Guardians of Eternity #12

When Darkness Ends

Rate this book
The Guardians of Eternity are facing a final battle to save their world—but battles of the heart may be the most difficult to fight…

Cyn, the vampire clan chief of Ireland, is an unabashed hedonist whose beauty is surpassed only by his insatiable appetite for pleasure. It’s no wonder he’s furious when he’s transported from the magical land of the pureblooded feys to his desolate medieval castle—only to have his very existence thrown into a chaos that even he cannot charm his way out of…

Most women may be all but powerless against Cyn, but Fallon, a sharp-witted fairy princess, is less than beguiled by the silver-tongued vampire. She’s a serious soul with no time for the sort of games he plays—especially when they learn that someone is trying to close the veil that separates the dimensions. But seduction may prove the most powerful force of all, as attraction ignites between the unlikely pair even as worlds are colliding around them…

I'm not exactly sure when I fell in love with books. Probably on my mother's knee listening to her read Dr. Seuss to me. I do remember that I was barely old enough to cross the street by myself when I discovered the delights of the local library. Could anything be more wonderful than spending summer days surrounded by stacks of Nancy Drew mysteries? Over the years I fell in love with Victoria Holt, Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, and J.R.R. Tolkien just to name a few. I read poetry, essays, biographies, and plays. In fact, I read anything I could get my hands on.

Years later (no, I'm not admitting how many) I'm still an avid reader, and my tastes are still as varied as they were in my youth, which I suppose helps to explain why I enjoy writing regency historicals under the name of Deborah Raleigh, as well as my contemporary paranormals as Alexandra Ivy. For now that is enough to keep me busy, but who knows what the future might hold!

I do have a few other loves in my life besides reading and writing, the most important being my unbelievably patient husband, David, and my two sons, Chance and Alexander. Without their constant support and belief in me, I never could have been able to follow my dreams. They are truly my heroes.

So here we are, at the last book of the Guardians of eternity series (a spin-off is coming soon though :) Burned by Darkness ), I really have enjoyed the series a lot, some books more than others as is the nature of book series.

Cyn is the vampire clan chief of Ireland, also a beserker (how cool is that, a beserker vampire) and before meeting the love of his life was a man slut.

Fallon is a Chatri (fey) princess , a very proud, otherwise engaged and yearning for freedom and adventure princess.

Cyn and Fallon are taken from the Chatri world and bought back to earth by the oracle who needs their help and their skills to locate the person who is messing with the Commission.

Both the characters were previously introduced in the series and both of them are unique so I was looking forward to their story and it did not disappoint. They were sparks from the first time they met which was in the last book, Cyn was dumbfounded when he saw Fallon, that scene made me laugh (yes, I reread that bit before starting this book). Their interactions were a joy to read, mainly because they have that how-dare-you-I-hate-you-but-I-kinda-lust-after-you-and-I'll-die-before-I-let-you-know-that vibe going on which ofcourse later turned into love, which I really enjoyed.

There's also a secondary romance between  Prince Magnus (fiancé of Fallon) and Tonya, an Imp (in charge of one of Viper's clubs). They had great chemistry too, with the Prince being all arrogant and Tonya not bowing down to him beause of his 'status'.

There was quite a bit of suspense, tension and adventure in the book as the characters race to find to stop the enemy from killing every demon on the planet. We also have some cameos from previous characters for e.g Styxx, Dante and viper and some mentions of the King of Were Salvatore and his house being invaded by women because of the birth of his children. I would have liked to see more of the older cast members especially the female ones.

My first issue was that the book should have been a bit longer so that we could have more of updates on the previous protagonists in the series and more of Cyn and Fallon but because of the overall plot (and the secondary romance) they got lesser scenes in the book and I wanted more of them, they were pretty interesting. And my second issue was; as I mentioned earlier about the secondary romance, I believe that Magnus and Tonya should have gotten their own novella atleast because they were equally interesting and deserved a more paced romance than the rushed one we got.

Overall , it was a fun read and a good end to a engaging series and I'm looking forward to the dragon spin off Burned by Darknesscoming in late June.

If you are going to end a series, what better way to do it but with perfection. The perfect couple, the perfect romance, the perfect past character interaction.

I can honestly say, I didn't want this book to end.

Cyn and Fallon find themselves transported into a mystery surrounding the powerful Oracles. Evil lies in wait. Deeper they delve, the scarier the threat becomes.

Cyn is known for his womanizing while Fallon is struggling with an arranged marriage to an arrogant ass of a Chatri. They might try to skirt around their attraction for each other but when they fall, they fall hard.

This has been a marvelous, riveting and exciting series. I could happily read 12 more books with these characters and still feel like I couldn't get enough. All the loose ends have been neatly and creatively woven into a fabulous conclusion.

