There is nothing barbershop owner, Kadaris Kathan, wouldn’t do for his former foster mother turned babysitter, Mama Peaches. Even if that means participating in the upcoming Southlake Park bachelor auction to raise money for the neighborhood. However, Mama Peaches has one request…Kadaris must work with etiquette coach, Khloe Madison, to polish his thuggish exterior before the auction. Despite their chemistry, he hasn’t gotten along with Khloe in years and he’s ready to send her packing. Imagine his surprise when Khloe makes him an offer he can’t refuse. Khloe Madison has never passed up on a challenge and rough-around-the-edges Kadaris is her biggest challenge yet. He’s stubborn, arrogant, and unfortunately, too sexy for his own good. In order to get through this, she has a proposition for him. All she needs is ten days to turn Kadaris into the ideal bachelor and if he isn’t singing her praises after that, she’ll be at his beck and call the week after the auction. However, if this princess of the neighborhood wins, he’ll regret the day he ever called her prim and proper.

I remember Khadaris and Khloe from Naima and Jeremy's story and felt that there was a story behind the constant bickering between these two. Leave it to Mama Peaches and her partner in crime Miss Geraldine to set Khloe and Khadaris up in this latest Gents episode. Barber extraordinaire Khadaris Knathan and Khloe Madison embark on getting their love connection on track. Well Mama Peaches and Miss Geraldine devise a plan to get their love on track. One thing I have noticed in all of these Gents' stories is how attentive both Mama Peaches and Miss Geraldine seem to have always been to the young people under their care both male and female. Having Miss etiquette Khloe pair up to help the handsome yet introverted Khadaris proved to be yet another genius idea to fix the heart issues of one of the Gents and Miss Geraldine 's granddaughter. I do love these Gent stories, all of you ladies have penned some excellent stories. Thank you all for doing such fine jobs!!!!!!
I love Kadaris and Khloe’s journey back to love. Their childhood traumas had them behave in such a way that destroyed their friendship but, it was the lack of communicating to clear the air that made them enemies.
When Momma Peaches asked him to be a part of the auction to help save the neighborhood, it’s no way he could tell her no. The dynamic duel (G’Ma & Deen) created the perfect opportunity for them to work together, with Khloe coaching Kadaris in overcoming his fear of being in spotlight full of strangers. As they work together to prepare for the auction, they are able hash out what drove a wedge between them and ignite the flames of the heart.
In this one the author demonstrates the importance of communicating, not letting the heart become hard and the love of community. Nice additions were the cameos of Meeka and Tone from AF and surprising this auction scene actually happening and the Block Party Auction😂

Great story line that consist of 14 different writers about distinguished gentlemen in a auction.
Khloe Madison, is a etiquette coach and Kadaris Kathan is barber who owns 3 barber shops in a make believe city in Chicago call Southlake Park. Khloe and Kadaris attended high school together and were both running for high school president and things were said and done and each went their separate ways. Khloe's grandmother and Mama Peaches are holding a bachelor auction and she enlist Khloe's help in getting Kadaris ready for the auction. Kadaris is somewhat shy and keeps to himself. While Kadaris and Khloe are getting into proper etiquette things are getting a little and both are finding out things about each other that neither knew. Looking for something to read short, fast and humorous this is the book. Next on to another book in the Distinguished Gentlemen series.
Mama Peaches asks Kadaris to be a bachelor in the Southlake Park bachelor auction. Even though he has an issue with being comfortable in a public setting but because of what Mama Peaches did for him in the past, he cannot turn her down. He almost changes his mind once he finds out that Mama Peaches also wants him to work with etiquette coach, Khloe Madison, to help him get ready for the auction. Kadaris and Khloe do not get along even though they were friends when they were children. While working together, their underlying attraction blossoms into passion and then love once they begin to understand each other and their pasts. I really enjoyed this enemies to lovers story. It has passion and love as well as humor. Mama Peaches and Geraldine were something else. Another great book by Ms. Green.
