Riktīgi forša grāmata. Domāju, ka bērni priecāsies noteikti, bet kā pieaugušais arī kārtīgi izpriecājos. Uzzināju arī daudz jauna. Asprātīgs teksts (varbūt vietām satraucošs tiem, kas visu uztver burtiski, bet domāju, ka bērniem ar to problēmu nebūs), burvīgas ilustrācijas.

November 14, 2024Kaku daļa bija interesanta, pārēja mazāk, bet joprojām forša. Taču grūti lasāma grāmata, ja kā vakara pasaku izvēlas, jo maz lasāmā, bet daudz nosaukumu vai faktu. Kopumā man patika :)

A good cookbook for middle grade and up, does not talk down to the reader, and gives them the information they need to bake a cake, or cookies, just as adult cook books do.
And tracking book, as in tracking animals, do the same thing, or at least they should. In this case, not only did they give you all the information you need to track animals, but they also warn you which ones you probably shouldn’t be tracking and why.
The book is sectioned off with the different ways you can tell what animals has been by, from poop, as the title says, to feathers, to foot prints to nest to eggs.
The pictures are very clear, as in you can really see the poop and other stuff.
Thoroughly enjoyable and informative book for junior dectives in the field. Good for schools teaching about animals, because, of course, what kid doesn’t like to find out a poop. Also good for libraries and home.

..ļoti raiba un krāsaina grāmata. un pilna ar lieliskām zināšanām. atliek vien iet pastaigā pa mežu un pavērot to, ko varbūt iepriekš nemaz netiku uzlūkojis. un vēl: kopš grāmatu saņēmu, meita "Kakas..." vien grib šķirstīt.

Nosaukums ir visnotaļ efektīvs un uzmanību (kā pieaugušā, tā bērna) piesaista uzreiz. Taču grāmata ir tik daudz reiz vairāk kā tikai piesaistošs nosaukums. Grāmata ir izglītojoša un izzinoša par dzīvnieku pasauli, proti par visu to, ko tie aiz sevis atstāj un, ko tas mums cilvēkiem var pastāstīt. Dzīvnieki aiz sevis atstāj pēdas, spalvas, pamestus mājokļus un, jā, arī, kakas.
Grāmatā bērniem tiek aicināti doties dabā un palūkoties apkārt uz pēdu nospiedumiem, apgrauztiem čiekuriem, kas varbūt ir peles pusdienu pārpalikumi, aizdomāties, kas varētu būt mielojies ar sēni, kādam putnam pieder atrastās spalvas, pievērst uzmanību dažādām dzīvnieku un putnu mājvietām un vēl daudz kā cita.

Krásná, bohatě ilustrovaná knížka s úplně debilním českým názvem.
V originále je to "The Clue Is In the Poop: And Other Things Too".
Věnovaná je totiž stopování a rozpoznávání divokých zvířat podle různých znamení, která nechávají za sebou. Takže ano, je tam několik stránek věnované tomu, jak rozpoznávat trus některých zvířat. Mnohem větší část je ale věnovaná stopám a způsobu života různých divokých tvorů.
Ideální pro zvědavé děti, věk odhadem 5-9 let. (My jsme četli v téměř 6 letech.)
V originále je to "The Clue Is In the Poop: And Other Things Too".
Věnovaná je totiž stopování a rozpoznávání divokých zvířat podle různých znamení, která nechávají za sebou. Takže ano, je tam několik stránek věnované tomu, jak rozpoznávat trus některých zvířat. Mnohem větší část je ale věnovaná stopám a způsobu života různých divokých tvorů.

Kā vakarā lasāmā grāmata īsti neder, bet interesantu faktu bija daudz. Visvairāk uzrunāja tieši sadaļa par kakām.

I wasn't much of a fan when I came into contact with this book due to the title. Although after reading the book it does make sense as to its use but the book does more than focus just that singular item so I think another title could have been perhaps used.
The book is clearly written for an immature audience although some older readers may enjoy it. The writing is easy to follow, simple to understand and relies heavily on brightly colored illustrations to help prove the point that the author is trying to get across.
Furthermore the author does a great job in covering species that most readers will come across in life. But for those who are interested in bigger prey to track there are thrown in some marine facts and African animals as well as an occasional highlight page that explores even more dangerous animals to follow such as lions and komodo dragons if you were to ever come across them.
And to help readers to retain the information there are quizzes after each focused section that are multiple answers. As a result the book is kind of busy but in a decent way where it isn't overwhelming readers who are trying to learn what is in its pages.
The illustrations are singularly interesting. Bright and cartooney they are made to help emphasize the text such as different types of eggs, homes, etc. The only thing that threw me for a loop with the illustrations was the fact that the eyes seemed too strange in how they were drawn.
All in all it was a decent book and with some kid-friendly comments and jokes I think this will be a nice book for science classes or for children who enjoy the outdoors.