Feeling a little bereft with the thoughts of this series coming to a close, I find solace knowing I will revisit the Guardians of Eternity series again and again.

Thank you Alexandra Ivy, for sharing your masterful creativity and imaginings with us all. You made us laugh, you made us cry and you made a short, awkward gargoyle a hero.

Say it isn’t so, the final Guardians of Eternity book. I’ve loved this series from the very beginning. Alexandra Ivy has created a paranormal world that doesn’t just focus on one otherworldly species. She has brought in so many different species that it has allowed for each book to remain fresh and exciting. The various villains have kept that going as well. When Darkness Ends brings together a Chatri princess and a clan chief vampire with the pairing of Cyn and Fallon.
Cyn and Fallon meet in Hunt the Darkness. The assignment that the Oracles place upon them is what puts them working together. One of the Oracles realizes that something is not right among them. While there is a pretty good hunch as to what is amiss they need some outside assistance to right the wrongs. Fallon’s royal Chatri blood has given her the ability to scry in a way which most others cannot. The Oracles need this to find out exactly who or what is behind what is going on among them.
For a vampire Cyn has been raised (from a foundling) by a different set of parents. It has given him a historical knowledge of species other than vampires. The Oracles know that he can assist Fallon with putting a stop to what is going on with the Oracles. Cyn’s top priority soon becomes Fallon. He realizes almost immediately that she is his mate and he doesn’t exactly fight it, his past comes back to bite him more often than not.
Fallon and Cyn as a romantic pairing makes for a super sexy read. He respects her and sees her as a female he wants in his life. He treats her like a person. Fallon has spent her whole life being treated as a special object that one must obtain to elevates ones social standing. Fallon has an interesting mix of intelligence, wit, and innocence.
Readers who have followed this series from the beginning like me will love that some of their favorite past characters make an appearance while having small roles. And of course Levet is there to play matchmaker and save the day.

In the words of Cyn,the hero of this book..Awesome,Fucking Awesome!!!! What a ride this series has been,I am glad to have hopped on this train for the journey.
This couple,Cyn ,a vampire beserker clan chief ,and Fallon ,a Chatri princess were the perfect couple to end this series with. Some past heros make appearances to once again save the world from a bad guy and my beloved Levert was in the action too.How he loves to rile the heros.Wonderful second romance characters who had plenty of chemistry with each other.
Loved that the hero was all about his mate ,now this is my kind of hero, crazy in love, jealous and possessive.Reading the last few paragraphs,I felt sad that this series ended, but Alexandra Ivy did a wonderful job with a fitting ending. There was nothing that I did not love in this book ,so a full 5*** read for me.

The Guardians are facing a final battle to save their world but for Cyn and Fallon seduction may prove the most powerful force of all, as their attraction ignites even as the worlds are colliding around them in this breathtaking paranormal romance.

Cyn and Fallon are forced to team up to discover just what force is strong enough to close the veils that separate the dimensions and the reader can’t help but get caught up in all the fiery clashes that happen between this combustible couple. Their attraction may seem as certain as it is hot but there’s quite a few obstacles in the way not to mention their struggle against said attraction which adds quite a bit of spice, humor and emotional turmoil to their romance. The fast paced and smooth flowing plot thrills readers with lots of suspense, action and passion while all the strong captivating characters continue to hold readers captive.

There is never a dull moment as there is lots of tension and excitement throughout the story not only between Cyna and Fallon but with other character as well. Anticipation builds as the danger escalates and they all begin to realize just what the enemy has planned and vivid imagery brings the story to life and plants the reader right in the middle of all that excitement keeping expectations high while the spine tingling events ensure that the reader can’t put the book down.

I can’t believe that this is the final Guardians of Eternity book, it has certainly been one of my favorites since I fell in love with Styxx and of course all the others as well including Levet, but at the same time I think the Guardians deserve time to enjoy their happily ever afters without a villain trying to end it all. That being said, I think that Alexandra Ivy brought this series to a wonderful conclusion with a spectacular final battle. I also want to congratulate Levet on his new business venture, sounds like he can have quite a bit of fun with that.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!
***Received a copy of the ebook for an honest review

The cover is awesome and Cyn looks completely sexy :)

This is the 12th book in the series, but this doesn’t count all the awesome novellas there are too :) I’m ashamed to admit that I didn’t realize until I requested this book how woefully behind I am in this series. I have read the first 6 books and the novella that follows; however this is before I started writing reviews. So I am definitely going to have to break out the books I’ve already read and review them, and then get my hands on all the books I haven’t read yet. Ok, I’m done with my tangent ;)

I really love Alexandra’s style because she is a fabulous story teller who weaves these incredible and complex stories, but she also adds in humor and awesome women who won’t be put on a pedestal or locked away being told what to do. They stand next to their mates ready to do battle which makes for a fantastic adventure every time.

