more about the Illuminati. Of course, that's by design; they are a secretive organization, living in the shadows. I considered doing more research on the Illuminati (especially with their potential connection with the biblical Nephilim, or angels who lived on earth prior to the flood; see Genesis 6:1-4, Numbers 13:33), but then I stumbled on a good, related article online that gave me pause. Obviously written from a Christian perspective, it says, in part:

"In our modern world, fascination with secret societies, bloodlines, and hidden knowledge often serves as a distraction from the core teachings of Christianity. The Bible emphasizes the importance of focusing on Christ and His teachings rather than becoming entangled in 'myths and endless genealogies' that promote speculation rather than godly edification (1 Timothy 1:4). Christians are called to be vigilant and discerning, especially in an age where misinform and deception are rampant. / While it is intriguing to consider the possibility of a link between the Illuminati bloodlines and the Nephilim, believers must prioritize their spiritual growth and understanding of God's Word. Our primary battle is spiritual, not physical, as Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, where he speaks of demolishing arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God." (Source: https://archive.org/details/could-the..., accessed July 5, 2025)

So I don't plan on doing any more serious research on the subject!

Also, for those who may struggle with making progress at the beginning of this book, here's what I said in my first status update: Until page 44, I wasn't sure I was going to keep reading this book. It was disorganized and disconnected. Also, very oriented toward conspiracy theories. Lots of statements of fact without references to back it up. But then he started talking about various organizations that preceded the Illuminati and it got better.

OK, this is officially my longest review on Goodreads to-date!

This book sent me down a rabbit hole I didn’t expect to enjoy as much as I did. It explored power, secrecy, and the idea that history isn’t always as clean or straightforward as we’re taught. The themes of control, influence, and hidden systems ran through every chapter, tying together money, politics, symbols, and secret organizations in a way that felt both unsettling and fascinating. It constantly asked the reader to question who benefits, who decides the narrative, and how much of the world is shaped behind closed doors.

What really worked for me was how the history and conspiracy elements were blended. The book didn’t just throw wild claims around for shock value. It walked through documented events, old orders, revolutions, financial systems, and recurring symbols, then layered the theories on top of that foundation. The discussions around secret societies, elite families, and global institutions made me pause more than once and rethink things I had always taken at face value. Even when I didn’t fully agree with every conclusion, I appreciated how much space was given to doubt, debate, and critical thinking.

The writing style was engaging without being overwhelming. It managed to cover a lot of ground without feeling dry or academic, which made it easy to keep turning the pages. The tone felt investigative and curious rather than preachy, which is not always the case with books in this genre. It encouraged curiosity instead of demanding belief, and that made the experience far more enjoyable.

By the end, I felt both informed and slightly uneasy in the best way. This wasn’t a book that told me what to think but one that nudged me to look closer at history, power, and who pulls the strings. Whether you read it as a deep dive into alternative history or a challenge to mainstream narratives, it left a lasting impression and sparked plenty of late night thoughts long after I finished reading.

Whew! This is chock full of ideas and suppositions about secret societies. I read this for informative material only. I’m still uncertain about the validity proposed by some of the notions used to illustrate illuminated societies.

The Illuminati: The Secret Society Who Hijacked the World by Jim Marrs is a historical overview of the Illuminati, Freemasonry, and other secret societies. He methodically records the beginnings of Weishupt, the Illuminati's founder, and their rise in popularity along with their downfall within the public eye. He documents his beliefs on what happened to the group after they ruffled the feathers of Germany's elite. Marrs also includes other secret societies like the Rosicrucians, Club of Rome, Bohemian Grove, the Nazi Party, and many more. Marrs has written many works that have to do with conspiracy and the inner circle. This might have been his last book. He died last August.

