I’ll save you as many times as I have to, even if it means saving you from yourself

My heart pounds erratically as the crowd swells around us, panic thick in the air. This can’t be how I die, not here, not tonight. Through the throng of bodies, I can see him...Thane. Of all the ways I thought tonight would end, this wasn’t even on my list. Pain lances through me and I can tell by the look in his eyes that whatever just happened, it’s bad. My hand reaches for my leg and I find it sticky and wet with my own blood.

Whatever happens, I know Thane will save me.

Screams, and blood, and tragedy haunt my dreams. I'm alive and I owe it all to the gorgeous former marine who refused to leave me for dead. But how can I start a new relationship when I'm not even sure who I am anymore?

**This is the first book in the Heathens Ink series in which every book can be read as a stand alone. This is a steamy M/M romance with hurt/comfort themes and a guaranteed HEA

CAUTION: this book is recommended for readers 18+ and does contain one scene of graphic violence that may disturb some readers.

I read through this, reluctantly, highlighting like a maniac. Neuhold perpetrates some of my most hated writing faux pas. She uses a comma after "and" every time she uses it to begin a sentence, uses the term "all the sudden", puts apostrophes where they aren't needed, mixes up present and past tense, disregards her own facts, repeats facts, and doesn't seem to think about what she's writing.

"How about a little beefcake with a side of twink?"

"...my grasp on his arm is wretched away."

Her complete disregard for medical common sense made me want to break stuff. Madden is shot in the beginning of the book. Once in the abdomen, once in the leg, once in the arm. Thane is a firefighter, so he's had paramedic training. As such, he should know the difference between when a femoral artery is nicked as opposed to when it's severed. Yet when the paramedics show up, Thane tells them he thinks Madden's femoral artery may have been severed. It takes about four minutes to bleed out when your femoral artery is severed, so since Madden was still alive by the time emergency services showed up, I think it's a safe bet it wasn't severed. A firefighter would know this.

Later, in the hospital, there are several instances where Madden was sitting up, hunching over his hands, Thane helping him lie back down, etc. He was shot in the abdomen. There would be no sitting up, hunching over, etc. He also wouldn't be lifting both arms to cover his face since he was shot in the fucking arm. When Thane asks Madden if he needs anything shortly after he wakes up, Madden casts an embarrassed look towards the bathroom. He would have had a catheter since he'd been unconscious. Then Madden has a panic attack while still hooked up to a heart monitor, and Thane helps him calm down until the monitor returns to normal. Yet none of the nurses popped into the room to see what was going on.

"I nod and attempt to sit up. A sharp pain spikes through my abdomen and I fall back with a gasp."

Finally? After sitting up how many times before that?

Thane lifts Madden up and places him in the shower without bothering to cover his cast.

Madden is a recovering addict who doesn't want the prescription of Oxycontin his doctor gives him, but he's too ashamed to mention it in front of Thane. So I'm thinking the problem is one that is easily rectified; just don't fill the prescription. Right?

Somehow, without going to a pharmacy, Madden has a bottle of pills. Is Neuhold under the impression that hospitals just hand out bottles of Oxy?

After the shooting, the news reports claim fifteen dead and at least two dozen injured. When Madden asks about it later, Thane says, "'Ten people died, fifteen more were injured.'"

"I blink awake against a solid chest, surrounded by the scent of Irish Springs soap, and man."

And man...what? What is that comma doing there?

And Irish Springs? It's like in another part where she referred to Aquaphor as 'Aquapor'. Just say lotion and describe a basic soap scent. Fiddling with brand names cheapens your story.

"...about the lack of sleep I've been getting."

"If you'd asked me six weeks ago what my biggest fear was relapse."

"Move theaters, shopping malls, restaurants, fuck even parks."

I've always found fucking uneven parks to be a bit more satisfying.

"...eager to have his gorgeous cock in my face and in my mouth, in that order."

Well, it would be rather strange to do it in any other order.

I have more highlights, but fuck this.

Audiobook - 4 stars

Story - 2.5 stars

I have had this series for like forever, finally decided to give it a try.

I found this one just okay, everythig was Insta and happened too fast for me to form a conection with the characters. The writing and the dialogue felt off and stilted.

The audiobok was good, it helped me soldier through the story as I was doing my chores, so that is a plus.