This is Cyn and Fallon’s story with some of my favorites coming along for the ride too (Styx, Dante, Viper, and Levet). Cyn is the domineering male vampire who is a berserker. Fallon is a Chatri princess. The Chatri are the ancient pure blood fae. Fallon has a fiery spirit that she has finally let free. Of course they have been chosen to save the world by the Oracles. I really loved being sucked into their story. I can’t wait to come back to this world because silly me forgot how awesome it is.

I highly recommend this series to all paranormals fans because Alexandra has plenty to love for all paranormal enthusiasts and of course if you already love Alexandra Ivy’s work, you do not want to miss this one :)

As one of my original paranormal romance series I was a bit sad to see this finally ending although it was probably time. When Darkness Ends followed the Guardians of Eternity formula with the book's featured couple Cyn the Irish vampire Clan Chief and the Chatri Princess Fallon overcoming their differences with a HEA (plus a bonus HEA with Tonya the Imp and Prince Magnus who nearly stole the show) the Guardians successfully fighting another big bad trying to take over the world and Levet, the vertically challenged gargoyle's usual amusing presence. It was quite enjoyable although perhaps I would have liked to see more of the ensemble cast coming together in a spectacular battle to finish the series it did end on a feel good note - now I'm wondering where she will go with her self-published spinoff series , Dragons of Eternity coming soon.

3.5 - 4 stars.

When Darkness Ends is the final book in the Guardians of Eternity series. Cyn is the Clan Chief of Ireland and Fallon a Fae Princess. As with the previous books they are forced together to save the world. I enjoyed the story and the connection between the two but to be being honest I'm tired of so many threats to the world and would have been happy with the end being the last book. That being said Cyn and Fallon were really enjoyable and Viper is always a plus. Nice ending to an enjoyable series.

I personally thought this one was boring. It was nice halfway through, but then it was not holding much of my attention. I think I don't like it when the hero has a past with too many women in it. When a series is too long, you always wonder if it is worth continuing reading it...

“I’ve waited for you for longer than you could ever possibly imagine”

I think I say this for every Alexandra Ivy book but it feels like I’ve waited forever for this book. I know it hasn’t been that long but every time I’m waiting for a Guardians of Eternity book to come out, time doesn’t seem to pass. I believe that the main reason I feel this way is because I know that I’m going to love the characters and the book. I’, also not a very patient person when it comes to book!

Cyn, the vampire clan chief of Ireland and Fallon, Sally’s sister and the Chatri princess are in a lot of trouble. The Oracles are being manipulated by a strange threat and Siljar demands that Fallon and Cyn find and eliminate the threat before it’s too late. Someone pulls the strings, he wants to control the Oracles and make them cast a spell that will eventually result in the death of all demons. Cyn and Fallon will have to figure out who the threat is or else they all will be doomed.

This was… I have no words! It was just fabulous. It captured my attention from the very beginning and in the end it made me feel nostalgic. Cyn and Fallon were the best couple. Even from the previous book there was something between them that it just couldn’t be ignored. Their competitive relationship, their arrogance and stubbornness, their determination and protectiveness were what captivated me.

Cyn was a great leader but when he was around Fallon he forgot everything. The bond between them was a strong one even if they denied its existence. You could tell they were in sync from the very beginning.

I could go on and on about my love for Cyn and Fallon but I really want to talk about the secondary characters. There were plenty characters from the previous books. Almost every character in the series is mentioned but there were only a few who had an important role in the book. Styx, Viper, Dante even Levet were some of the active secondary characters. We also get to meet Fallon’s fiancé, Magnus. I have to admit that I wasn’t such a huge fan of his in the beginning but as you get to know him better, which you will, you will just love him too. I don’t want to say much about his character but he is more arrogant than Cyn and I think that says a lot.

The end made me feel so nostalgic. I can’t believe that this is the end of the series. The end of the book was perfect, I had no problem with the book I just can’t believe that it’s over. The book totally prepares you for the end of the series but still I can’t say that I’m not sad. I’ve been following this series since the first book came out. I always waited for the next book to be released, always loved the stories and every unique character and now I just can’t let that feeling go. To say that it was an incredible journey would be an understatement!

When Darkness Ends will totally satisfy you. The last book in the Guardians of Eternity series is nothing but perfect. Action- packed, full of suspense, romance, a sexy arrogant, bad-ass alpha hero and an equally stubborn heroine. This book is a must read (actually the whole series is a must read).

Just read it! Highly recommended!

~ 4.5 When Darkness Ends Stars ~

When Darkness Ends is the final book in the Guardians of Eternity series by Alexandria Ivy.

