A Love that Endures

Rate this book
Million-bestselling author Bella Forrest's first contemporary romance novel...

They say that love conquers all.
Can it? Does it?

Katerina and David were the unlikeliest of people to ever fall in love.
She was royalty; he was an ordinary person.
She was wealthy; he was a scholarship student.

But the one place where you can find the elite rubbing shoulders with the ordinary is Harvard, in whose hallowed halls Katerina and David met and fell in love. However, the powers that be were determined that they be kept apart at all costs, and that David be destroyed.

And destroyed he was.

He became a broken man, and Katerina had been convinced that he was not the man she thought she fell in love with.
There was no way back for them now.

How can love overcome insurmountable obstacles and, against all odds, rise again? The harsh realities of life should prevail — after all, it's only in fairy tales that "love conquers all." Or is it?

This didn't start well. A table of contents with chapters called: Katy....David.... Katy....David ...etc. How boring!

And then over 10 interminable pages of links to the authors other books. Those needed to go at the end!!

And when I started reading and discovered this involved 'hazing' and university 'societies' in the US.

I have an absolute hatred of hazing and its utterly vile bullying and I lost all interest in reading on.

Not rating at this moment in time.

“A Love That Endures” weaves romance and jealousy into a captivating plot set at Harvard University that begins when David saves Katy’s friend from being raped at a fraternity party. Returning her to her dorm, he encounters the intriguing Katy whose devotion to her best friend and cousin stops her from pursuing anything more than friendship with the handsome and genuinely honest David.

However, Cupid has other ideas for the pair as their attraction deepens and on a weekend trip to New York and Katy not only becomes enmeshed in the search for his roots but divulges a closely kept secret that could eventually tear them apart.

Combining love, jealousy and intrigue into a modern-day fairy tale the story of the romance between a commoner named David and the Lorrian Princess Katerina De Courtes (Katy) opens with a chance meeting at Harvard. Intensity and suspense build as Katy having survived heartbreak rejects their mutual attraction because of her secret and the fear that her cousin has feelings for him. Yet the tension mounts when she’s drawn into his search for family and discovers their feelings have grown far beyond friendship.

Told from Katy and David’s perspectives, the slow pace picks up with an emotional encounter in New York, a secret revealed, and a trip to Lorria. Progressing steadily as circumstances unravel and Bella Forrest reveals some hidden twists in the plot, the story flows to an ending that promises a fascinating sequel.

Among the characters breathing life into this story are David Rosen, a Harvard student enrolled on a scholarship who’s looking for a link to his past. A hard worker whose ethical, sensible and compassionate, he’s attracted to the naïve, moralistic but sassy, unpredictable and smart Princess Katerina De Coutes (Katy). Among their friends is the self-centered, jealous, and overbearing Cassie who pretends to be Katy’s best friend, as well as David’s friend/roommate, the strait-laced, guilt-ridden Zeke who becomes more sociable and easy-going after some well-deserved counselling.

Although not enthralled with “A Love That Endures” at first, the story gets progressively better as it nears the cliff-hanger at the end and I look forward to reading the sequel as David and Katy’s romance continues.

I really enjoyed the plot of this book, as well as the well rounded characters. However, for me, the story was too drawn out to hold my attention. I found myself starting to skim pages because I already knew what was going to happen as it had already happened a million times before in the storyline. I wish that the book could’ve been more condensed or possibly even combined with book 2 into one story. But overall it was a good book that I enjoyed reading.

Ok this book started with potential so I kept pushing thru, then a cliffhanger to read the next book! Didn’t know a next book and unsure if will read as this book seemed drawn out to me, not really interested in characters just want to know how got from point a to b. The best part of book was last chapter

Flat and not exciting

I am a fan of Bella Forrest but I think this is not one of her best books. The plot is like those Hollywood Princess movies where Princess meets a commoner they fall in love, along the way they encounter difficulties and try to fight it back. The story was slow and dragging. I feel like it’s on a snail’s pace. The characters seems to be oblivious of what actions they need to do next. Although the chapter where David meets her dying Aunt I must say was emotional and touching. The twist towards the end is a an unexpected turn. But honestly, I just got bored. Sorry but not a fan of this book.

I like the concept behind the book, the storyline is good, but it is quite drawn out and takes time to get anywhere. It’s also quite cliche and most plot twists could be seen coming a mile away. Bella Forrest is a good writer in that she gets the reader interested in the story, but she has a tendency to drag a series out over too many books, and this is no exception - I’m not sure I’ll bother with the sequels. She also has a habit of drawing out a budding romance for far too long before the characters get the revelation that they’re interested in each other, and also of throwing an unrealistic amount of obstacles in their way. Too slow paced and cliche for me.

Bella Forest is an author like no other! From vampires, to crime ,to romance. Everything she has written i have personally read and fell in love with. The stories and the way the characters pull you in as if your living it. A love that endures is not just about boy who meets a girl, falls in love, and lives happily ever after. It's full of happy moments, sad moments, very unexpected moments, and heart stopping moments where you catch yourself forgetting to breathe. In the end will love endure? A must read to find out how David and Katy's story will end!!

Another Great Read from Bella Forest

Although this book is quite different from her other series, I enjoyed reading it. I can’t wait to see what happens between Katy and David. I was wondering how things were going to turn for the worst between, but when I got to the end of the book I completely understand why. I must say Cassie is not one of my characters. Thank you again Bella Forrest

I absolutely loved this book. The suspension killed me but got there in the end. Couldn't believe the end total shocker. I'm craving the next book now badly. It's a nice step away from the supernatural stuff into reality or what some people may go through in life. Definitely recommend I couldn't put it down.

A Princess story, so good!

A Princess trying to keep her identity secret while attending Harvard and getting over her heartbreak. Then she finds the perfect guy but there's so many obstacles in their way. Will their love endure? Can't wait for the next book to find out! Love this author, read almost all her books and this is another great series in the making.

*** No Spoilers ***

I love to read all of Bella's series. For some reason I couldn't get into this book.. I'm not really sure as to why. The writing was excellent as always with Bella. The storyline seemed interesting.
I'm going to recommend this book because it's still written excellently.

Great start to this series.

The characters have been built and the scene is set. Let’s see how the intrigue and malicious maneuvering by the villains unfold. Greed is such a great nail biter of a read with young love as the back drop. Absolutely love it. See you at the end of book 2

Love the story. Seems there's lot of obstacle

I had a feeling Cassie was two face, all this time Cassie been acting
And Katy parents are selfish, only care of power, they consider then own daughter's well being.
Can't wait Katy's and David's love journey

I love Bella Forrest's writing, her shade of vampire series is my absolute favorite!

I enjoyed reading this story and started wondering if Cassie was the villain in this story, but the parents too? I can't wait for the next book to see how this plays out!

Although it's Bella's 1st foray into the romance novel world I was utterly impressed as always with her skill to craft characters and entire world's out of her wonderful imagination! I cannot wait for the second book.
