Robbed: How the FA is Cheating Children in England

Rate this book
Football was standardised in England from where it spread across the world. The World Cup is now the biggest show on earth. It is estimated that almost half the world’s population watched the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. It had more humble origins though, of the thirteen countries who attended the first World Cup in Uruguay in 1930 many had to be cajoled into going. Now it is the most coveted prize in sport.
Nowhere is it coveted more than in England and the English FA has tried desperately to come up with a way to win. It has introduced professional academies, changed game formats and even employed coaches with proven track records; to no avail. But the most destructive of all the FA schemes is the unleashing of tens of thousands of amateur football coaches on England”s children. Many make football so unenjoyable that children quit football leading to a high drop out rate from children’s football in England. John Breen, in his seven years as a grassroots football coach, witnessed the continuing destruction of the children’s game as his concerns fell on deaf ears.
Robbed is an insight to the treatment of thousands of children playing grassroots football in England.