What a delightful ending to a wondrous series. This novel can be read as a stand-a-lone, but if you are planing on reading the rest of the series then you should save this one for last. AIvy gives us a wonderful recap of what has happened to our characters in the last year and all the things they have gone through to avoid disaster and find love. Throughout this series the women have all been excellent compliments to their mate with a fierce and independent streak to drive any man bat shit crazy. The same goes for these men. They can be exasperating, but they are fierce and protective of what they hold dear.

I throughly enjoyed this novel. Fallon and Cyn, where perfect for each other. These two tease and taunt, giving us some fun scenes to read about. When they come together the chemistry is combustable. Fallon and Cyn’s strength, stubbornness, and resolve where what caught my eye. They protect with such determination and steadfastness.

The plot is developed. Giving the characters one last threat to deal with and the return of some of our favorite characters from previous novels. No matter what disaster is coming, these men and women (vampires, werewolves, demons, fey) stick together to form new bonds and find love with their one true mate. Levet is not left out. He brings his usually humor to the pages. I felt very nostalgic having all these older characters come back.

AIvy wrapped everything up nicely at the end, with a sweet epilogue showing everyone happy, settled, and safe. Some fans maybe sad Levet never got an HEA. I actually loved how the author ended the novel with him and all the others. It was a perfect ending to a wonderful series.

Don't miss out on this finally installment of the Guardians of Eternity. It will leave you feeling content. This has been a fun series to read full of romance, sexy arrogant alphas, and stubborn heroines. I recommended pick up this series.

Oh no it's the final book in this series and it's been such a fun journey. I suppose all good things have to come to an end and this roller coaster of a ride feels suiting some how. Yes it's finally the turn of the vampire Cyn to fall in love and boy does he fall hard! Never has a vampire struggled more not( yes you read that right) not to claim his Mate and the object of his affections? Well step up Fallon, Chatri and ancient pure blood of the fey realm oh and did I mention she's a princess? A princess with a very arrogant and demanding fiancée and now here she is in Cyns world and they are supposed to work together? Something truly evil is going on and one of the much revered Oracles believes that Cyn and Fallon ( with a little help from our favourite gargoyle) can prevent Armageddon . Hey that's not what Cyn had planned for today but the longer he spends time with Fallon the more the fate of the world links them together. So a hedonistic vampire and a cool as a cucumber Princess now what could possibly go wrong? Yes chalk is about to meet cheese !
Lots going on here and previous stories all get tied neatly up too. It's been a thrill filled series peopled with interesting characters and it was sheer joy to see old favourites appear in this book. It seems that all these books impinge upon saving the world somehow but Ms Ivy ties it all neatly up with this book and there's even a sweet epilogue . This series has captured many readers imagination with it's mixture of paranormal , romance, danger and of course humour. I'm truly sad this has ended but loved how it all made sense. Ms Ivy take a bow and give your characters a well deserved break as they have truly entertained this reader for many a long night! Oh and I love the cover! I was gifted a copy of this in exchange for an honest review

All good things must come to an end and so it is with Alexandra Ivy's Guardian's of Eternity series. WHEN DARKNESS ENDS is the final book and it doesn't disappoint.

I've been reading about the Guardians of Eternity since book one and have come to love all the characters that populate that world, including one of the best sidekicks in all romance--Levet. I'm happy to say Levet is back once again to help save the day, as only the lovable but inept gargoyle can. I'm sorry to see the series end, but am glad that the author has given us such a wonderful book to finish what has been a truly amazing series.

In this final installment, Cyn, the berserker-vampire, and Fallon, the pure-blood fey princess, are sucked into a race to prevent a new danger from destroying the world as they know it. The sparks fly between them making them a fun couple to read. And bonus, there is a secondary romance that is equally entertaining. This one didn't quiet have that epic feel or that tone of saying goodbye that final books in a series can have until the very last moment in the epilogue. I was actually okay that it was just business as normal-passionate lovers and saving the world stuff.

This story is part of a series and builds on the book before it so this one would not make a good standalone or story out of order. Surrounded by a familiar group of supporting cast including another unexpected pair of fiery lovers, the series that has gone on for several years winds down to the end. Fortunately, the author is preparing a spin-off series told in the Guardians of Eternity world.

The story opens with Cyn and Fallon waking up in the caves below his hidden lair in Ireland. Both regard each other suspiciously assuming the other one was responsible for kidnapping them out of the other dimension. They soon learn that someone else is responsible. They are given a mission by the ruling council of demons to find out who is seeking to control the council's power by using a compulsion spell. They reluctantly partner up as they dance around the attraction that pulls these opposites toward each other.