The book starts with telling the reader about what they need to do to be a nature detective, and what tools a tracker need. Apart from a sharp pair of eyes some of the essential tools include a measuring tape, tweezers, a camera, and a stick.
Author Andy Seed then presents us with facts about the bigger the poo the bigger the animal, facts about faeces, footprint fun, minibeast accommodation, and Skull-Duggery. So, you can see its not just about the poo, but other things animals leave behind like feathers, eggs, footprints and partially chewed remains of food.
Non Fiction opens a child’s mind to possibilities and a book like this encourages a child to get outside as well as learning from the fun facts, quizzes and comparing animals, all in a fun and informative way. I find books like this are great for children that don’t learn as well by being talked at, but rather exploring through words and pictures at their own pace.
The book has been beautifully illustrated and a lot of detail has gone into each page. Each skull, poop, footprint, bug, and creature is detailed and I imagine that the Claire Almon did a lot of research to bring an accurate portrayal to the reader.
In some ways this book is a delightful sense of bizarre and readers aged 5-12 are going to have a lot of fun with it. It’s fresh (well not on the nose) and packed with facts, and is perfect not only for a personal book collection, but would be a great learning tool for classrooms and home schooling families. Whether it’s a small or big poo, wide or slithery tracks there is bound to be something in the book for everyone.

Varmasti mielenkiintoisella tavalla toteutettu tietokirja lapsille, ja helposti vanhemmillekin. Paljon selkeitä ja hyvin piirrettyjä kuvia, joiden ohessa kiteytetyt kuvatekstit. Lisäksi paljon erilaisia infolaatikoita ja tietovisoja. Asiat käydään läpi selkeästi ja kiinnostava koukku edellä. Kirjan alkupuolella käytiin läpi monien eri eläinlajien jätösten/ulosteiden/kakkojen ominaisuuksia, kuten ulkomuotoa, hajua, väriä, rakennetta. Kakkaan suhtauduttiin biologin otteella, neutraalisti ja tieteentekijän asenteella. Vaikka kakka voi olla lapsilukijan mielestä aluksi hauska juttu, tämä kirja saattaa imaista mukaansa myös muiden biologian aiheiden pariin. Loppupuolella aletaan käsitellä eläinten luontoon jättämiä jälkiä yleisemmin. Sulkia, luita, pesiä, oksennuksia, fossiileja jne. Näin voi oppia tunnistamaan eläinten jälkiä varsin laajalti vaikka metsässä liikkuessaan. Kirjassa on melko paljon tekstiä, joten se sopii paremmin ehkä 3.-luokkalaisista ylöspäin, vaikka Espoon kaupunginkirjaston Kunnari-kirjadiplomissa tämä oli kyllä jo 1.-2.-luokkalaisten listassa.

A great introduction to tracking animals through a number of different methods - from the titular poo clues, through to tracks, feathers, nests, eggs and even the half-eaten meals that they leave behind. So if you find a pile of poo in the wilderness, this book should help you to identify what animal group it comes from, and help you narrow it down! It also has handy reference guides to the scary sides of nature that you should avoid when you're out there - from lions to bears to snakes and other dangerous beasts.
A great book for kids, who will love the title and hopefully learn a lot when they read it!

If I were a little child interested in animals and nature, I'd go crazy over this book. I believe books can change lives and I genuinely believe this may create a lot of nature detectives! Any child, living near greenery, can enjoy this book and then go to his/her adventures.
I love how this book teaches a lot without being boring, and I enjoyed answering the little tests about each subject. The illustrations are highly informative and pleasant to look at.

Kids will love becoming nature detectives with this wonderful book, filled with fascinating information about ‘reading’ the environment (using animal poo, amongst other things, as clues). The interactivity of this book is terrific, with quizzes and a checklist for all the tools a tracker will need. A great book to get kids out and about, exploring the natural world.

This is a great book, after all which child doesn’t love poo? The images are lovely, although it would have been better if there are photographs of the poo. This is a great on for school libraries or young wildlife lovers.

Great book for little detectives. This had my boys interested and wanting to learn. Full of great illustrations and facts. I would recommend.