Madrid & Khole had a long history from childhood. In high school after he won Jr. Class President Whole got mad and said he cheated on his Term Paper. He had to step down and she won by default. That was the beginning of their troubles. (love/hate relationship). Fast forward to present day. Chile's Grandmother Serial seen & Moms Peaches are at it again. Having to work together to get Madrid ready for the Southlake Community Bachelor's Auction. As they spent time together they got to know each other better and understood why he didn't like the "Princess". Only to discover they had loved each other every since high school!!!! They just needed to reconnect. Awesome story🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟!!!!
They went from friends to enemies to lovers, and THE CONTINGENCY BID cleverly highlights their journey. Bachelor Kadaris Kathan, is recruited as a last minute choice by Mama Peaches, “the mother of the neighborhood “, to participate in the Southlake Park Bachelor Auction fundraiser. THE CONTINGENCY BID is another great addition to The Distinguished Gentlemen Series. The storyline is creative and well-developed. THE RENEGADE BID is the next book. It features Kadaris’ brother, Ace Kathan, and it is written by newcomer, Kelsey Green, Sherelle’s sister. So stay tuned. In the meantime, I recommend THE CONTINGENCY BID. It’s a great read!
Let me say This story like others in this series was really nice. Khloe had Twelve days to transform Kadaris a “Thug type” owner of several Barber Shops into a runway ready gentlemen type. That was the challenge. These two had A love hate relationship but Mama Peaches insisted they worked together to achieve a goal. Let me say that I’m not a prude by any means and I have a pretty extensive profane vocabulary myself, however I felt the level of profanity was a bit over the top which took away from my enjoyment of the story. Nevertheless it was a cute story where everyone wins
Sexy, dimple faced, baseball cap-wearing barbershop owner Kadaris would do anything for his former foster mother, Mama Peaches, except work with etiquette coach Khloe whom he can't stand. Mama Peaches and Khloe's grandma Geraldine offer Khloe her biggest challenge yet--polish Kadaris's thuggish exterior to ready him for the Southlake Park Bachelor Auction. Khloe thinks Kadaris is too sexy for his own good so she propositions him - if he wins she'll be at his beck and call for a week, of course she has a plan to win.
“The Contingency Bid: Distinguished Gentlemen Series” another great read of the available books in my kindle unlimited library. .hmmm🤨. I wonder why? Nonetheless, I’m so glad I reread this book after falling asleep mid-read 🤷🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤣😂. Clearly, Kadaris & Khloe’s frenemies journey now makes much more sense. …Lesson: “never judge a book by its cover”. These two wasted precious years, when their shame/trauma was paralleled childhood sadness…kute kouple! (sorry I just kouldn’t resist🥰)‼️
Sweet and easy read. It's true there's a thin line between love and hate and contention sometimes masks passion. Kadarisand Khloe started off as friends and harsh words ended the friendship in high school and fueled the contentious relationship between the two. But when situations call for them to work together they find they have a whole lot more than just hobbies in common.
I always enjoy Ms Green’s writing style and it’s joy to see some of the other characters from other books make an appearance and Meeka did not disappoint. This book has a great vibe and you will definitely blush at the love shown by both characters I enjoyed seeing their love develop and blossom. I can’t wait to see the next gentleman go down 😉 and find his forever love!
Kadaris and Khloe were friends until a misunderstanding caused them to avoid each other. They both had misperceptions of the other. They were more alike then they realized. Communication helped them get past the issue. Of course having Meeka and Mama Peaches to help lead them to their recognizing how they really felt about each other. This story had me laugh out loud at times.
Kadaris is all about his business, his community and keeping to himself. No traveling, not a lot of dating, just his routine. He’s shy, or is it more to it? The princess was proper, put together and well known in their community. She taught etiquette. What happens when these two who have old history and can’t stand each other work together for the greater good? A week of servitude and bliss in timberlands
OMG, I love Khloe & Kadaris!!! 💞 I loved their chemistry and that current of sexual tension they had been circling around for years. Revealing their life issues definitely made me understand both characters better and for each were very realistic issues. Miss Geraldine is a bit mess and I Love Her!!! 😂 Another great story from Ms. Green!
