So three out of the five episodes I was fanning myself so this story earned its five steam fans!! Now this is also one of the sweetest second chance novellas that I have read in a minute. It is short but hits everything that I am needing in my current reading situation. Carter and Lizzy had a history when they were in high school but ten years has past and both have lived lives apart. When Carter comes back to town he seeks Lizzy out and oh was it a reunion. This story was short, sweet, super sexy, and the perfect taste of what Dylan Allen has to offer! This was my first Dylan Allen book but I can feel it in my bones that the other books that I already own are going to make me fall even more in love with this author's writing. I can't wait to take the other journeys she has out there.
This specific video review will be included in the April 2019 wrap-up.

Well for me first Dylan Allen book...is a good start...I am very intrigued. Maybe this story is not really intended to be novella..I don't know do these two get whole book but this was waaay too short for such a complicated plotline.
This was a good story with only two issues, one minor, one major.
The minor issue for me was him thinking in his head that her eyelashes were like feathers. I just don’t think guy’s in general think that way. However, he is a songwriter so I’ll forgive it. It just took me out the story, feeling out of place.
The second and major problem was the hand burning. Blisters were mentioned, which suggest 3rd degree burns which need more than a bandage. Even a burn without blisters is extremely painful. And I didn’t buy passing out for a few seconds and the pain and damage is gone to the point your only thinking about kissing and sexing a guy. Thus I found it very unrealistic and again took me out of the story.
Still, it was a good beginning and I would want more.
As far as narration goes. The guy was fine. I didn’t like the female’s voice that much but the acting part of it was good enough it didn’t grate on my nerves.
Second chance romance deliciousness, I really enjoyed Carter & Lizzy’s story. My only quibble? I wanted more! Part of the Rivers Wilde series - which to be fair I’ve not yet read, so that’s on me - I felt like their story kinda started in the middle. Don’t get me wrong, there was enough detail to stand-alone, I’m just a greedy inquisitive asshole with unanswered back story questions, damnit. LOL. 4.5⭐️’s
An okay second chance romance. I didn't really like the female narrator for this one and I would have liked some more info on the heroine's first marriage.
It was a fun workout session with this in my ears. It's actually pretty sweet! I only wondered about why 10years. On the one side I understand because her situation, but on the other 10 whole years. That's a long time waiting...
From read me romance podcast; I listened to the audio version. Author Dylan Allen is a gifted storyteller. This is a very sweet, short, first love and reunion story and a part of forever trilogy, which looks like bittersweet in true Dylan Allen fashion. I will definetly read them. https://www.goodreads.com/series/2661...
Listened to on the Read Me Romance podcast. Didn’t really enjoy the male narrator. He was ok, but when he attempted the female character, it through me off and didn’t pay as much attention. Besides that, cute second chance romance story that was enjoyable.
This was a total miss for me. I read this through the Read Me Romance Podcast. I did not like the main characters at all. I felt that they had no connection
Carter and Elizabeth had met years before and he promised he would come back for her...10 years later he shows up where she is working. I enjoyed the story line but felt that there were moments when I missed something because it would go from one scene to the next and it felt like I'd missed a "page" (listened on podcast) but overall cute, sexy, fun story.
This was an ok second chance romance between the girl left behind and the guy who left to become famous. There are a ton of loose threads about what happened before, which I'm guessing is going to be in The Forever Trilogy... making this a teaser. Which might be fine if I was already familiar with the author, but instead just leaves me a bit unsatisfied.
I'm extremely sorry but wtf did I just listen?!? I mean... let me explain and from this point forward I'm going to describe the story so full of spoilers, you have been warned.
I feel like I missed a prologue or a backstory or something! I mean, we start the story with a girl who works at a restaurant and she is with her friend who is also her boss, and she tells her that a guy whom she has been in love like forever and ever, has just arrived at the restaurant and wants to see her. She panics because she has a scar on her face and because of that she is "no longer beautiful" and "is practically useless" but he ambushes her in the kitchen and she burns her hand pretty badly. He takes care of her at her boss's office and they have an inconsequential talk (5 mins, nothing really deep, just superficial stuff) about them not really changing who they are inside even if the outside it's different. Then she tells him so after 10 years is he going to kiss her or what?
WTF! Why?! Why would you ask that!? of all things, maybe 'why took you so long' or 'how's life' or 'what are you doing here' anything!? To be completely honest from that point forward is just ridiculous, so they kiss
She is in f@@ing pain because of the burn but she is horny so it totally makes senses (SO NOT!!) and then a bandmate crashes in the office before they get naked and tell him that they have to split, to leave her fuck behind so they can leave before the mob of people eats them alive. And this is she
She kinds of says goodbye, but he tells her to got to his concert. Now I'm going to stop here because this is just plain ridiculous I mean I just don't know if I skipped something or what but the h has ZERO respect for herself, she has been divorce for less than a year and she is already marring this guy and the H when to her first wedding but somehow stalked her hard until he made they reunion possible.