My Review: I will always love the important work that Marrs has done in terms of research, publications, and getting the word out about the truth that many conspiracy theories hold. The Illuminati is no different than his other masterpieces. I knew quite a bit about the Illuminati before delving into this long book. As usual, once I finished the book, I knew much more. I loved how Marrs connected the dots between some of our most influential and suspicious families-Rothchilds, Rockefellers, Adams, and many more. He brought up the question of whether or not Weishupt was George Washington. He even mentioned the Jewish connection between Hitler's mother, a maid, who worked for a Rothchild, of course implying that Hitler himself is a descendant. I also loved the Bolshevik/Communist connections he made between Engels, Marx, Lenin, and Trotsky. He even mentioned the Iraq Museum and how the US government might have been in on the theft of ancient objects during the Gulf War. This book was loaded with information. It is a must read for conspiracy buffs and history lovers. RIP, Jim Marrs! You will be missed. 5/5 Stars

When Horror DNA asked me to review Jim Marrs’ latest (and as it turns out, last; Marrs passed away while this review was being written) book, I jumped on it. When I received The Illuminati: The Secret Society that Hijacked the World, published by Visible Ink Press, I was curious. Marrs has written a handful of books about secret societies in general, and several more that while not necessarily about them, definitely crossed into that territory. As a casual reader of his work, I felt he’d pretty well covered the whole Illuminati topic fairly well.

As it turns out, I was right. While The Illuminati is well written and has a lot of photos and illustrations that were absent in his other books, there isn’t a lot of new ground being covered here. I don’t know what Marrs did to write The Illuminati, but it feels more like he sat down with some of his books (Rule by Secrecy: The Hidden History that Connects the Trilateral Commission, the Freemasons & the Great Pyramids, The Rise of the Fourth Reich: The Secret Societies That Threaten to Take Over America, The Trillion-Dollar Conspiracy: How the New World Order, Man-Made Diseases, and Zombie Banks Are Destroying America, among others) and edited out this book as a sort of ‘Greatest Hits’ of the Illuminati. I have to admit, I was vexed by this at the beginning. But now, after having thought about it, I realize it doesn’t matter. All this means is that this book will likely have a different audience than his previous ones.

Supposedly begun by the Knights Templar after their conquest of the holy land or by the wealthy sons of British lords looking to take control of the government or possibly it was ancient aliens who got off their sky dragons/flying shields/Magic carpets, took human shape and began their insidious plot, but somehow the Illuminati was born.

It was allegedly connected to the Masonic order which recruited likely men to join the ranks of the Illuminati, but only if they were ambitious enough to pursue advanced degrees in the order.

A man had to be selected by the higher ups to be initiated into the mysteries, to have out of body, scary rituals performed that would test his ability to handle the truth about what the group was trying to do. Plus they were sworn to secrecy about the rituals and their secret knowledge. To reveal anything was to court ruination, and somehow they got millions of men to either dress up in robes or dance naked under the moon or get into coffins and raise demons in total secrecy, except for Manly P Hall who wrote everything down and published it.

Generations of people (men) worked together behind the scenes to wreck democracy (which didn’t exist in the era of the crusades or anytime before the founding of the United States) and build generational wealth and power, that was the mission.

I ask myself, if ancient aliens are running the planet why do they find it necessary to hide in the guise of humans? Why not just run things? And if it’s wealthy families trying to wreck civilization, why? What do they stand to gain from doing that? What would chaos do to increase their wealth and power?

And if there’s a cabal of people working tirelessly since the 1400’s to establish world domination then what is taking them so long? Shouldn’t they have achieved their goal by now?

Maybe the Illuminati should take a look at the Guzman family or the Latin Kings and learn something about taking over a country, establishing world dominance and empire building?

Or maybe people should just get on with their lives instead of believing that anyone is in control of the world, human or alien. Just live a good life and do the best you can with what you got dealt and if you get recruited by the Illuminati you can drop me an email and tell me I was wrong.

