Man on First is a murder mystery with a comic twist. Young and handsome Jeff Conley, a plumber's apprentice, accompanies his boss, Mr. Watson, to the girls' dormitory at Strathmore College to unclog a sewer line. In the latrine they discover a murdered girl with strange tattoos on her body. Before the murder is solved, Jeff gets involved with counterfeiters, drug dealers, embezzlers, cybercrime, members of the Terpsichorean Dance Troupe, Sheriff Birdwell, U.S. Treasury Agents, and faculty members at Strathmore College and New York City School of Arts and Humanities (NYCSAH). Readers will smile as they identify clichés, idioms, stereotypes, and literary allusions to the murder mystery genre. Martha Rhynes, the author, wrote Man on First several years ago in response to the National Novel Writing Month challenge. She wrote 1600 words each day to achieve the 50,000 word count in thirty days. Unfortunately, she missed the deadline. Rhynes has four other books published on Amazon The War Bride, Jack Writer of Adventure, Ray Teller of Tales, and How to Write Scary Stories.
