They took my powers from me--for my own good, so they said--and told me not to come back to Merlin College. But you can't get rid of me that easily.
After all, I still have the boys on my side. My foxy familiar Firian, tempting incubus Alec, and sexy vampire Montague--and we have an awesome summer planned in Florida. Part of the plan? Trying to get myself enrolled in a rival witch college.
Not part of the plan? The part where Harris von Hapsburg Nicolescu, arrogant jerk that he is, follows us to Florida and gets seriously up in my business. And definitely not the part where Harris gets kidnapped and held for ransom by Montague's sire, a five hundred year old vampire who wants to steal Montague away from us forever.
So, if we can just keep out of trouble from the vampires and demons who want to steal us away to the dark side, it should be a pretty sweet year of wand-making (wand-making, y'all! #goals), necromancy, sexy times on boats, sexy times in computer games, and some very unexpected allies.
BOYS OVER POWERS is book two in a four book reverse harem series with cliffhangers and steamy scenes.
Lidiya Foxglove grew up on a steady diet of fairy tales, folklore and fantasy and also reads way too much manga. Fantasy romance is her favorite thing in the world, but she likes it steamy. She also loves cats and tea--it's cliche for a reason!
I’ve been reading this on and off for a second time to prepare for books 3 & 4. It has an interesting story line with a lot of cringy parts that need overlooked. Still a good read. And the line that I just had to put down my kindle for a good five minutes was,"Because I felt like you could bake a pizza inside my lady cave."
This is definitely a RH fantasy, but just not my cup of tea. This book finds our heroine in a base state where her character feels far too bratty and immature for the romance level. She also is a bit lack luster in the kick ass department. It wasn't bad, just a little like watching a supernatural teen drama (again, not my cupa). I'm gonna just end this here....end my relationship with the series and this review. As always dear friends ♡ Good reading!
This is like a grown up Harry potter with the Harry Potter references & other pop culture references that make it funny.
Things really get spicy in this book but it flows with the book and makes sense to me.
We met the vampire sire who turned her one guy. She has her first ever girl friend, who just happened to be engaged to another guy she liked.
She had to go find a magical tree to make her own wand and she met a fae.
The magical council traps her familiar into his fox form.
He accidentally lead them to the headmaster’s familiar and they out him for not being who he said he was (this was a twist I wasn’t expecting but I love it! It completely makes sense as to why he was trying to help make the school more progressive)
The magical council is taking over the school and it’s not for the better!
I wish Goodreads allowed half-star ratings, this was definitely closer to a 4.5 in my book - I really loved the huge plot twists and developments, especially in the last third of the book. I audibly gasped at the big reveal (no spoilers) and might've teared up at what followed but in a way that made me fall even more in love with the world that Lidiya has created. Hearing more about her mother's past from her dad was a big emotional highlight too.
The council is pure evil, IMO, and I can't wait to see where this story goes next. I've downloaded both of the next books so I can devour them ASAP. I'm so happy to see the FMC growing and challenging the rules and the bonds that have formed within and out of the RH. I didn't think I would like Daisy, but I really came to like her character and am invested in her sub-storyline. I don’t usually like Bully Romance but I don’t totally hate Harris... HAM's dynamic works somehow. I also am head over heels for Alec *dreamy sigh* and I love that he got more background and air time in the book because you really get the chance to like him too. Don't get me wrong, I love Monte & Firion too but they were so much easier to adore right off the bat. Firion doted on Char immediately and Montague took it upon himself to protect Char and court her while everyone else was still being horrid to her.
I also really love that we FINALLY got more back story on her mom, what the heck has been going on with the school, and more about the very "this sounds like blatant propaganda" re: the council and the division of worlds.
I didn't like (more personal preference than something "wrong" with the story): that the FMC bounces between "I'm the MFing chosen one" to "I have no idea what I'm doing and I want to go home" like every other chapter; I know its a complex situation and she's college-age so obviously some immaturity still but good grief girl pick a side and commit to it. She also does the same thing with the whole "I'm a super horny lady and deserve and can handle all these men" to a meek "oh no I can't talk about this openly with my partners its so embarrassing", I have a hard time with wishy-washy FMCs. I also got a little annoyed with the heavy emphasis on purity and save yourself for marriage because that's power crap from Harris; but I'm chalking it up to one of his character flaws and moving on.

