The Girlfriend Request #2

The Boyfriend Bid

Rate this book

Sarah Campbell’s never bid in her high school's charity auction to win a date with one of the school's hottest guys. And she’s certainly not going to start now—when she’s still hurting over a bad breakup. The absolute last thing she’d ever do is bid on Mr. Ego himself, Chance DuPont.

Chance just wanted to help out a worthy cause, not get roped into not one but six dates with someone who seemingly can’t stand him. But when Sarah’s friends bid on him on her behalf, that’s exactly where he ends up. Now a local blog is covering the story by following them on all their dates, too?

Seems like everyone loves a good love story—except the two living it.

This Entangled Teen Crush book contains one fender-bender meet-cute, two well-meaning best friends, and endless steamy moments. It may inspire you to plan your own six dates with someone special!

The boyfriend bid is an enjoyable easy read. It’s cliche but I liked it all the same.

Chance is a misunderstand jock. He’s popular but still has insecurities. He’s a nice guy.

Sarah is a girl with a broken heart. Her last bf was a jerk and she isn’t looking for a replacement. Her friends want her to get over her ex and take her out to the bidding auction. They have the intention of finding her a safe date.

The dating bid gives Sarah and Chance 6 weeks to get to know each other.

This is well written and fairly predictable. It’s what you think it’s going to be with a swoon-worthy ending.

**You can see this full review and more at Book Briefs: https://bookbriefs.net**The Boyfriend Bid is a young adult contemporary romance by author Jodie Andrefski. The Boyfriend Bid was a really cute romance story from Engalanged Teen's Crush line. I am always happy to pick up a new book by their crush imprint because I always know what I can trust to get out of the story. I always know it is going to be a super cute romance, with great characters and a healthy dose of heart, mostly done in a high school setting. And The Boyfriend Bid delivered on all of those elements. There was one aspect of the story that bothered me but it didn't detract from my overall enjoyment of the story.

In the Boyfriend Bid we meet our two main characters, Sarah and Chance. Chance is the school's new guy and Sarah starts off pretty closed off to him. At first Sarah was a bit off-putting to me because she was so, soo guarded, but watching Chance knock down her walls one brick at a time was super rewarding. Sarah certainly won me over, and Chance had a fan in me from the start. Sarah was burned by a soccer player in the past, so she wants nothing to do with Chance. Her friends put in a winning bid on him at a charity auction for school and their forced dating is off. I loved the idea of charity auction. I even liked the idea of how the dates got upped from one to six, but the whole student news story aspect of following them around and recording their dates really irritated me. It was a complete invasion of their privacy and I was really surprised that not only the both of them went along with it, but that the school overall was ok with it. I wouldn't have been ok with it and I never would have agreed to it. The school basically had a charity auction, took Sarah's friends $300 dollars and then totally changed the rules of the game after the fact. But that was honestly my only gripe with the story.

I loved the romance. I loved watching Sarah and Chance connect and slowly get to know one another. Nothing about their actual relationship felt forced (other than the fake news story dating nonsense.) or rushed. And I have to say this, both Sarah and Chance were great young adult characters. I really adored them, separately and together. If you are looking for a fake relationship turned real type of story that has a different take on the concept, then I would check out The Boyfriend Bid. I think it will hit the spot for a sweet young adult high school romance.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read this book.

I was in the mood for something fluffy, and this fit the bill. It probably fits the bill a little too well, because it is over the top cliched and just a little too sweet. Sweet enough it makes my teeth hurt. There is no real barriers or angst to this; anything that seems like an obstacle is bowled away all too quickly for any real problem to arise. If it isn't, then it's forgotten about (Like Sarah's charity work and why she can't continue it. What) I mean, it has been a while since I've read a teenage love story but this one just felt a little too basic for me.

The writing is fine and I just don't feel like it's bad enough to drop down to two stars. I think it probably has a broader appeal that I'm just not feeling though.

