With his arrogant, devil-may-care attitude, professional bull rider, Kael Carmody, was for women what honey was to bees--a sweet necessity. But he was after only one woman, the one he hurt years ago. Kael wanted to win Daisy back, but he had to melt her defenses, like honeycombs in the sun.
With Kael Carmody back in town, Daisy Hightower was having a hard time continuing her life, as usual, tending her bee farm and raising her seven-year-old son. That rugged rodeo cowboy who once broke her heart was a man she couldn't ignore. And her son saw Kael as an instant daddy--one he never knew he had.
But can Daisy let go of the past and make room for love with a footloose cowboy?
Kael is the sixth book in Lori Wilde's heartwarming Texas Rascals series.
Laurie Blalock was born on 1958 in Texas, USA. She started writing at age eight. She credits her father, Fred Blalock, as the guiding force behind her career. She can't remember a time when she didn't want to write. She even went to nursing school so she could have a schedule flexible enough to allow her to write on the side. She nursed for 20 years, working in a variety of settings from the newborn nursery to the recovery room, to dialysis. But she never lost her desire to write. She sold her first book in 1994 as Laura Anthony, but later discovered she had a flair for comedy and branched out under the pseudonym Lori Wilde. She has achieved a lifelong dream and now pursues writing fiction full-time.
First married with Anthony Moeller, now she is married with Bill Vanzura, her own real-life hero. She continued living in her native Texas, with a red heeler/Australian shepherd dog, Cinnamon, and four ducks, Quacker, Big Guy, Affleck, and Sheepidy. She is an adventuresome, she traveled Europe as a teenager, hiked volcanoes in Hawaii, trod on glaciers in Alaska, shot white-water rapids, water-skied, snow-skied, raced all-terrain vehicles, bodysurfed in the Gulf of Mexico, and photographed grizzly bears in Yellowstone. She's taken flying lessons, rode in a hot-air balloon, completed two marathons, and performed with a professional jazz band.
I have mixed feelings for this book ... While I applaud the second chance and the way this H worked through his relationship to make up to h for his poor behavior, it has one of my pet peeves; H cheats with h's twin sister and has a kid with her ... he doesn't know and the h brings the boy up ... h's sister seduces him while he is drunk; he couldn't tell the difference (cringing here) between the love of his life and her skanky sister so .... Full points to author for having a h who stuck to her hurt feelings and carried it till the end (no treacherous body syndrome for this h) but she has h remain a virgin ... which I didn't like ... if she had to remain lumped with H and his not so secret baby, she deserved to experiment at least once! This h delivers a few smackdowns to the H and she is definitely not a doormat but .... So its a well written and entertaining book but some things are too icky for me ...

3 stars because I liked the heroine - she was strong, honest and didn’t cave in easily. But why the trope of her remaining a virgin? I would have liked to see her in a relationship or dating someone, or even just taking ownership of her life in some way, not just reacting and taking care of others because of circumstances. The hero lived a life for 7 years, doing what he wanted, just wished she would have had a life of her choosing too. Too often - women end up prioritizing others ahead of ourselves - and it’s not a healthy way to live.
I didn’t like the bit about the hero sleeping with her twin sister and the subsequent child - I just felt he didn’t fight for the heroine as much as he claimed he wanted her, and she was right to feel that he didn’t love her.
Daisy and Karl share a troubled past. While Karl ran off to pursue his dreams, Daisy stayed home and took care of her aunt and sister, then her nephew, along with the family honey business. Now Karl is back in town for some downtime while a knee injury heals. Sparks still fly between the two, but can Daisy forgive past mistakes and risk getting her heart broken again?
Lori Wilde has quickly become one of my all time favorite authors. The men and women in her Rascal, Texas series are so life like I feel as if they are my neighbors. I love how sassy the females are and how sexy the men. And of course how it all turns out in the end.!! 5 stars Ms. Wilde, 5 stars!!!!
He's an injured bull rider who may never ride again, so he comes home to heal. He left her behind seven years ago and she wants nothing to do with him. Her adopted son may very well be his biological son. There is a lot of angst, some romance, and teeny, tiny bit of sex. Highly recommend.
I have read the first 6 in this series. I enjoy Lori's books. Kael was young and wanted to be a Professional Bull Rider which he was until the bull got the best of him. Coming back to Rascal he dreamed of getting back with Daisy. She was busy raising her sister's son Travis. Would she forgive him?
Kael is a broken man. He came home to find himself after his accident. He went to find his old girlfriend but she just couldn’t trust him anymore. It was nice the way they came back together.
Five stars don't stop with the sixth book in the series. Each has its own story with unique and lovable characters. There's drama, suspense, romance and a story set around the small Texas town of Rascals that calls my name.
I prefer the stories like this one in this series, stories about the past coming to haunt and mistakes made, etc. I don't enjoy the ones that are about undercover operations and hunting criminals and such. They don't ring true for me.
Enjoyed the main story but got tired of the recriminations from the main characters. I kept thinking they needed to get over themselves. Happy ending though.
A short and sweet romance about the resiliency of true love. When her troubled identical twin sister tricked her boyfriend Kael into a compromising position she ended the relationship. He took off to pursue the rodeo.
Flash ahead 7 years and now her sister's death from an overdose has her adopting her nephew and raising him as a single parent. Kaels home after a career ending knee injury, ready to resume the relationship.
Can the two of them resume a relationship, learning to trust again? Another good addition to the series that can be read as a standalone book.