Cyn is a rough, alpha berserker turned centuries-old vampire who answers only to the King of all Vampires while Fallon is a refined, protected and naive pure fey princess. They must combine his knowledge of ancient history and vampire strength with her fey magic scrying and power skills to defeat a cunning enemy who has been setting up his coup for a long time. In the process, they go from hostile to hot sexy times to concern that they don't stand a chance of being together.

Alongside Cyn and Fallon's work, Fallon's promised fiance' has come to find her and has presumed on Styx to assist his efforts since it is thought that Cyn had something to do with her disappearance. Styx pushes off the arrogant fey prince onto Tonya the Imp. Tonya gives stuffy Magnus a run for his money as they work from the other end to defeat the new threat in the world.

As I mentioned, this one didn't feel like the last book in a series. I expected it too so experienced a little let-down until I adjusted and just went along for a favorite series adventure. Like others in the series, these are more action-oriented than character-driven. The romance also follows a familiar path with that tension caused between an alpha male and an independent female with some sort of forbidden aspect that in this case is caused by their species. It's like a cozy feel of familiarity as a result and not a complaint. Truthfully, the last few books as exciting as they have been, have been a sort of long denouement tying up the plot threads from throughout this series. I liked how the author did that, bringing things down slowly, but still offering exciting adventures and romances along the way.

Cyn and Fallon were a likeable enough pair, but I confess to only moderate feelings toward them and their romance. I was more into the action part of the plot not that there was anything wrong with the romance. It doesn't hurt that there are several familiar characters in the back-up roles that are more of interest to me: Styx the King, Levet the Gargoyle, fellow vampire Viper and Dante, Tonya the Imp, and a new player in Magnus the fey prince. Speaking of Magnus, he and Tonya get up another sassy romance and have their own storyline separate from Cyn and Fallon. These two cracked me up the way he came down all lord of the manor on her and she just told him off and did as she pleased.

All in all, I enjoyed the story and I was into it though it didn't wow me in the tradition of series enders. The series has been a strong favorite and I wholeheartedly recommend it to paranormal romance lovers who like some grit, some spice, lots of action and a world full of nearly every paranormal race imaginable.

My thanks to Kensington and Net Galley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Begin as you mean to go on, or begin at the beginning, two quotes that I have always stood firmly behind. And yet here I am reviewing my very first Guardians of Eternity book.. And folks, it's not book 1, it's book 13! Seriously what planet have I been living on?

Alexandra Ivy totally and completely captured my heart with this book. And yes I did go back and get the entire series so I could catch up... This series is the PNR world at it's best. Sure it is originally about vampires and yes they are real bloodsucking vampires. They were sired and all that but Ms. Ivy did offer a bit of a twist (whew.. I would hate to have to admit to just loving a true vampire series. *grins*).

Now on to the book..

Battles have been fought, enemies have been destroyed but the world is still in peril, seems there is always one more villain to do away with and this time? No one sees it coming.

Fallon is the last unmarried daughter of the king of the Fae.. oh not the fae that interacts with the world, nope the oh so pompous fae that have removed themselves from those who are "beneath" them, basically everyone. Fallon is destined to marry her handsome prince and live boringly ever after. Just another female in his harem, a wife to be sure but when all is said and done, just another female. Fallon dreams of more and has worked hard on her scrying. Although it has been done in secret she has a remarkable talent and could possibly be one of the best ever. When she suddenly finds herself alone with an oh so handsome vampire, in a cave she doesn't recognize, Fallon is to say the least confused.. but what the heck, did I mention oh so handsome? But seriously, she has been recruited to work with Cyn to discover what is happening to the council...

Cyn, the vampire clan chief of Ireland likes the good life. Likes his comforts, all of them. He is the king of sensuality in all things and his hedonistic life is legendary. BUT he also believes in loyalty and in helping the weak grow strong. Having been adopted by a fae couple when he was first sired, he also respects other races. So when he was on a mission to help a friend with his lady, Cyn is also kidnapped he might have been understanding.. nah, he is a vampire.. you don't force them to do anything.. You ask, nicely.. But Cyn isn't that upset to be tucked together with the oh so luscious Fallon.. Things are about to get interesting.

The world is at risk and lives are going to change but Cyn and Fallon have found more than just a cause, they have found each other and the discovery that together they are something magical is a beautiful possibility.

Alexandra Ivy writes pure magic. These two didn't actually clash, there wasn't sound and fury, just two people forced to work together, two people that discover that real love exists and maybe just maybe they can have it. And that's when the fireworks start.

The fight against evil on the other hand is gently woven in.. it's an insidious enemy and Ms. Ivy slowly unveils just what is happening. Slowly, slithering it's secrets into the story. (Yeah I know I just love alteration way too much) In this book, the relationship is front and center and the enemy is kept on the back burner.. until the music rises, the story peaks and the crescendo crashes in!