What’s this book about you ask?
It’s about a girl and a boy who are pushed together by their schools “boyfriend bid” which makes them go on 6 dates together, even though that’s the last thing either of them want to do. It’s a story about high school love and all the complications that come with it.

They start off on the wrong foot after an incident involving a car and immediately were weird around each other which I didn’t entirely understand since one person in this pairing in particular could’ve just....I dunno....been nice?

This was a cute teenage love story that would be good for a day where you just want some romance. This was a 3/5 stars for me because I just couldn’t see any real chemistry between them and was distracted by all the unnecessary drama between them, but hey—that’s a teenage romance story right there.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. ARC provided by publisher via Netgalley <3 Thank you!

*I received a free copy of this ebook from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.*

I'm sorry, but it's maybe 2.5 stars.

The description of this book sounded like something I would like, but there were other elements of the story that bothered me so much I just couldn't get past them to enjoy it more. I started venting in my Notes app while I read, so I'll probably share some of those thoughts in a bit.

Chance and Sarah were fine characters--both likable high school seniors. Their friends and family were all right, too, though they really weren't fleshed out much. Many times throughout the book, I'd wonder, "And what do your parents think of this?" Because let's be honest: If you have to go on up to 12 dates over the next six weeks, your parents are going to know about it, especially if you've got such a busy schedule to begin with. Instead, both Chance's parents and Sarah's mom were just on the page occasionally at convenient times and without much substance.

Some of my more nit-picky complaints:
- Sarah digs her fingers into her waist bone. Yes, "waist bone"--because there is such a thing. Let's look at the human skeleton for a moment . . . Go ahead, look up a picture. Hm. There are ribs, and below that there's a gap until you get to the hips. The two are connected by the spine. Your waist does not equal your hips. Your waist is the narrowest part of you, typically between your hips and your ribs and somewhere around your belly button.
- Chance remembers his brother being in a metal hospital bed. From the way he described it, what came to mind were those super old ones you see in pictures of like the mid-20th century. I've stayed in hospitals a few times over the last decade or so (four babies, as well as some other procedures), in three different states. Not a single hospital bed was metal. Just sayin'.

Now let's get down to some of the things that really bothered me, shall we?

Changing the auction item from one date with Chance to six weeks with up to two dates per week and having it be auctioned off for $300 per entry? What in the what? I cannot willingly suspend enough disbelief to accept that any high school administration would suggest that as a good idea for their student body. 1) Sure, it's for a good cause, but do they really think that's a good way to encourage their female students to spend their money? 2) Asking a student, on the spot, to donate that much of his time, is a ridiculous expectation.

I hated Erica & her crew. Were there any more selfish, ridiculous people in the history of this book? No, there were not. I cannot believe anyone thought it was a good idea for Chase and Sarah to be followed around by a photographer and a sound guy and have to wear mics on every date. Not only is it an invasion of their personal space, but it would obviously interfere with any genuine conversation or possible relationship that Erica hoped would develop for her stupid blog. No matter how much she repeatedly claimed it was all for the good of the fundraiser, it was obviously all for the benefit of her website and college admissions project. I hated her. Moreover, the fact that Chance and Sarah went along with it all irked me. Neither of them felt comfortable with the intrusion at any point during the whole thing, and really, they weren't under any obligation to go through with it. Why did neither of them say no?

Where on earth did the impromptu let-me-remove-your-sweater-and-give-you-a-neck-and-shoulder-massage thing come from while they were volunteering at Habitat? That was just all kinds of weird.

On the subject of Habitat, Erica's crew ones again ruined the day. Yes, Sarah didn't quite use her brain when she agreed to let Hannah come to the site, but what followed was quite messed up. And the fact that it never really came up again (except briefly when Chance was talking to Rick) really bothered me.

