Don't read the next installment

The first two installments were good reads and that is why I bought the third book. I think the author ran out of storyline, so he turned this book into hardcore smut just to fill the pages. There was also so much back and forth romantic innuendo between Jake and Jo that I just shook my head and skipped over it in this book. I don't care how this story ends, because I am not buying the next book to find out.

Just when you think its safe to go back home and resume your life...that really should have been the motto to live by here. Once again, the Hangman is two steps ahead of everyone else. More interaction between Jo and her father (the senator) and a fat dose of her brother Kyle. Still love the chemistry between Jo and Jake, but Jake is being an idiot in this book so I was a little frustrated with him. All the players are lining up for the next episode and it is going to be big. I'm loving this series, each book draws you in and adds more to the fire. I recommend starting with book 1.

I was really surprised when I saw this book was co written by two authors, and I thought I'd find it really easy to see the two different styles, but credit to these authors they were very similar and kept the flow of the book!

Without thinking too much while you were reading these books and just going with the flow, they were good. They had all the makings of a good crime thriller, with a really clever plot line to back it all up. The idea of corruption and injustice was really interesting and the way that played into the murders was like nothing I had read before.

But unfortunately once you delved deeper into the books, there were clear issues.

Namely, the way they wrote about women throughout the series and the way the female characters were portrayed were nothing short of horrendous. The men were degrading and the women were written to be treated like trash.

I also felt that they held back too much when it came to talking about the crimes and the crime scenes. They wanted these books to be thrilling but I found them to be too tame.

One thing I did enjoy was the chapters switching between characters, it kept the story fresh and offered different perspectives on the same situation. It also allowed us to see things from the Hangman's perspective, and I love seeing things from the killers POV!

There were points at which it felt like the authors could have condensed the books into perhaps 2, that were a little bit longer, but cut out some of the crap that was there just to fill the space. So many times I found myself wanting to skim read or skip parts because they just weren't relevant to the story and didn't add any value.

And at the end of each book it said to be continued... Which bugged me no end. That is no way to finish a book, a chapter sure, but the whole book? Definitely not. It made the books seem cheap.

I made the decision not to continue with this series when we had had 3 books of the so called detectives trying to solve the case, being unable to and then the authors resorting to smut to try and fill the pages... I have no issue with smut, but it just didn't the book at all and was pointless, an easy way to fill space.

On the whole, these books were good, but they just missed the mark for me. There was something missing and they didn't quite have that grittiness that you come to expect from crime thrillers.

Attention spoiler of volume 2:
Always a great story. Now that we know who the hangman is, we just have to find out how he will be caught or who will be the next victim. At the same time, the beginning of Jo's relationship with Jake dies as quickly as it began when Jake discovers that the corrupt senator who is also targeted by the Hangman is none other than Jo's father.
We learn a little more about how the Hangman came to life, but also, about new characters, until then secondary, who become more important.(for example, jo's stepbrother)
This is very well written to the point that at times, I supported the serial killer more than his future victims who are quite twisted. In short, it's excellent.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book

The Game Is Not Over Yet

As the twisted plot thickens so does the sexual chemistry and mixed signals between Jo and Jake. Things are more twisted since Jo's bombshell about her family and Jake lashes out. More players enter the game thinking they can take control but little do they know the rules are always changing. I'm not sure whose rejection stings more but I'd love to throat punch Jake for taking his bruised ego to another to scratch his itch, more than once. While scratching said itch, Jake's let info slide in the investigation and it could cost another life. How will this affect their working relationship let alone the feelings shared but hidden?? With the Hangman's identity revealed time is of the essence before other plots of murder become a twisted part off the case. OMG!!!! This series is gloriously whacked and you can't help but continue turning pages like starting at a train wreck. JUST CAN'T GET ENOUGH!!! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book and HIGHLY recommend this one click killer read. Counting the days to part four and hoping to get more answers instead of more questions. What are the chances Jake starts thinking clearly about what he wants and Jo gives him a chance to redeem himself???

I’m totally addicted to this series! It’s got me on the edge of my seat, there’s a great deal of suspense and action.

I like that Jake is a really good guy with a strong level of morality and a stronger work ethic, his battle between wanting to do the best to help those in need of a good cop and needing to be rid of the corruption he sees all around him is literally causing him sleepless nights.

It’s very apparent now that Jake is strongly attracted to his new temporary partner Jo, in honesty she’s just as attracted to him but they are both tiptoeing around each other for one reason or another.

Jake isn’t happy when he finds out exactly who Jo’s father is but then again she’s not best pleased to discover her fathers involvement in all that’s going on with the hangman either!