Just a wonderful book!!

He held the bags out of reach, his jade gaze skimming over her slender body. “What do I get in return?”
“What do you mean?”
“Quid pro quo.” He stepped closer, his expression mocking. “I have food and nectar and clothes. What do you have for me?”

As of this reading, GR has When Darkness Ends rated at 4.29 stars with 1532 ratings. I’m 21% in, thinking WTF? I guess time (and finishing) will tell.

When Darkness Ends (Guardians of Eternity #12) by Alexandra Ivy Cyn, chief of the Ireland vampire clan and Fallon, a Chatri Fairy princess, are recruited by an Oracle to investigate suspected foal play.

When Darkness Ends is a fast-paced novel that kept me on the edge of my seat.

I enjoy Cyn’s character. He is extremely knowledgeable. He is a fierce warrior who defends those in need. I love how protective he is of Fallon.

I like Fallon. She is tired of being used as political leverage. She is resilient and honorable. She fights for what she believes is right.

I love that gargoyle, Levet, is once again part of the story. The little guy cracks me up. I find the annoyed reaction of all the vampires to him amusing.

The plot was mysterious and fascinating. It had a lot going on that keeps you enthralled.

I really adore the Guardians of Eternity series. The characters are all well-developed and interesting.

A very satisfying conclusion to a terrific series involving vampires, werewolves and the Fae. I liked see womanizer (hedonist) Cyn falling in love with a woman who totally annoys the crap out of him. Fae Princess Fallon turned out to be the perfect mate for this irascible hero. And as usual, the addition of Levet, the minuscule pain in the butt added just enough levity to make his annoyance tolerable.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through Net Galley for an honest review.

I find my self looking back through my ratings of this series and see that Ms. Ivy has consistently gotten three stars from me. I kinda feel guilty over that…. I really enjoyed this world and its characters, but just never seem to get excited about the series like I do others, even her own Sentinels series. I guess sometimes you just enjoy a series, but not as much as others. I’m afraid that this book is going to get the same rating from me as the others. Still I enjoyed it and am glad I saw this world through to the end and am satisfied on how things finish up.

This was Cyn and Fallon’s book and I thought they were a cute pairing. I loved how playboy Cyn fell for this tiny little Fey and how protective he became. Of course all of this was quite sudden, but in a paranormal world that is to be expected sometimes. When they find their mates they don’t fight fate, just their instinct to become an overbearing control freak and lock their love up in a padded room for safe keeping. I appreciated how hard Cyn worked to give Fallon the respect and freedom that had been denied to her all her life. Fallon started off a little stuck up, but soon that ice melted and she warmed up to me. I loved the scene between her and Cyn’s lieutenant Lise, such fun.

There is usually a secondary romance in Ms. Ivy’s books, a setting up the love interests of the next book, but being this is the last in the series we actually had two couples to follow. Fallon’s fiance, Magnus gets paired up with a character that has been floating around in this world looking for a match. I think I enjoyed their match as much as the main couple’s. I did feel a little cheated at the end when we are told about their pairing up rather than getting to watch the drama go down in person.

The action and one-liners were just as entertaining as in other books, I did appreciate how Ms. Ivy restrained herself from trotting out all the old favorites for one last good-bye. There were plenty of old friends that got in on the crisis, but the story wasn’t bogged down by players that were not relevant. That could be because this might not really be the end of the series. Ms. Ivy has answered questions about this series and stated that there will still be stories set in this world, but fewer and with some new characters. Even if this is the end though, I thought it a very satisfying one and while it would be nice to check in with them all from time to time, I’m more than happy to give them all a much earned peaceful H.E.A. They’ve earned the break and time to snuggle in bed with their mates.

Just a few disappointments for me. I thought the end, after the final battle, was a little abrupt and tied up a bit to easy. I wish there had been something more. Kind of how I felt about Magnus and his love interest. I also wanted something more for Levet, but after reading Ms.Ivy’s explanation about that character on her website, I get her reasoning.

It has been a fun series and I’m glad I read it. Thank you Ms. Ivy for sharing it with us and I look forward to seeing what new worlds you have for us to play in.

To say that the hero and heroine didn't get along would be an understatement. In fact, the frustrating hero is the only being who is able to push the normally peaceful and calm heroine to the point of violence. Every time he opens his mouth she wants to smack him. She finds him to be insufferable- a man whore who has slept his way through a vast number of the female popular. And she's vowed not to be one of the many-even though he is super sexy and she gets butterflies every time he's near.

