John Paris (real name Frank Trelawny Arthur Ashton) wrote this book in 1932.
He lived (1886 - 1976) and was British Ambassador to Japan in the 1920s, accompanying Crown Prince Hirohito to Great Britain in 1921.
This book covers the adventures of Matsumoto, a young Japanese nobleman and head of a Buddhist monastery. He meets an English high society girl at Oxford, they fall in love and fate guides them on a trip to Japan.
An interesting read, similar to his other great adventures like Kimono and Banzai, but actually not quite so riviting. I was expecting something really special as he wrote this 10 years later. Even still, something thrilling about stepping back into time in the country I currently live.