I love the fact that you actually get the perspective of the hangman in some of the chapters it’s puts a refreshing twist on the usual crime thriller approach. I received an ARC copy of the book and this review is voluntary and honest.

If you enjoy crime thrillers I’m sure you’ll enjoy this series it’s got a lot going on and definitely keeps you turning the page!

Oh my! This third episode of The Hangman series by W.L. Knightly [aka Lexy Timms and Ali Parker] just gets better with each book. In this one Detective Jake Thomas knows the identity of The Hangman but can they stop him before he commits any more murders?? He's murdered their Chief and Jake is so confused as his feelings for Jo are under pressure and he gets way too close to his therapist which could really scupper all his chances with Jo forever. Lexy and Ali are a force with the pen and their power just exceeds each previous book. I've loved each book and look forward with impatience for the fourth book! I received a reader's copy of this book and voluntarily leave my honest opinion of this page turning, must have read, here. Most Definitely Recommended.

I love that this means we have at least one more book to go now, but I also hate that it means we have at least one more book to go. I adore having a good bad guy I can cheer for. And at this point, I’m not sure whether or not I want to see The Hangman caught before he’s completed his mission. The plot is becoming more and more complex as additional players are added to, and taken out of, the game. But the chemistry between Jake and Jo just might undo their whole case. As a spectator I love sitting back and watching the drama. I’m so torn about how I want this to turn out.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. This series is so on the edge of your seat good, I can’t stand it. It’s raw, dark and twisted in the best way possible. Jake and Jo are hot on the trail and Jake believes he’s discovered who the Hangman killer is. The chemistry and attraction between Jo and Jake is super charged and getting in the way of the investigation and when Jo’s family secrets come to light how will that play in the end game for Jake? So many twists and another person in the sights of the killer. I couldn’t put this book down, I was sucked in from the start and you won’t be able to stop either. Highly recommend this book.

TWISTED! 👍👍👍👍👍
From one moment to the next you pushed so far to the edge as the shocking twists send you reeling with anticipation for what is going to happen next only to come up short gasping in shock as your blind sided at every turn filled with adrenaline and fear for the unknown. I absolutely love the dark thrills and chills you get from this series and the deeper you get the more crazy and twisted the storyline becomes sucking you in workout an end in sight as it starts to strip you of your own sanity filling you with the creepy feeling as if it were a bit more real than just a story your reading. I'm so hooked I can't wait to read more!

As clichéd as it sounds: I cannot wait for the next installment!

More voices are added to the book's narration, & we see the addition of new characters as the plot thickens and drama unfolds. While Jake's personal life is taking an intriguing turn, The Hangman continues to outwit everyone, though his identity is known by both the police and his potential victims.

I'm a lot more excited now that the series is being extended - not that I wasn't before, but it means I have many more months of this on-the-edge-of-my-seat reading.

If you haven't yet, start this series TODAY! I recommend it.

Hidden Crime (Hangman Book 3) by W.L. Knightly

This is the next book of the Hangman series and Ali Parker sure is making the characters of Jo and Jake chase the obsessed killer with dogged determination. They are adept at find the clues while pouring over documents and following leads as the murders continue to climb. I enjoy this murder mystery and each book in the series heightens my enthusiasm for the chase. Well written mystery and looking forward to the conclusion of just how the detectives get their man. Awesome!

Im loving this series.
It starts off from where the previous book ended.
Jake is shocked by the discovery of who his partner really is.
This books follows jake as he tries to find the murderer.
I didnt like one aspect of this book which is why i took a star off the review. I will not reveal this aspect as I know it might put some people off from reading.
It felt wrong somehow and i just skimmed over it.
Besides that aspect i thoroughly enjoyed this book.
I received an ARC of this book from the author. I voluntarily review the book. This is my honest review.

Book 3 in the series and they do need to be read in order

Jake and Jo know who the Hitman is but they can't find him. The Hitman is getting revenge on everyone involved in freeing the man who killed his family.. We have a few people left on that list including the Senator and his son who happen to be Jo's father and half brother.. As the Hitman continues will Jake and Jo be able to save anyone and will they stop battling with each other long enough to put the feelings aside and work together?

Interested to see how this all turns out.. Ready for Book 4

Great addition to the series. In the last book, Jake had finally figured out who the hangman was and all he needed to do was arrest him. Simple, right! Think again. First of all there is Jo's connection to the case complicating the issue and then no one knows where he is. Much more is learned about the hangman's past, making him a more sympathetic character. More info about Jo and Jake's relationship. It's no wonder that Jake is still a bachelor. He constantly has his foot in his mouth. And talk about horrible decisions!!! I'm really enjoying this series and highly recommend it.