The hero is turn feels quite the same way towards the heroine. He thinks she is stuck up, a prude and far too beautiful for her own good. But he realizes quite early on that his edgy unsettlement around her is due to his own suppressed desires. Now they suddenly find themselves tossed together by the Oracles who need their help to stop a Druid from using a spell to close the gateways of the world and therefore kill all of the demon and Fae kind.

The heroine has always been the dutiful princess who listens to her father and does what's required of her for the good of the people-even if it means marrying a man she does not love-or even like. But being swept from the seclusion of her world has sparked something within her. It's started a fight-a desire to be who she wants to be and do what she wants to do, even if it means being exiled from her people. With the hero she feels powerful and needed, not just as a possession but as a woman. And suddenly the man whom frightened her most of all-the man who could possess her heart and own her like no other man ever could- is the man whom she will risk everything to love.

This book is an example of paranormal romance-and romance in general, of the present market. It's okay. There's nothing truly 'wrong' with it per say and in fact, I would qualify it as decent. But...there's no soul. It's lacking true heart in a way that resonates after reading some truly amazing books by some of the greatest authors. Kresley Cole, Gena Showalter, Nalini Singh. These women put poetry and passion into their novels and as a result it resonates with me for years to come. This book, though okay and decent enough, is not something I will remember a few months down the road. I found the love affair to be rushed. The characters went from disliking each other to the hero claiming her as his mate seemingly overnight. There wasn't much of a plotline or any story that I felt was interesting or exciting. Just...meh. The reason I rated it a 2- besides for the fact that I did like some parts of the story- was the memory of the horrible book previously in the series. The toned-down scenes with that annoying freaking Gargoyle was a blessing and as such, it pushed the rating higher in my opinion. Overall it was an okay read. I don't recommend you buy this book but if you should find in at a thrift store or it's given to you from a friendship it won't be a complete waste of time.

"When Darkness Ends" is the final installment of the Guardians of Eternity series and what a way to end it.

The story starts out with Cyn and Fallon awakening together in Cyn's lair but neither of them knows why they are together. Cyn is a hedonist vampire and seems to be more brawn than brains. Fallon is a Chatri princess (higher than a fairy and royalty) and thinks Cyn isn't such a good guy. He's a pain to her. She's a pain to him.

Siljar, the head of the Commission, comes to them and says she wants them to work together in finding whoever has started the Spell of Complusion, which she believes is influencing the Commission to do their bidding and stop the spell.

They reluctantly agree because nobody tells Siljar no. As they begin to work on this, they discover each other for who they really are. Cyn discovers and resents Fallon's father because he is forcing her into an arranged married with Prince Magnus, a man she does not love and keeps a harem. He finds it despicable that the only reason for the union is to strengthen the houses of royalty. Prince Magnus has no real interest in her, either. Cyn understands, he doesn't like it.

But he puts away his hedonist ways and concentrates on her and the work they have to do.

Meanwhile, Prince Magnus is hanging out in Styx's lair (hellooooo, Styx, my favorite vampire of the series). Styx is the King of the Vampires and thinks Prince Magnus is royal all right... a royal pain in the--well, you get it. He has all sorts of comical names for him. Prince Prissy is just one that comes to mind. Styx was pretty gutsy because even though he's the Annaso, Prince Magnus has the power to turn him to dust but Styx pushes him around and makes him help with certain things.

But Prince Magnus has his eye on Tonya, Viper's favorite club manager. Styx has brought her to his lair to act as a liaison between him and Prince Magnus. He's not used to her mouthy ways or having any woman tell him off or not do what he says. He finds her shocking and nasty while she finds him physically beautiful but a jerk.

There are three stories going on here. There's a love story between Cyn and Fallon; another love story brewing between Prince Magnus and Tonya; and,the story on how to stop the spell which brings them all together for one cause.

It was fantastic to see Styx, Viper, and Dante (I loved Dante first. See Book 1) together again and working to end this spell with the others.

There's a lot of action in the story, intrigue, romance and a great ending. I loved the epilogue.

Oh, and if you're looking for a Levet fix. Here you go. He's in it, too.

As a general rule, I do not like series because it takes so long for the books to come out and I get impatient and blah blah blah. This is one series I will read again. Now that I have all the books, I can see myself taking a couple of weeks to read it from the beginning to the end.

It was so good.