A compilation of historical and speculative facts about the Illuminati. The parts about actual Masonic and Bavarian Illuminati history are interesting, because they are historical facts. There are also other histories that are referenced to put the Illuminati theology and reality in context. These histories, such as ancient Sumer, are presented with common and alternative interpretations. I did not like some of the long paragraphs that are sourced from anonymous or Internet personalities. As well, the work in general lacks a binding new thesis about the Illuminati, which is reflected in the presentation of conflicting perspectives in the matter without distinguishment. Also, I would like to have more in-depth examination of the theology behind the Order, illustrating such a thesis on the subject. As a resource, it is a non-judgmental and wide collection of ideas and facts. For a more ambitious work that has an underlying theological perspective, Leo Lyon Zagami's series can be preferred. There, the thesis is also applied for uncovering events and objects connected to the Illuminati conspiracy, through inductive reasoning. In short, I would have preferred a study with more clearly set goals and deeper insights.

To be honest, I purchased this books as research for a character in my next novel. What I was hoping to find was a clear delineation of the myth versus fact and the realities of the nefarious brotherhood, with the understanding that there would be some speculation, missing information, and mysterious history.

While I found several excellent snippets of information that I can use, more of the content than I was hoping rehashes much of the Hollywood, and typical urban myths of the organization without any attempt to validate numerous bold statements with validated fact or reference. It became an enormous effort to sort thought the fact from the folklore.

The author is tremendously knowledgeable on the topic, especially the history of the related secret societies, fundamental goals and belief systems. As folklore, it is jammed with content, and history and conspiracy theories.

A good research book, although I found the print a little small for my eyes.

Connecting the dots between the secret societies and there are many going back eons. They've infiltrated and influenced every level of government in all countries attempting o establish the "New World Order. Delving into our most influential and suspicious families-Rothchilds, Rockefellers, and many more. President Roosevelt said "There are no accidents, if it happened it was planed that way". The game plan of the Illuminati today is to keep nations split by religious, racial, ethnic and political areas to benefit the worlds bankers and globalist elites. Shining Ones once again

Read Genesis 6, Enoch's Book of Watchers, and Tim Albrino's "Birth Right " and Gary Wayne's 2 volume set and you'll do research to find that the 'elite' are necromancers engaged with these 'sons of God' for personal gain. Selected at birth, related by bloodline to the Nephilim kings of Kish, but damned to hell at the final judgment. To summarize this whole 'war of the seed' raging since Eden, God wins. Christ conquers, like Joshua, He will win against the aboriginal giant hybrid clans of the the Promised Land, every corrupted soul will be given time to repent and then put to the sword.

A good read with a lot of information, however, sometimes I feel that Mr Marrs gets a little caught up in his own personal opinions on various subjects rather than staying objective. He also uses some sources which are not 100% solid at times. I would think that a well researched author that he is known to be, would not grasp at straws to make a point. I have read other book by the author that were more on target but overall this book is worth a read.

The information in this book is so in depth, that having a summary was great idea. I had heard of the Illuminati and had a very basic knowledge of their history, but I had absolutely no idea has to how dark there history really is.

This is a great book and one that will require more than one read, especially for me anyhow.

This is an absolute must if you are looking for more of an understanding of the Illuminati.

So much knowledge. It took me a good while to get through this wonderful work because of the countless names and dates that are thrown at you. It's so much to digest. The amount of research required to write something so expansive is unreal and very much appreciated. I felt my brain getting bigger as I read this. Bravo. I will definitely be reading other works from this gentleman.

Long and Pretty Thorough

Does a good job of presenting the entire history of the Illuminati - and makes a compelling argument for the concept that Adam Weishaupt's 1776 Bavarian version was just another link in an unbroken chain of concerted efforts since antiquity to establish a non-church/non-nation state-based system of global governance and control.

I really like conspirations but this book is so full of them that is impossible to relax and enjou the ride.
A conspiration of, more os less, 6 thousand years? :)
Nah, nothing is worth this kinda of time.

The book contains some errors too, mostly about mythological issues.
There are some good info, but the reader will not discern what is error from what is information.

So, skip it.

Interesting read. This book isn't just about the Illuminati. Marrs takes readers through early, early history, going back to Sumeria and introduces his readers to various secret societies. There is a strong element of conspiracy, but there is historical information I found very interesting.