So I just don't know what to think at all.

I really enjoyed this and actually would have been okay if the podcast had ended on Thursday instead of Friday. That's unusual in a story that I like - I usually want more. And it's not that I didn't enjoy Friday's chapter - I did - but there was something so beautifully romantic about Thursday's that it would have been the perfect ending for me. I mean, I teared up listening to it!
This is a second chance romance between high school homecoming queen down on her luck and high school reject/ignored/overlooked guy turned rock star. The one thing I would have really liked more of was their back stories. I would happily read the story where they met and some of the years in-between when they were apart.
The narration was good and the two narrators voices worked well together. I listened at 2x and it was no problem for me.
I also really enjoyed the podcast this week - Alex Riley read some great listener emails with some hilarious pick up lines and also dished some writing advice (which has me itching to pick up my writing again, but with what time? I need to find a way to make that my career). I just love listening to all three of them chat on Monday and Friday too!
This book was stupidly adorable. I'm usually not a big fan of second chance romances but this was super sweet. Lizzy and Carter fall right back into love without missing a beat. There romance was emotional, quick and endearing. From teenage lovers to strangers and back to lovers, they have excellent chemistry and I really enjoyed Dylan Allen's writing. It was effortless and truly focused on the romance while giving me enough information to maintain the story line.
I only have 2 grievances, one being their were some cringy lines. Lines that weren't said by the characters but descriptive lines that I was like oh that didn't sound good out all. My second peeve is they make such a big deal out of the scar on her face but they never tell us why she has a scar. Why was Carter at her wedding, why was she marrying someone else, I just have a lot of unanswered questions about their romance and that is rather annoying.
I listened to this book on the read me romance podcast.
Two things I usually avoid when reading romance are books with a fame or celebrity aspect (I find 'normal' heroes much more relatable), and second chance romances, because I hate that they spend so long apart. That is why I was so surprised that I enjoyed this book!
The writing and characterisation was great, and the chemistry between the characters was really believable. The concert scene was SO romantic and sweet, it really won me over.
There were a lot of unanswered questions in the audiobook - such as how she got the scar and why Carter went to her wedding - but I've heard that these questions will be answered in the kindle version of the book, so I'm going to wait until its release to update my rating of this book!
I did enjoy this book. It was super sweet which is actually what I look for in these types of books. I wasn't a big fan of the sex scene but I think that might have been the female narrator. I didn't really like listening to her chapters. I enjoyed the storyline but she just didn't bring it to life. At times it felt like my Alexa was reading. This was a beautiful story, though. And even at times had me in tears.
Second chance romance all wrapped up in a quick and steamy listen! Dylan Allen has given Carter and Lizzie their chance at happily ever after and it's a wonderful story. Just long enough to show us how much emotional pull these two have ten years after their first kiss, it's fun and flirty. Aaron Shedlock and Tracy Marks, with their chemistry bring this novella to life. Shedlock as the hot rock star with his mind set on his woman and Marks as the one he is after give us a passionate listen.
This book made absolutely zero sense. I was confused going in and while it was happening was still confused why the main characters even liked each other. There was NO CHEMISTRY!
I mean the love interest basically shows up out of the blue and is apparently still in love with her after they kissed like once at summer camp? And now he’s in a pop band or something? Just didn’t like.
I listened to it on the podcast Read me Romance but the smut was minimal to none and characters extremely unlikeable.
I listened to this audiobook on the Read Me Romance podcast back in October 2022 even though it came out in 2019 (I like to listen to the chats but save the audiobooks when I'm in the mood to listen rather than read okay). Honestly, the characters were forgettable and this was a pretty forgettable story, which bums me out because it sounded so sweet. This is why I'm very picky with my second chance romances and only actually enjoy a few of them.
This was just okay for me. I didn’t really feel the connection between the characters and the female narrator didn’t do the best job. It was difficult to tell which character’s voice she was speaking in and she did not have a pleasant tone.
I listened to this for free on the Read me Romance podcast.
3.25 stars. Quickie review- This was another audiobook read from the Read Me Romance podcast. I liked the story, but was left with many questions and felt disappointed more was not explained about the story. There needed to be much more to the ending and the heroine's back story, because it was mentioned and not ever explained. Also, the female narrator's voice sounded like a robot. No thanks.