When Darkness Ends (Guardians of Eternity #12)by Alexandra Ivy

Cyn, the vampire clan chief of Ireland, is an unabashed hedonist whose beauty is surpassed only by his insatiable appetite for pleasure. It’s no wonder he’s furious when he’s transported from the magical land of the pureblooded feys to his desolate private lair—only to have his very existence thrown into a chaos that even he cannot charm his way out of…
Most women may be all but powerless against Cyn, but Fallon, a sharp-witted fairy princess, is less than beguiled by the silver-tongued vampire. She’s a serious soul with no time for the sort of games he plays—especially when they learn that someone is trying to close the veil that separates the dimensions. But seduction may prove the most powerful force of all, as attraction ignites between the unlikely pair even as worlds are colliding around them…

My Review:

I am so flipping devastated!!! Why???
Okay enough theatrics. Still, I can't believe its over. GOE has had a fantastic run and its nice to see an author that knows when its time to move on to something new. I will miss the GOE family, Alexandra has done a beautiful job maintaining the heart of this series from beginning to end. She closed the chapter on it when it was time and I will continue loving this series and re-reading it for many years to come. When Darkness Ends gives a graceful bow to its previous characters in the series however briefly allowing readers to say their goodbyes before Ivy ties up a couple loose ends for the final call. I still enjoy Fallon and Cyn as a couple because they both accept one another for who they are not what they are and as a couple are stronger together as both individuals and partners. Neither of them force the other to be someone they're not and neither of them seek out the advantages such a power couple could do for them. Its a relationship that you can respect and embrace as they realize they simply love eachother for the person they are and not their status. I honestly didn't want this series to end because Ivy has done an amazing job with her books, never straying far from home and the roots of what made this series great. Bravo Ivy.

REVIEW
I have read other books by Author Alexandra Ivy and I love her writing style. I will start by saying I have not read any of the previous stories in this series. With that being said it took nothing away I was able to read this fantastic paranormal book just as I would a stand alone. But now I must start again with book 1 and read them all.

I love when a paranormal author brings many character types to a story and Alexandra Ivy does it so well. We get a berserker turned vamp, Fae , Gargoyles loved Levet. We also have oracles, weres and Vampires which is what our alpha male Cyn is.

Fallon the fae princess and Cyn are kidnapped in order to help the Oracle find information needed. Well all hell breaks loose as Fallon’s father the king of Fae is off in search of her.

Fallon is also to wed a prince who has equal wealth but after being with Cyn will that happen?
Can the Fae Princess and The King of the Ireland Vampires Clan have a happily ever after?

Tons of twists and turns, action, suspense and sizzling hot passion. Just how I like my books. The story flows nicely and I did not want to put this book down until I finished it.

I was gifted this book via the publisher for my honest review.

REVIEW:
Another great book in Alexandra Ivy’s Guardians of Eternity Series. I’m obsessed with this series! I love the world Alexandra Ivy has created and the characters. Most series seem to fizzle out over time but the Guardians of Eternity series keeps getting better. "When Darkness Ends" is the 12th book in this series and can be read as a standalone but I recommend starting at the beginning. It’s a great paranormal series. "When Darkness Ends" is full of action, danger, and passionate romance. Cyn, a Berserker Vampire, and Fallon, a fairy princess, are perfect for each other. I loved their interactions. Their story hooked me from the beginning and took me on an enjoyable journey. If you haven’t read this series I highly recommend it for paranormal romance lovers and if you have read it you’ll love this new addition to this incredible series.

Obviousely at the moment I am stuck with PRs which are good but left me hanging in the end ... which ends with me giving them only 3 or 3,5 stars although they feel sometimes inbetween to be more than that.

This story, the final one in this series, is about Cyn, Clan chief of Ireland ... and let me tell you something: he is a real Alpha! Yummy till the end and nevertheless capable of seeing the strength in his mate.
Fallon was also a well written characters and although she is not a kick-ass heroine in the classical sense, there is a lot of strenght within her.

we see a lot of characters from the other books, which is interesting even if you did not read all the books in the series (like me) ... and I love Levet. the Gargoyle is just great :)

the plot was well developed and it took no backseat to the romance which is always a plus

what had me really disappointed with this book was the end: I was looking forward to see more of Cyn and Fallon and especially to see their mating cerimony ... but nada!
the epilogue where we see a bit of the others made up for it but not completly.

so all in all only 3,5 stars for this one with a heavy direction to the 4 stars.

The supernatural world is yet again in danger as Ivy wraps up he series with a two for one romance - Vampire Cyn and Fey Princess Fallon with another pair thrown in as well. I have been following the Guardians of Eternity forever, but this wasn't quite the wrap up the series needed - it went more of a fizzle than a bang and up until things really started coming to a head in the aground plot I was so underwhelmed that I prodded unenthusiasticly through most of the story, because both romances were very thin enemies to instalove and mates - with both males being all possesive, protective and growly. Of the two heroines, I found Fallon the least interesting, and actually foundational the secondary pairing probably should have gotten more space because it had the more interesting conflict - snooty prince from a male in charge society matched with a feisty woman from a race he feels is below him.

As a wrap up it would have been nice if there would have been a few more cameos woven in - non of the former female leads make it on screen and only the leading men from the first four books and Lever appear.