This book was cute. Kadaris was definitely a keeper. I loved that he showed his vulnerability about public speaking. Khloe was harder for me to connect with, but I’m happy they got together.
There were a few editing issues. Also this author uses “mines” a lot, and it’s incorrect so I cannot figure out why this isn’t caught in the editing process.
Communication is key to all relationships. Kadaris and Khloe already had strong feelings for each other. But their lack of talking about the rift in their friendship, caused them to lose precious time together. So glad they both opened up, and let their love bloom. Especially with all the trials they both went through in life. Great story.
This was a good story. I loved Kadaris! He was rough around the edges but such a sweet soul. Khloe turned out to be sweeter than advertised. They both endured tragedy and came out on top. There were a ton of errors in this book though. I don’t remember that being the case in previous books by this author.
Just an amazing read from beginning to end... Kadaris and Khloe was a match made in heaven they just fit together so well they were so well connected even if they didn’t like each because their past duplicated each other’s to a certain degree in which they could formulate an even stronger bond... Absolutely perfect love story and definitely five star worthy
A fun, sexy, slightly irreverent read with an adorable hero.
There are so many reasons I enjoyed THE CONTINGENCY BID. For one, Sherelle gives us a real sense of the neighborhood of Southlake Park and the hero’s and heroine‘s friends and family. But I truly adored the hero, Kadaris Kathan. He was shy and a little awkward. And he had other issues which only made him more endearing.
Thus book was light and funny! I love that I knew other characters from prior stories. Khloe and Kadaris have been at odds since high school but getting him ready for this auction was just the right thing to break the ice. I believe the sweet meddling “grandmas” knew exactly what they were doing pairing these 2 together. Great read!
A few typos and missed character title names for the main character shouldn't keep you from the sweet hometown relationship story of Kadaris and Khloe. After being setup to deal with their crap by Mamma Peaches and Geraldine, you come to see that the past should always be addressed so that it doesn't hold your future captive.
Every girl loves a bad boy just little rough around the edges, even the prim and propper ones. Meet bad boy Kadaris Kashan and prim and proper princess Khloe Madison. Khloe and Kadaris were once friends but now they practically hated each other. Or did they This story was funny and sweet ad two former friends found their friendship again as well as passion and love.
Loved it! This book was so good! I laughed a lot while reading this book. The author didn’t disappoint at all. Khloe and Kadaris was made for each other, and it showed. Everybody knew they belonged together. They just needed to know for themselves and it didn’t take long at all! Great read! Can’t wait to read the rest of the books in the series!!
This love/hate relationship was the end of a friendship but was the beginning of a beautiful working partnership. Kadaris really could not have broken out of his shell it wasn't for Khloe. So happy these two finally worked out the hate part of this relationship, because the love gave each other was worth the wait.
In my younger day back on April 3, 1996, The Persuaders had a song entitled "It's A Thin Line Between Love and Hate." The Contingency Bid in this series was just that. This series has been a roller-coaster of reads mistakes in names, typos have taken away from the series . This is my seventh read in the Distinguished Gentlemen Series.
I loved this book. Khloe and Kadaris were true in their dislike of each other since high school. Their reconnection was brilliantly done, and at a pace that was smooth and easy.
They were also realistic in their speech and conversations, and that made me feel like I knew them, and that is some good writing to have that happen.
This was a love story about Julie Madison and Kadaris Kathan. They began their story years ago as classmates and friends. Recently he was entered as a bachelor in a charity auction with Julie as his coach. During preparations they fell madly towards happily ever after.
Green added a new gooood read to her ever growing list of books one must buy. I enjoyed my visit to Southlake Park! It was great seeing some of her past characters while being introduced to some new ones! Fingers crossed 🤞🏾those new peeps have a story on thee way!
I liked it. I love the enemies to lovers storyline. I liked how both characters had a real reason to hate each other and they got over it. Meeka cracks me up and I was glad to see her pop up in this storyline. Such a cute story with a cute ending.