I already have the rest of the books, maybe I will give them a try to see if it improves.

A great start to a new series!

POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED SO NO BITCHING AFTERWARDS LOL

Thane and Madden meet at a gay club both looking for someone to share their bed for the night. Sparks fly between the men and soon after bullets do as well. What was suppose to be a night of fun ends in tragedy and blood.

Thane tried his best to get Madden out but as he was dragging him along behind him they got separated. Thane looks back and tries to get back to him, but as he is struggling through the frantic crowd more bullets are heard and he sees Madden go down. Madden has been hit and is now being trampled by everyone trying to get out and seeing this Thane shoves many to get to him.

Thane is feeling guilty about not being able to protect Madden. He feels a connection to the man and refuses to leave his side. When they assume Thane is Madden's boyfriend he doesn't correct them just so he can ride in the ambulance and stay with him. But when he can't produce Madden's last name at the hospital a nurse takes pity on him and lets him into Madden's room. Soon he gets into contact with Madden's friends and roommates and we get to meet the stars of the future books in this series and I am really interested in seeing how it will play out for the rest of the guys.

I won't say much more because I feel like I've said more than what I should and possibly have spoiled some stuff. I'll put a warning at the top to make myself feel better. LOL I hate things being spoiled unless I ask for them to be. [=

Anyways, I really liked this one. I liked the relationship between the two men. I liked them period. I mean a firefighter and a tattoo artist are hot on their own, but put together?

Just saying. LOL

The relationship moves in a good pace. There is no insta love. There isn't over the top sex. But boy the sexy times are good. No complaints.

This had a great mix of passion, friendship, love, and family.

I can't wait to read about the rest of the guys in this series.

Happy reading dolls! xx

This was a nice buddy-read for me with my favorite ladies, Susan, Elsbeth and Karlijn :)

Thane is a former marine and current fire-fighter. He is gay and closeted, not because he is really scared of coming out, but because it was easier to stay inside the closet, because if his jobs. He has never been in a serious relationship before, so he didn't feel the need to come out either.

hot-firemen-portland-26-356x535.jpg (356×535)

Madden is a tattoo-artist. He works at Heathens Ink, with his best friends. He is out and proud. He was kicked out by his parents when he was 14 years old, for being gay.

672a39915854988b47777beed736d9c3.jpg (236×354)

Thane and Madden meet in a gay club and are immediately attracted to one another. But before they can make actual plans about going home together, all hell breaks loose. Thankfully Thane's training kicks in and he saves the day big time....

Art GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY

He even offers Madden a place to stay, because Madden isn't able to return home to his appartment. Thane definitely had a bit of a hero-complex going on, but it wasn't annoying...it was actualy quite endeering.

The two of them become closer and closer while Thane takes care of Madden. They were really sweet and hot together....

21459223.gif (366×206)

But it's not all sunshine and roses, since Madden is still struggeling with the aftermath of all that has happend.

tumblr_n4a4otYP7x1smyj8co1_500.gif (500×205)

Now this book is pretty heavy on the insta-love and very fast paced. Thane only looks at Madden once and decides the man is his. Also, even though this book deals with some heavy subjects, it isn't really deep. I just felt something was missing....I think I like a bit more dept in my story and I like my MC's to be a bit more developed.

That being said, I still enjoyed this one and I will definitely give book 2 a try which will be an MMM.

I had to read this because, firefighters! No firefighting action but some pretty decent hurt/comfort. If you decide to read this, suspend your disbelief in a big way because the situations are pretty far-fetched, but I did enjoy this and recommend it for a nice, sexy tattoo artist falling for a firefighter.

I liked the hurt-comfort and the sweetness between the MCs, but I didn't care for the drama in the last few chapters. Madden's actions toward the end made no sense.

The story attempts to deal with a serious topic , but there wasn't enough depth to engage me in the characters' emotions.

Closer to 2.5 stars, rounded up.

I really liked the first 75% of of this story, but the last 25% was such a letdown, that I can't rate any higher than 3 stars.

description

Thane, a former marine turned firefighter, is trying to find a hook-up in the gay bar he's at, when he spots the sexy tattooed man at the bar.

Madden is a tattoo artist who normally doesn't do hook-ups, but he's lonely and just wants someone to have fun with for a night. So when the big hunk of a man comes to talk to him, he let's him buy him a drink.

