Not a made-up obstacle course of ropes and tin cans.
Bred and trained to be a warrior–up to now–boredom and hard work have been his fiercest enemies.
The winter’s hay safely in the barn, he finally gets a few days of leisure with his best friends. They discover one of his father’s cows butchered and only the best cuts taken. Tracking the culprits, leads them to Mamma.
Mamma hungers for revenge–a vengeance so close she can almost taste its icy cold sweetness. And now that she has the perfect bait, the men will finally pay.
Gus and his friends know fists and guns, but Mamma knows secrets. Secrets they’d rather not hear and an enemy they’d never imagined.
Time is short. They must act.
If they fail, their loved ones will die…,
and they won’t be alive to mourn them.
Come for the budding romance—stay for the classic western battle between good and evil.
Great story! Well plotted and executed! I have enjoyed reading and reviewing your books Wyatt. You have a wonderful way of putting words together to make the reader believe that they are standing with the characters in their journey, I cannot wait to read how Gus's trip to Texas goes!! Please let him and Judith remain in love. Although that will be for another book altogether. Keep writing so I can keep reading!!!!
It is a great story of fathers and mothers lifting teens grow and experience their own life adventures. I spent half the book thinking they should have gone for help but by the end they had proofed themselves.
I have read the six books in the series to date and have thoroughly enjoyed each. The series was especially interesting because it went from the life of young Thorn to his son Gus of approximately the same age. Hopefully, the next book of his son will be as exciting as the rest have been.
The author has done a great job building the characters and their adventures. I love stories of the old West and the struggles of the people. My grandparents lived in this era. Well worth the time to read.
Kept your attention from the very beginning. Lots of action, lots of characters and I couldn't hardly put the books down. Can't wait to read some more.
Well I enjoyed all 5 some more than others. But like Father, like son. Both wanted to see over next hill. But Gus will be back for Judith. Hope to read some more of your books. They are fantastic. JD
Very good about the area in the story’s although some of the story lines were a little transparent I enjoyed reading them very much. Having grown up in Northern Wyoming I do understand all of the stories.
This is totally different than what I've read before. It action packed and with quite a few twists and mixed in. I enjoyed the plotline as I couldn't imagine how it would end.
I’m so pleased to have found Wyatt Cochran. Excellent story teller and author. I will continue reading this author and encourage anyone who enjoys reading westerns to give him a read.
Mr Cochrane, this entire series has keep me up at night. Really I only read this in bed but sometimes I forget what time it is and regret it in the morning. Keep up the good work!
Westerns were something of my youth, since then my interests have varied greatly, but I do believe your writings have turned me back from wandering to westerners. Keep writing g, I am loving it