Oh, back to Erica & Co. I can't believe she actually called a meeting to discuss the "lack of heart and romance" being displayed for her BLOG. Since when was that a requirement? The fact that she and her cronies ganged up on Chance and Sarah, calling their dates boring, made me want to slap them all upside the head. Have I mentioned I hated them? Demanding Chance and Sarah allow them to tag along every time they interact, whether it be in a restaurant or in a car, was just plain awful and intrusive. Again, why on earth didn't Chance or Sarah ever say no?

Speaking of which, why was Chance such an idiot at the restaurant? He could easily have said, "We're leaving in our separate cars" and then used this thing he has called a PHONE to call or text her as soon as they got in their cars. But I suppose that wouldn't have perpetuated the Big Misunderstanding.

Let's consider in the real world what a librarian's response to, "Can I please have a picnic in the Rare Books room?" would be? If you think the answer would be "Yes," you are out of your mind.

Last big of my Note rants: It wasn't my understanding that Chance was some super rich kid. So how on earth did he afford all the stuff at the end?

So while the idea behind this book was interesting and could have produced something cute and enjoyable to read, its potential was greatly overshadowed by all of the elements that required vast quantities of the willing suspension of disbelief. As a result, the entire book felt contrived and what I'm going to call "author guided"--the characters weren't allowed to act on their own because the author led all of their decisions like a puppeteer.

How it ends:

Note: Some swearing. A lot of really unbelievable elements that ruined the story for me.

My thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was an enjoyable Young Adult read.. Sarah's friends pool their funds to bid on a date with the popular new soccer star at their high school, Chance Dupont.. Sarah, who is of half Italian and African American ancestry, recently broke up with her long time boyfriend after she caught him cheating. Sarah decides to concentrate on her grades, so she can qualify for a scholarship for college and is upset when her friends decide she needs to chill out and start dating again. They decide to enter Sarah as a bidder in a charitable event sponsored by the soccer team: Sarah's friends post a bid for her to win a date with the most popular boy in the school.

When there is a bidding war, the local media and school paper decide to publicize the event in order to raise more funds for the local hospital, and Sarah and Chance's six dates are photographed and reported - a sort of reality tv program, but in print. Chance and Sarah reluctantly agree: it is for a good cause, after all.

As each date progresses, Chance and Sarah start to develop real feelings for one another, but it becomes hard to distinguish between what is being said and done for the camera and actual reality. This was a little different from the usual boy meets girl YA fare.

I felt there were a few issues that hadn't been dealt with in the end -Chance's difficult relationship with his father and Sarah's scholarship issues, but the focus of the story was on two characters who had no time for love, suddenly finding that love was making time for them. I rate this a 3.75 out of 5. An enjoyable read.

I've found myself to be loyal to entangled teen publishing for a story I can read within 1-3 days without even reading the synopsis, but considering what kind of books these are, it's fair to expect that every once in a while you'll find a massive flop. Honestly, I kinda like finding those so I can write a scathing review haha. Thus:

First of all, the whole “bid situation” plot point was so beyond flimsy, I couldn’t take anything that followed seriously. The situation was hastily explained away with absolutely zero logic or actual reasoning. They stopped the bidding at $300 – when it likely would have continued to get higher – in order to “make more money” for St. Jude, while giving away more than the original offer. That sounds fair and makes a lot of professional sense....

'Here, people are obviously crazy about these new paintings I’ve put up on eBay, let me stop the bidding, stick with the highest bid so far and give them even more paintings for that price'… what?

And then it wasn’t even 6 dates, it was 12 dates - 2 a week - which is beyond excessive and extremely unrealistic for a school and charity to do for 2 minors.

The author threw every single cliché line and scenario known to romance with absolutely no originality or flair to make it her own. Along with poorly written banter and lack-luster rapport.