The guys hit it off and are just about to go to Thane's place for some fun, when the sounds of gunshots and screaming startles them. Thane tries to hold on to Madden in the crowd, but he ends up letting go of his hand. It is then that Madden gets shot. But luckily Thane gets to him and carries him out of the club.

Madden is brought to the hospital when it is obvious he has been shot 3 times. Thane doesn't want to let the man he just got to know go yet, so he goes to the hospital with him.

Luckily Madden is not in danger of dying, but he does need a place to recover from his injuries. And since his own place is only reached by stairs that he can't climb with his broken ankle, Thane offers him a place to stay.

The two get very close once they're living together. But Madden is still really struggling with everything that happened, mentally and physically. So they both decide to take thing slow, but agree that they are indeed steering towards a relationship...

I really liked the hurt/comfort parts of this story. I liked how Thane took care of Madden and how they got close after the shooting.

description

What I didn't like was the drama in the last 25%. I totally got where Madden was coming from, but I had a very hard time believing he got his life on track in just a few weeks since he had trouble taking care of himself for years. And the way he did it , was not making me happy.

I had a very hard time liking the last 25% and skimmed most of it. Too bad, because this started out really strong.

I was glad I had my Dutch girl, Wendy, Karlijn and Els to talk about this. Thanks girls!

Sparks fly when a tattoo artist, Madden, and former Marine/current firefighter, Thane, meet one night in a gay club while looking for a hook-up. But before the two men get the chance to leave for a night of unbridled passion, chaos ensues when an armed gunman starts shooting up the place, catching Madden in the line of fire. Luckily for Madden, it’s embedded in Thane to leave no man behind, and even in all the pandemonium Thane is able to get to a seriously injured Madden and get him to safety.

What comes next is a slow-burn, hurt-comfort story, which follows an injured and mentally troubled Madden, as he slowly heals from his multiple gunshot wounds with Thane’s unwavering care and support. But the physical healing is the least of Madden’s worries, as he finds himself fighting his urges as a reformed addict to stay away from the pain killers prescribed him, while also avoiding the emotional fallout of surviving such a traumatic event. On top of all of that, due to possible nerve damage sustained due to his injuries, Madden may also never be able to create his art or be a tattooist ever again, leaving him feeling hopeless and purposeless.

Madden clearly has a metric ton of shit to work through over the course of this story, but thankfully, having Thane by his side through it all makes him feel like everything might just be okay eventually. It’s definitely not a love magically heals all story, but the love certainly helps.

Some of the themes within this story were understandably heavy, and at times I’m not all that sure I was content with the way they were handled. In fact, I could go as far as to suggest that too much was piled onto Madden’s emotional plate, making it hard to focus on him adequately dealing with one thing in any substantial way. Yes, life is complex and messy and no one has just one problem, but it kind of felt like too many hurdles were thrown into the mix here just to make it more drama-licious.

There were even a few moments I had to suspend disbelief, too. I may have never been shot in my life (knock on wood) but I doubt a triple bullet wound victim would be released from hospital mere hours after regaining consciousness. Add to that, the post-surgery care seemed a bit sloppy. I had minor laparoscopic surgery recently and wasn’t allowed to properly shower for two days, yet Madden just jumped on into the shower himself, with an arm AND leg injury, plus a bullet to the abdomen, less than a day after the shooting (and even less time since his life preserving surgeries). Just, no.

Anyhow, regardless of some of my personal niggles, I generally liked this story for the hurt-comfort romance that it was. I also liked the side characters that made up Madden's Heathens Ink colleagues and friends, so I might even find myself exploring this series further as the stories are released.

DNF @ 18% because I was rolling my eyes so much I was making myself dizzy.

I don't know exactly how to categorize the issues I had with this story. They're not necessarily continuity errors. Maybe plot flow issues if you don't think of them as pacing issues. It's that unusual situation where you're reading a contemporary romance novel so you expect the characters to act like people you might know or meet in your normal life, yet the characters are acting so strangely that you simply can't picture or rationalize their actions.

Below are some of my notes while I was reading. They are major spoilers for the beginning of the book, so don't read them if you're planning on reading this book and haven't done so yet.

Moving on. Next please.

My aversion to sloppy, sloppy research reared it's head and I could not get past the first few scenes.

