If you know nothing about cyptocurrency this is book is probably for you. I admired the statistics Derousseau gave (like >80% of ICO are complete scams) and repetitive cautions that he gave when investing in this highly volatile, speculative market. Also, he does mention the current main players in the crypto market so this book focuses on breath rather than depth. Perhaps my rating is a bit harsh as he achieves the goal of covering a relatively wide range of cryptos in a pretty short, easy to read book.
I read Don and Alex Tapscott's 'Blockchain Revolution' more than a year ago and wanted to look for a book which explains the underlying technology involved in different cryptos.
I can't remember why I didn't really enjoy Tapscott's book even though it goes through concepts like proof of work, proof of stake in an in depth manner unlike this one.
So, my search for another blockchain book continues.
If you're interested in investing in cryptocurrency, make sure you check the legality in your country or state! Don't rely on this book - the laws are changing too quickly to trust any printed text. Overall the book is an excellent resource, but I found it amusing that it was published in 2019 and already certain things are out of date.
The author advocates buying for the long term, and repeatedly cautions about the dangers of short-term trading and day trading. That's appropriate advice for a total beginner, but if you're experienced and understand the risks then you might want a book that goes into more depth about those strategies. I feel like I've just learned the basics, and there is so much more to learn.
In my reviews I am always worried that people will read my review and think did he read the same book as I did. I am worried that I will not remember the book correctly. I thought this book was Ok. I liked the glossary and resources sections at the end of the book. By reading this book I learned a lot more about cyptocurrency than I knew before I read this book. I thought cryptocurrency began and ended with bitcoin. That is sure not true. The reason I got the book to read was because I read a headline from a news article that said something like Bitcoin takes a lot of energy to mine. I don't think I will be mining bitcoin anytime soon or ever. It thought this book was worth the read. What else do I want to say about the book? Nothing.
In short, the author has done a good job in explaining what is cryptocurrency is all about, and the guide and insights on how to investing in Cryptocurrency. Some of the key takeaways are very useful, especially for new investors in general or investors interested into cryptocurrency investing. The whole content of this book consists of the basic understanding of Cryptocurrency, the explanation about some of the well known coins, the guide for investors and the prospects about the future. I highly recommend reading this book first before venturing on cryptocurrency investing.
Amazing book covering not only specifics about many cryoptos, blockchain, etc but also very holistic covering portfolio theories, taxes, and literally as the title sugests, everything you need to know a/o keep in mind.
Finally, I was able to comprehend what block chain and cryptocurrency are. And helped me to make my mind about whether or not I should invest buying cryptocurrency. Very well written
A few interesting thoughts in there, but overall no real insights into how to invest better in crypto space. No recommendation of tool, method to better analyze a coin, no practical example