And then Sarah – absolutely the worst – is such a dick to him right off the bat, and is then like, 'he obviously doesn’t like me, he hasn’t done anything and I’ve been dropping SOOOOO many hints', when she’s done the absolute minimum: sent him a polite text, at best, and started smiling at him more? I’m to presume. Meanwhile, he’s been touching her so much: holding her hand, reading to her while physically moving her head to his chest, carrying her away when she’s injured, staring at her with longing for longer than acceptable, and tucking wisps of her hair behind her ear. Saying things like “It was hopeless.” because he didn’t ask her to dance with him of his own volition, an old man had to tell him to – wow, what a telling sentiment against him.

Then there's his inner monologue. Gahhhhh. Sickeningly smitten wayyy too soon. And then he has the audacity to act surprised when he realizes he likes her…. um, your like's been showing for quite some time bud, therefore, basically the worst of both worlds.

Also, everyone’s on crack. How on earth would a camera man and a mic capturing everything you’re saying and doing on a date ever seem like a good idea? How would that ever happen, ever? Why would they say yes to that? Oh! What do we do when a plot point doesn’t actually make sense, throw it right under that flimsy guise of being for sick kids; how does your “operation romance” affect the charity at all? It doesn’t. Neither did the original bidding situation. They could have gotten more than $300, for a substantially smaller investment.

Overall, a dnf right out the gate.

The concept of this book was cute; role reversal on dating bids, but at a high school level for cancer awareness. The plot is a-typical. Sarah is hurt and burdened by an old boyfriend and Chase is too similar at first for her to separate them. Romance that was never supposed to be romance and a couple who is hiding their feelings from each other in a way that may damage their future relationship.

The characters are well put together with back stories that help to understand their potential growth. I feel like there were points made about Chase's brother Alex and his father that never really turned into anything or went into further detail. Maybe that isn't an important part to their love story, but it important to Chase's character and why he does the auction to begin with. I just felt like that was missing from the story and needed to be there. There was a part with Chase and Doug (Sarah's ex) that I didn't understand. Either it was meant to mean something and elaborated on/made into something more or it shouldn't have been there. Without giving away spoilers, I would have liked to see that go somewhere.

Overall, the story was good. It was a sweet high school romance story that was a quick read. If you can get past a few missing pieces, or (to me what seemed like) unfinished story board thought processes, then it is well worth the read.

Thank you to Entangled Publishing for providing the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a rapid read at less than two hundred pages, but if you try to keep your reality meter in check - it is highly enjoyable. Sarah is relatable with the breakup and even the friends putting her up for a date makes sense. However, dating your ex's new teammate can make things awkward (and bring up sensitive feelings). Chase's reactions even feel real with how he is confused by Sarah's offputting reactions to him and his attempts to get to know her anyways.

That being the case, I have some issues. St Jude's is featured heavily throughout the book, but the connection to cancer is only mentioned once. Chase's brother Alex and the leukemia gets a single mention in chapter six and doesn't come up again. Huge missed opportunity! Especially since its clear that it's such a core issue for Chase and who he is as a person. It should've come up on the dates.

For the most part I really enjoyed this story. The characters were sweet, and good together, but a few more phone calls or text messages would have smoothed the way a bit.

There were a couple of places where my suspension of disbelief had to work a bit overtime.

But all in all an enjoyable, cute read. I will definitely check out more by this author.

The Boyfriend Bid by Jodie Andrefski is the 2nd book in the Girlfriend Request Book young adult romance series, which I really enjoyed. Sarah Campbell is recovering from her bad breakup when her two girlfriends bid on a date for her. The high school had a charity auction, and Sarah won Chance DuPont. Sarah doesn't like Chance, but she now has 6 dates with him, and the dates will be filmed. I really enjoyed this young adult sweet romance book. I love this genre, there is something so innocent about first loves. I love the quirky people and situations in this book, and watching the characters grow. I found this book to be a quick read, and recommend it to all readers who enjoy a sweet romance.

I gave The Boyfriend Bid by Jodie Andrefski 3 stars as it was a sweet and cute romance. However, it was very cliche and it was missing some angst. I wanted more humor and sparks.