One MC is shot three times, once in the arm, abdomen and femoral artery. The actions in the hospital - nurse says he had minor surgery, he can eat regular cafeteria food that day, doctors have no concern of infection for his abdominal gut shot and write off his femoral artery nick as if it's minor and won't have any long lasting issues, hospital releases him after two days. Just No. No. NO. NO. To me this scenario is so disrespectful to the Pulse victims that spent months and months in the hospital recovering from their wounds. 10 minutes or less of internet searching would have shown the amount of recovery for the wounds described and having him recover in the hospital and portraying hard working nurses and doctors in a competent way should have been more important than getting the two MC's living together after meeting 2 days earlier.

There are so many other issues in the hospital that I really could highlight every single paragraph with something incorrect, impossible or ridiculous.

Also, he has 5 friends and every one of them are too busy or won't make room for him to come stay with him. They literally hand him over to a trick he met the night of the shooting (it was the guy that saved him, but still..) and have no issues with him going to stay with this rando that he just met for at least 6 weeks of recovery (he broke his ankle too).

The writing is very basic, with so many editing errors the author should be embarrassed...and with such blatant non research in the beginning this book was NOT for me. PASS. Hard pass.

*** This is my first book by this author, and I thoroughly enjoyed it !
A Marine, a firefighter Thane, spots a beautiful man, lithe, tattooed, and laughing, and Thane wants to know him. He pays for the man's drink; his name is Madden, a tattoo artist. These two click on every level. Destined for each other, good conversation, and big attraction to each other, we see the bud of romance.

After awhile, all HELL broke loose at the Club. Gunshots, terrified screams fill the air and Madden is bleeding. Thane's training kicks in and he gets him outside where they might be safe. Ambulances arrive; Thane knows the EMTs, and he rides along to the hospital. Chaos continues at the hospital with the wounded. Madden took three bullets.
*** It was a copycat shooting of the Pulse Club the year before.***
Madden survives; Thane never left his side. He takes Madden to his home to recover. Lots of comfort and healing, deep conversations, good times hanging out together. After some fooling around, they decide to let Madden recover and take it slow.

I loved these guys ! Each needed the other and they fit so well. Madden's dark past is explained and the pain pills are an issue. Ever patient Thane understands and is amazing and so sweet. They get to cement a friendship, but each looks forward to more. Thane hadn't been "out," but he is now, because news reels show him carrying Madden out of the club to safety. But, Thane's not upset, he's relieved. Madden has a lot to deal with, besides the Oxy, he's having nightmares, PTSD and anxiety, plus fears of leaving the house. Finally therapy is introduced, due to Madden's huge screw up. I think Thane is awesome. Who else would have his patience and love after all he deals with?

This story is different than most, as it is fresh and exciting. Their sex is super hot; their emotions are deep and meaningful.
I couldn't put it down. Love the cover ! I highly recommend it !
ENJOY !

After a shooting at a nightclub, firefighter Thane becomes the lifeline for tattoo artist Madden. As Madden recovers their love grows stronger. But is it truly love or co-dependency?

This book deals with some heavy subjects: shooting, suicide, addiction, co-dependency, PTSD...some just touched on some a little deeper. My heart really went out to Madden. He's had a tough life and wants to make it on his own. I could have definitely choked him at one point though. I understood where he was coming from but hurting the perfect Thane just pissed me off.

Thane was amazing. Yes, he probably had a hero-complex, but I definitely felt he loved Madden and just wanted what was best for him.

Kudos to the author for giving a real glimpse of addiction and how it affects others. And how support people want to help but sometimes don't want to face the truth.

I'm looking forward to Royal, Zade and Nash....