This book would suit a teenager looking for a supernatural romance.
The first book was absolutely incredible but I feel that this book has let it down a bit in the writing. It has turned very much from a naive witch breaking the rules of the old warlocks and witches and exploring her powers with some hot guys to a YA novel of problem after problem with no making a stand or any solutions mixed in with realistic sex scenes - I'm talking like someone's actual first time, every time. The constant 'does that feel good?' and 'this feels great to me, are you alright?'' kinda ruined it for me. I read books to have a different reality for a while and so I was excited to see the relationships of the characters grow but the sex scenes actually turned me off from reading them as it was describe in a very immature way that is just not my taste anymore, however it would suit someone younger as it is the language would connect with teenagers.
I did skip through some scenes as there was a lot of telling the story and not really capturing me into it. In saying all that, I do love everything else I have read from Lidiya and I am thinking that this is just one that didn't do it for me.
I would recommend to teenagers who are just starting to branch into reverse harem and want a supernatural twist.
I enjoyed this 2nd installment of the A Witch Among Warlocks series, though there didn't seem to be as much going on in this one until the end. I was excited by the blurb, but found it kind of misleading, in that all the mentioned conflicts seemed to get cleared up rather quickly. I was hoping for more of a showdown with the vampires.
The personal relationships grow in this one, though, and I felt that there was more of my baby, Monty, too, which I was happy about. And despite Firian's current predicament, with Monty, Alec, and Harris seeming to come around (and being protective)...Charlotte is a lucky beeyotch, lol. I am also glad that Daisy got more time, and it seems that her end fate in this book will be one of the big plot points in the next.
The big Big Reveal took me by surprise, but it didn't seem misplaced. I appreciated the twist, and hope the character affected isn't gone for good.
I received an advanced copy from the author, and am voluntarily leaving a review.
“When I saw Mrs. Simon tell Jan she was ‘drinking the Kool-aid,” and the whole town tossing gun statistics at each other on a post that started with ‘Got my Flu Shot’ I decided this was not a thing I wanted in on.” 💀
— Our FMC talking about Facebook.
Such a beautiful summation of the internet. I can’t wait to see what is said in more recent books if this was pre-pandemic haha.
This is also where I see Daisy is still very present and seeming like a possible friend. I really really hope she doesn’t turn out to be evil. She strikes me as someone in a fake fake world craving some type of realness.
Spoilers:
Update: ok daisy is good and I love her. Actually, Charlotte is the bad friend lol. Daisy is in the middle of a legit crisis and Char is her only confidant, but instead of listening Char is busy thinking about how hot the stodgy Harris is and having a ball in her gifted gown while her benefactor leaves the room in tears. Booooo. Team Daisy all the way.
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
Things are really getting interesting now!! We catch back up with Charlotte during the summer after her powers are bound and she was kicked out of school. Her and the guys come up with this big plan that should get her back in but I must say it comes with quite a few things that just horribly wrong or just plain disastrous consequences. It made me giggle quite a few times as well as wonder what in the world would go wrong now. The story is moving along at a great pace pulling the reader into the world as it progresses. With the way this one ended we are going to be in for even more surprises with the next book. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
Rules are made to be broken. This book is definitely better than the first and has some great plot twists that have me eagerly wanting to see where this goes. I was on the edge of my seat at the ending! I mean I power read thru the scene and had to go back and reread what I just read to make sure I didn’t miss anything! It was an epic surprise!!
I love how quirky and fun this book is. I mean I look forward to all the geeky or nerdy references eagerly. I love it! This resonates with me. Plus having a list of forbidden phrases?! I laughed so hard at all the popular movie and book references that were listed. This is a great read that you can just lose yourself in the words but still has some great plot points that pack a punch and keep you fully engaged. I did receive an arc.
This book was much improved over the last book in every area. There were several exciting twists, the writing was better though still a little juvenile at times. The relationships and sexy times are not over done. Harris is a jerk and I'm not sure how the author is going to redeem him. I like alphas, but they have to have redeeming qualities. I really hope the Daisy situation is resolve next book. This book ends in a cliffhanger like book one, but entire series is out. This series must be read in order. Charlotte is learning quickly, but not quickly enough it seems. There is a constant power struggle over Char between the witches and warlocks. There unlikely alliances and numerous surprises in this book. Looking forward to book three.