I liked that it delivered on Entagled Teen brand with sweet, clean and innocent YA romance set in high school.

I was here for 'kind of fake relationship' trope and a bit of 'hate-to-love', also the concept sounded very interesting, however, I felt like it let me down a bit with the unnecessary boring drama and some unrealistic moments. I just wanted a bit more from this story. Don't get me wrong it wasn't all bad, I liked both main characters and I liked them together and how their relationship sweetly developed but that was not enough for me to give it more tan 3 stars.

Uggg, it was too forced. Everything. It had so much potencial. The MCs were just too cringy and you see that the author just loves her other book because the protagonist keeps telling us how her best friend is the best in the whole wide world... it really had potencial, I liked the beginning, but it kept getting more and more forced.

I mean, who isn't a sucker for a (cheesy, yes, cliched too - but in the best possible way), fantastic and sweet novel about two teenagers stuck together to raise money for charity...I mean, even if it's not the most realistic situation ever (especially given the whole "under public scrutiny because every date is filmed" thing). But ultimately, it comes down to what are you looking to get out of a book like this? What generally, I'm looking for, is something that makes me feel warm and happy inside. Something that makes you believe in the good things of the world. Or something that helps you to escape, just for a little bit.
And this book certainly did the job for me.
Overall:
This is a light, fluffy story about Sarah, your classic female heroine who's still trying to get over a breakup, and Chance du Pont (whose name sounds perfect for the kind of egotistical, all round not great person that Sarah takes him for at first. So of course, when they get stuck together by Sarah's friends through a charity date auction, for not one, not two, but six dates, it is safe to say that a lot of "moments", both uncomfortable and cute, ensue.

Characters:
Sarah was likeable enough for a heroine, and she had clearly faced a certain amount of 'trauma' shall we say, after her last relationship with her ex(who happens to be part of Chance's team), but I couldn't help but feel a bit...I don't know...annoyed at her at times. In the beginning of the novel, although I completely understand why, she acted in a fairly rude manner towards Chance, despite not knowing anything about him. But, fear not, she does improve significantly throughout the story and it's actually quite enjoyable seeing her grow.
Chance, on the other hand, I always felt was likeable and he just seemed like the kind of guy that exists in every YA novel - sweet, good looking, popular but not stuck up, etc, etc. But I was/am totally okay with that.

Storyline:
Again, this is an Entangled Crush novel, so no one is exactly coming in here expecting twists and turns and deviations from the script, so to speak, but Andrefski still manages to pull off a fairly enjoyable character journey and storyline - it was certainly enough that it made you want to continue reading and not put the book down.

Overall, another fantastically enjoyable, delightfully cheesy novel from Entangled Crush. A major congratulations to the author for this novel!

Every year the school holds a charity auction where the female students get to bid on a date with one of the hottest male students. When Sarah's friends make a bid on her behalf, she wins six weeks worth of dates with Chance. Neither Sarah or Chance wanted this, but they try to make the best of the situation. When the school blog wants to follow Sarah and Chance on their dates and write articles about them, Sarah and Chance decide to fake a relationship to really give them something to write about. The problem is you can only fake for so long before feelings start to become real.

Sarah has trust issues after a relationship ended badly. When it comes to Chance, Sarah has a hard time letting him in. Slowly Chance starts breaking down her walls and the two start to get closer. Chance had some nice moments and his motives for participating in the auction to honor his brothers memory was sweet.

Sarah and Chances date scenes were sweet and I enjoyed seeing these two start to get to know one another, but I didn't care for the blog characters and all their manipulation of Sarah and Chase to make their dates more interesting just for the sake of their articles.

I generally enjoy the fake relationship storylines. While this had some cute moments, I didn't enjoy this as much as I was hoping to.