3.5 for this one. I enjoyed this story and I have a feeling it's one that will improve as the series develops. While Madden & Thane were the MCs we were introduced to a range of characters that left a lot of possible plots open. Madden & Thane clearly fell hard for each other after a terrible shooting incident but it felt a little unreal - Thanes protective instinct after one kiss was intense and I'm surprised Maddens mates agreed to him living with Thane while recovering. It just seemed way too fast. Of course Thane was a big sweetie but I'm just sayin ! I'm invested enough to check out book 2 😊

Possible Triggers: PTSD, Extreme Emotional Trauma
Madden and Thane are products of two very different walks of lives. A brief meeting at a local club throws them together as they come to terms and try to recover from being caught up in a shooting that takes place only minutes after they get together. Thane rescues injured Madden...stays with him until the paramedics arrive, and even through the early days of his surgery...taking him to his home and caring for him afterwards...we knew that their lives would be forever changed. Thane is a firefighter who was previously a Marine so saving people was second nature to him. He lived through "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and he still lives a fairly closeted lifestyle, but that choice is mostly because he has never found a man he wants to settle down with. He’s quite pragmatic about who he is and how he lives his life and when he is very publicly outed after saving Madden’s life, he simply rolls with it and easily deals with the one odd jerk at his fire station. Madden's life was as different from Thane's as night and day. His parents shouldn't have been allowed to ever have pets, much less children...gay or straight. They unceremoniously closed him out of their lives when they found out he wasn't ever going to be bringing home anyone that was female, in his entire lifetime. That was after their attempt to “straighten him out” that left long lasting marks on him mentally. Marks that he carries with him and that does nothing for his recovery when the shooting causes his PTSD and anxiety problems to return in spades. He's a tattoo artist at Heathen Ink...a job that literally saved his life.... but nerve damage may take that talent and job away from him. What an interesting and supportive group of friends he has there. They are truly THERE for him in every way imaginable, as is Thane. It is so easy to see how Thane will be perfect for Madden's life. I have some mixed feelings about the last part of the book. I completely understood why Madden felt the way he did, but to take the steps that he did to go about "fixing" himself, and the way that he did it, seemed so callous and really unnecessary. It was so unfair to Thane. Madden could have easily ended up losing him. Overall...it's a good story, with easy to like characters...especially Thane's parents...by an author that I really, really like.

DNF. Cutting my losses at 32%. I was optimistic after reading Broken Shards, the short prequel to this series. While that one had some issues, the main character was portrayed really well. This one had worse weaknesses without that strength.

The plot was promising but the way it was written, it felt like an all-too-convenient means to drive Madden and Thane together. Very forced. And I can get on board with insta-lust sometimes, but insta-emotional intimacy, not so much. They had just met when the club shooting happened (not a spoiler — this is the first chapter), and yet Thane is dropping “sweetheart”s and melodrama all over the place. Like how-will-I-deal-if-he-doesn’t-make-it kind of stuff. After 10 minutes.

To top it off, the editing is distractingly shitty. It feels like this is a first draft — grammatical errors, typos, repetition of details and phrases, etc.

Since this series is on KU, I may give the last one (Unraveled) a shot, based strictly on the strength of the prequel. Maybe.

Nice Hurt/Comfort

I loved the dual, first person, present tense POV and getting to see both Thane and Madden navigate their worlds after the horrific event they experience.

There's a great thread of hurt/comfort, and a nice understanding/explanation how you can't always count on someone else to save you and that sometimes you have to save yourself without being preachy about it.

I liked the supporting characters and am looking forward to getting their stories too.

Sexy hot, middling angst, great characters, and a truly sigh-inducing HEA.

Hmmm...this isn't the easiest book to rate and review. As a whole, it didn't work for me. But all the parts, looked at separately I liked, just put together something didn't sit right with me.

First of all, this was pretty serious. There was a shooting in a gay night club, there was drug use, there was a child thrown out of his home living on the streets, serious drug use and suicide. It didn't read serious though and I didn't like that. I don't think you can have all these issues in a book and not treat them VERY SERIOUSLY.

It was just a very unbelieveable read. Full on instalove and medical miracles.

Don't get me wrong though, I didn't hate it. Like I said, I liked the parts.

I don't know if I'll continue the series. The next book looks like it is M/M/M and one of the books set up before book 1, I just don't think will be my cup of tea.

Very low angst but also a tad forgettable… I felt like there was a lot that could have been done but it was done very cotton candy-esque….

Cooper North did a good job narrating helped me want to continue with the rest of the book.

TW: suicidal thoughts/possible attempt, and mass shooting.

Debating on reading book two..

Just Ok. For a book that deals with very heavy issues, it isn’t very deep, which is unfortunate as I finished it feeling unfulfilled, unsatisfied. This felt like a beginners book, everyone is a bit too “okay” for having so much trauma. A real lack of angst when there rightfully should have been more. If the author wanted a lighter, less angsty book, then they should not have picked the topics they did. These are not light topics and should not be handled lightly. You want to write a quick light book? Write a story about a country inn or a hardware store, not multiple massively traumatic community and personal events.