Book 3 in the series. You do have to read them in order. Definitely worth a binge read. Jake and Jo continue to work the problem. They know who dunnit and who's on the list but there is another piece to the puzzle that could change things. We won't know for a while. Cliffhanger yes, but you won't mind because the story in rich in detail, steeped in mystery and there are always things that pop up that no one anticipates. If you want a great book/series with a bite your nails storyline, this is for you. HIghly recommended. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).

Woo!
A "killer" suspense riddled storyline with dynamic twists and turns and an intense magnetic attraction between Detectives Jo and Jake .. the third book into this detailed madness- I am hooked!
So much goes on! We learn more about the Hangman, are introduced to new characters, all while reading dark, heat-fueled, witty mystery-laden tale that flows together seamlessly!
Gah
I cannot wait for more- If you have not started W.L Knightly's amazing Hidden Crime Series, I highly recommend checking it out for yourself!

IDIOTS

This one was okay. It was nice getting to know more about Jo and where she comes from, but Jake's actions are really starting to piss me off. Also there a few editing mistakes in the book, it kind of bothers me. I would love more from the Hangman's POV. Kyle is a nut job and Michael is being an ignorant abetting father. In general, the characters were all idiots during this book than in the others (exception for The Hangman). However, I still love this series and will definitely be reading the next one!

Now that detectives Jake and Jo know the Hangman’s identity will they be able to stop him before he kills someone else? What about the attraction between them? Will they finally act on it?
This whole series keeps my on my toes from the first page with every book! I love all characters and storyline! I have a hunch about how it will all end but we’ll see if I’m right.
I’m so glad we’ll get more books in this series!
Can’t wait for the next one!

This is the third book of the series. At the beginning it should have been the last, but the authors prolonged the story from 3 books to 6.
Even this book is as good as the others. The story is evolving, so are the relationships between the characters. In this book we encounter new characters and apprehend new details about the people. The story is intriguing and as always beautifully written. 5 stars and let’s hope to read the next book ASAP!

As I reviewed the last book, I will this one with the same enthusiasm. It was absolutely Linn the edge of my seat amazing!! I was turning pages like they were on fire! I was just so excited, and then crying and then excited

This series is a great detective story, with bloody gory details and the same intriguing details for every aspect of this book. The office romance, the catch, the surprises!

The first two books of the series were OK, and I read the third hoping that it would get wrapped up only to find that there are two more in the series?! Stretching it into a trilogy seemed like a bit much already.

The tone of this one took a really badly-written sexually graphic turn. It had nothing to do with the story, and was so misogynistic that I was appalled to find out that two women wrote this.

I don't have it in me to read any more of their books.

I cannot stand the way women are portrayed in this series. I love the crime story and I like Jo but all the other women and how men talk about the women in this series makes me so mad. If I thought I was reading a steamy read maybe I could understand it but I picked up this series for the crime story and Jo and Jake’s relationship is just frustrating. However, I do like the whole cat and mouse game with The Hangman and I probably will read book 4 just to see how he gets caught.

This one was a bit more spicy than the rest of the books in the series so far and I was quite surprised by it. I wasn’t expecting a detective thriller with such gruesome murders to turn into a spicy novel. Nevertheless, this one ended on another cliffhanger and I can’t wait to see what happens next with this investigation… The Hangman is still on the loose, more victims off his list and the detectives are still one step behind stopping the Hangman’s revenge unfolding…

This well-written series has a twisted plot that is ramping up, even more, intrigue, mixed messages, chemistry, darkness, and changing rules. The characters are developed, relatable and realistic along with the realism of the situations unfolding. I love this series. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

Now that we know who the Hangman is, we are stuck between grieving with him, and, honestly, rooting for him a little bit, and horror at what this man is truly capable of. Is the villain a bad guy? Are the good guys really heroes? And can Jake keep his foot out of his mouth for more that two sentences when it comes to Jo?

Another Great Read!

I am really enjoying this series! However, I am ready for something to happen between Jo and Jake also! I think this is a book that others will enjoy! SO many people who think they are too Big and Bad that nothing will happen to them. Too bad it's too late when they find out they are totally wrong! This is a book I will definitely recommend to others!

Things are getting juicy with this series. I love and hate the Kyle character, he is so utterly horrible and I hope everything comes back to get him. Jake is a great character and love reading about him. This is a really good series and I can’t wait to find out more