The Boyfriend Bid is a cute, quick read that only requires a teensy bit of suspension of belief (would grown adults really think a last-minute raffle of a high schooler to a bunch of his peers for a prize of six dates with him is a good idea? How many of those peers would really have $300 left at the end of a charity raffle? And the reality TV/blog aspect of it? Don't get me started...) but their cause is good--though I would have liked to have seen it played up more--the characters are fun, and many of their scenes together are cute. It was frustrating at times (why does Sarah hold on to her witchiness for so long? For pity's sake, why don't the two of them just ditch the cameras and microphones and have a conversation already?) but entertaining overall. Like in the first book in the series ( The Girlfriend Request ) many of their plans weren't terribly well thought out, but that just added to the fun.

Second in the series, but should also work just fine as a standalone.

Rating: 3 stars / C+

Super cute love story between Sarah and Chance who meet accidentally first when she rear ends him in the parking lot of their school where they do not hit it off. Sarah has recently broken up with her long time boyfriend and is not interested in dating anyone specifically a soccer player, which Chance happens to be. Then one of her friends enters her in a school bachelor auction to benefit pediatric cancer research, and Sarah wins 6 weeks of dates with Chance. Someone at the school paper has the idea to chronicle their dating activity which makes it even worse because neither of them are really interested in the whole idea to start out with. Initially, Sara and Chance do not really get along but eventually they start to like each other and slowly that like grows to more, the more time they spend together. The story is adorable but predictable. Chance and Sarah are a cute couple and the ending it very sweet.

This was a quick enjoyable read by a new author for me who I would read again. Her characters were engaging and fun and quirky.
Having teens around our house very true to life. Totally something I could see a group of my daughter’s drama friends doing for her.
It had the things you would expect to find. Sarah dealing with parents and family issues. Yet, her dealings with being thoughtful, that money issues with the divorce was hard on her mom, and she was grateful, is a nice thing to hear.
Being dumped not wanting to date. And what I thought was interesting was that the ex’s reaction. And all the comments of his teammates in favor of Sarah. A total plus.
Enjoyed that for the most part, Sarah is a strong confident young girl who knows her likes and dislikes. Yet, you see her gooey middle that shows she has been hurt making her unsure at times as to how her judgment is working for her.
Things I had a problem with it was where the advisor for the class? When the crazy editor chick went haywire? Why didn’t Sarah and Chance say no to a lot of her request, no really her, orders? That’s just me but I know you need conflict, so just me.
Sweet book, if you’re looking for, a fun quick, read this is for sure one. I give this: 4 stars. Provided by netgalley.com.

The first book in this series was good, but this one fell short. The love story was largely TELL, with little SHOW. We are TOLD these two fall in love, but the process of falling in love is mostly missing. It would work as a lust story, where just looking is enough to inflame passion. But in love, emotional sharing is required. And Sarah was too closed-off for love to happen. I feel like these two won't last the month, and Chase will find someone better (hopefully!!). I also feel like Chase got used to withholding and mildly emotionally-abusive people, thanks to the way his father is with him. But that with therapy, Chase can realise he deserves better than an Ice Queen who needs constant reassurance, one-sided proclamations, and big gestures in order to feel valued. And Sarah needs to heal herself before trying to love another; she needs to learn to love herself first.

Not a great romance. 3 Stars for the overall plot, though. ⭐⭐⭐

This was a quick and enjoyable read. First time reading a book by Jodie Andrefski and I really enjoyed it. Finished it in a couple of hours.

Sarah is half Italian and half African American. She has had her heart broken. So naturally she has some trust issues. Chance is a popular jock. The soccer star. He has a difficult relationship with his father. He's also really kind and caring.

Sarah's friends end up bidding on Chance for Sarah to date at a bidding auction. But in order for the soccer team to get the money they have to pretend date. Can they keep it pretend? Or will feelings get in the way?

Overall this was a cute read. A great book to just unwind with.

One of the first things that stood out to me when I started reading this book was how the chapters changed the point of view/character. One chapter would be from Sarah's perspective and the next was from Chance's. I loved this approach as often times in romance stories you only learn/see the romance from one side of the partnership.