I knew when I read the first book I’d be hooked. There is so much to this story - gender norms, sexism, taboo desires, embracing your sexuality, and the typical “chosen one”, possible end of the world(s) sitch. I freaking love the pop culture references and pretty much all of Charlotte. shes not completely fearless but she tries to be, she is loyal and loves hard. Things are looking bleak at the end of this book, but if anyone can do it, HAM, Firian and Char will turn it around.
Tl;dr - read this fun, action packed, mysterious, thought provoking paranormal RH by a kickarse author!
This book picks off a few months after the first one finishes, and you are told that Charlotte has nearly recovered. I thought that the incident with Harris and the vampires was completely anti-climactic. It had the potential to be a great conflict and they just let him go when he agreed to make a deal with them. I felt that there was a little too much going on in the book and some of the things needed more explanation . I am still going to read the next instalment as I want to find out hat happens.

The headmaster admits he was part of the plot to give Charlotte her uncle's powers, but there is so much more going on! Family reunions from beyond the grave, a whole clan of vampires devoted to an undying lover, Daisy's doom just for attempting to be herself, not to mention incubus work-arounds and how to make a familiar really miserable. This series is no longer just for Young Adults. It's time for Revolution.
Charlotte, Harris, Firian, Monty, and Alec continue to try to find a way to beat the Withered Lord. The suspense and drama continues to build and our crew have to over come so much. The world building in this series is amazing and the characters are very realist. They find allies in their fight but suspicious characters are everywhere.
Wow! I enjoyed this so much! It was laugh out loud funny and had the perfect amount of steam. I feel like I really got to know Charlotte in this book and I loved how she grew throughout the story. The guys are so sweet and totally perfect for her. My favourite thing was how many pop-culture references Charlotte managed to slip in. I am absolutely looking forward to the next book!!
What a sequel! Lots of stuff going on in this book-demons, vamps, prissy witches, power hungry warlocks, mysterious fae lords.....oh my! Relationship dynamics change in the best if ways just to have a curve ball ending I never saw coming. I can't wait for book 3.
What a great follow-up to the first book, Char got herself into plenty of trouble in book one. But now things are getting real, especially now that she is learning how to control her powers and not to mention down right dirty with her guys. I did cry a bit at the end, the council is mean as hell. I can't wait to dive into the next book!
The title is very accurate for this book. The FMC, Charlotte, chose to keep her boy(friend)s rather than gain extra powers by giving up her boys and going to “the dark side.” This sequel is steamier than the first, and continues the storyline of the warlock college and the mystery surrounding how Charlotte came to be enrolled in an all-boys school.
Wow! Not all second books in a series live up to the hype of the first book but this one is good! Charlotte and her harem get into more messes at school and some secrets are revealed and many more questions are raised. I look forward to the next book!
I don’t know what to say except that I can’t wait to see what Charlotte and her men can do to right the wrong that’s happened to them and hopefully fix what’s been broken.
Omg this book was awesome. Loved the first one now I love the second one too. And now I can't wait for the third one. Love this authors work. Highly recommend reading these books. But read the first one before this one.
I had a lot of difficulty with the sexism in this series but otherwise I very much enjoyed it. I can't wait for the next book and will continue to pray that Harris is made to eat enough humble pie to feed a small nation.
One day Harrison will give up and find his place beside her I just know it!!!! Warlocks just don’t have a chance against The Chosen One, especially not the Sucubi and the Vampire not to mention that hot tailed Fox!! I soooo look forward to book 3!
I love how the storyline is getting deeper and more intricate. The characters are growing into their parts and getting so much more sexy. The world building is so incredible and amazing
So I really liked the idea of turning the established order on its head. Charlotte has her work cut out for her on that front and by the end of the book she does suffer some setbacks, but the series continues....
Charlotte’s story just keeps getting better and better. This book was a tough read because things honestly didn’t go completely like you, as a reader, would want them to but they added to the intrigue. I’m practically salivating over what happens next!
Oh yeah, this series is gooood! Charlotte and the boys are knew deep in trouble but are navigating it well. Still a few shocks I didn't expect. I can't wait to read this next one.
This was another great book. I feel so bad for them about her fox. She loves her guys so much. I think Harris is coming around but still won't tell her he wants to be with her. Maybe the next book?