Sarah and Chance are both great leading characters and I felt drawn to them both quickly. More Chance than Sarah actually. This story brought me back to high school and all the stress and pressure that comes with it. Overall, this story starts off fast and gets into the drama fairly quickly.

If you love watching chick-flicks and reading YA romance than you will wholeheartedly enjoy this book!

A sweet story about falling in love with someone you don't expect.

Sarah didn't bid on a date with Chance but she still ended up winning. Chance had just wanted to participate because the auction supported a good cause.

I liked the set up for this story, and while I enjoyed it, the characters and plot just didn't hook me. I think I just didn't see the evolution of their feelings very well from crush to both saying - internally at least- that they were in love.

My favorite part was how both Chase and Sarah care about volunteering and causes like Habitat For Humanity and St. Jude's. It was so nice to see them both featured.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ARC for an honest review.

I received an ARC from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

After reading a large amount of historical fiction and high fantasy novels, I was looking for a fluffy, contemporary read to calm my feels. That was when I noticed I had this ARC waiting for me and I found it to be the perfect opportunity to dive into it! While I will say it was not the most well written novel with fleshed out characters, it was definitely a cute read! If you are looking for a short, adorable and quick read, then I would recommend you try this one.

Sarah Campbell – As a main female lead, I think Sarah was good character to follow due her intelligence, passion and kindness. I really wished we got to see more of her dreams and aspirations since it could have created a more dynamic and intense layer to her personality.

Chance DuPoint – Chance is a adorable. I have no other words. Yes, he is immediately misunderstood by Sarah due to his popularity and position in the School’d Soccer team but he really does show a caring side to him which you cannot help but adore.

I guess my main criticism of this novel would be the plot and that it hangs on a string of disbelief. The story line itself was a bit strange since I do not think the high school administration would allow an event like this to happen but maybe I am just being nit-picky. In addition, I do think the author’s technique of writing resembled more of just telling what happens instead of showing and letting the reader infer the plot details. There were moments of flashbacks and I think these were key moments that could have been developed even more to give a deeper connection to the characters. Overall, I think there could have been potential for this novel if the plot was more gripping and the characters had more layers to their personality.

Otherwise I thought the developing romance was very cute. And my main girl, loves to read. What’s not to love? And there were a couple of library scenes which was an adorable touch. So Sweet! One of my favorite aspects of any novels are those which contain strong female friendships and I was so happy to see a strong and supportive sisterhood throughout this book!

If you are looking for a quick and cute summer/spring read, then definitely try it out!

The Boyfriend Bid by Jodie Andrefski a five-star read you would bid on. This was such a great story, my first by this author and I hope not my last, it was sweet and romantic wit twists to keep you interested, there was a drama running along side and that was great, but it didn’t detract from the great story. Sarah Campbell was a great character and one you could get with, you can imagine her heading down the corridor and hammering nails. I love the way the author describes the minor details making you feel like you are part of the story, you are there with them smelling the sawdust and book dust. Pick this up if you want sweet romance that you will adore.

Sarah and Chance were very likable, especially Chance. I liked the fact that they volunteered and seemed to be well adjusted teens. Story was cute and the dates were great. Now the reason for the 4 star. I hated how the team (Josh, Hannah, Elle) following them for the blog treated them. I must say I hate reality shows like this where drama is put in for the sake of drama. Telling them their dates were boring and to show more "love". was a turn off for me especially dealing with teens. It would have been a 5 if this was a bit different.

This was a fun and quick read, but I can't say that it impressed me much. I think that the same scenario would honestly work better in an adult book.

The characters weren't very fleshed out and the romance moved in a weird pace. It seemed insta-lovey and then, maybe in an attempt to make it look not as such, they decided that they didn't want a relationship.

It was a book that was, in my opinion, just fine. If you'd like a quick and sweet read, go ahead!