Otherwise, we’ll written, nice dialogue, spicy with lots of on page lovin’.

I love tattoo artist books! However, I didn't like Madden. As a recovering addict myself (I was hooked on pills for years before I turned to other drugs) I could not get inside his head at all. I actually smiled at times when I was supposed to be worried, scared, pissed? I don't know. But, I found the whole thing amusing. I kept thinking "yeah, that wouldn't happen" or "how about a big fat no" or "give me a fucking break" complete with an eye roll. One of things I can't suspend my beliefs on is addiction. I've been sober for almost 14 years and it still works a nerve to think I would need a "dose of happy". Maybe a "dose of numbness" or even a "dose of pain", but most addicts aren't addicts because they want happy. We're addicts because we need to be numb and forget. Sorry, off my soapbox.

There were times when I wanted to put this down, but I just went with it. Madden had a complete support system, but he was such a whiny bitch. Ugh! I'm not saying he didn't have a right to be pissed, but respect! That's not too much to ask. When he threw a fucking temper tantrum at Thane, which I remind you has been nothing but perfect, I about lost it.

Thane, you can do better! I heart you and your instalove self. 3 Stars, because I liked Thane.

I don't read trio's so I won't be reading the next book in the series, but I might pick up the 3rd book, if there's a 3rd. We'll see.

Cute-saturday-hurt & comfort-read with Susan, Wendy & Karlijn.

Very fast paced book with guys throwing "the luve you's" around real fast.

description

It was not all rainbows and unicorns. This book does deal with some heavy issues. PTSD, drug-addiction are two examples. Madden was suffering from the after affects of the shooting at a gay-bar where he met Thane. Thane was a sweetheart but he may have had this super-hero complex.

“Do you think I have a hero complex?”
“You’re a former marine and a firefighter, it’s a pretty safe bet to say you’ve got a hero complex.”

Now I'll just throw in some hot fella's;

Thane

Madden

Ok, so I'm totally calling this author out on the b*llsh*t of not doing research, including any all beta/editors that worked on this book. Started Rescue Me, by KM Neuhold and the guy gets shot - not once, not twice, but three times, including nixing the femoral artery (that's the big one in your leg). In additional compound fracture of his ankle requiring pins.

No hospital or doctor would release you in two days. Are you F***ing kidding me?? And then the first thing he does when he gets to the house is take a shower without any mention of the cast and/or covering it. The hospital usually provides crutches or instructs caregivers to get a wheelchair for the house. Uh.. no. Again not even mentioned.

Now let's talk about the addiction issue. The hospital doesn't bother to do a health history and learn about his past problems and then hands him a script for oxycodone. Does the author even know of the epidemic in this country? A good hospital would have collected this info the moment the patient was coherent enough.

There's a whole host more problems and I was only 17% in.
Sadly, I can't even deal with reading more.

RECENSIONE QUI: https://thereadingslove.blogspot.com/...

description

Rescue Me is much darker than I was expecting. Living through a shooting, one which is all too real in current times, means a quick, potentially hot, meeting for Madden and Thane turns into something much more serious. The repercussions of what happen that day mean everything changes for Madden. It seeps into every aspect of his life and that is a lot for anyone to have to deal with. A lot of the themes in this book are dark and heavy, but there is also healing, light moments, sexy times and some great secondary characters we’re introduced to. Overall, this was uplifting, sweet and I think everyone could use a Thane in their life. I would definitely recommend to m/m fans looking for a little bit of a heavier read.

New author to me alert...I really enjoyed this one. I loved both MC's. Thane sees Madden in the club and goes to talk to him. Just when they're getting to know each other the shooting starts. Thane fell for Madden hard and fast but Madden has all types of issues, stemming from the shooting and what he went through when he was younger so their relationship was not necessarily easy. They cared for each other but Madden had to work his issues out first. I cried in some parts. I'm not an angsty girl even though there were some heavy subjects in here it never felt too heavy for me to read. I loved their friends and can't wait for the next book in the series. I love when I discover a new author...

Bones of a good story but some niggly grammar error

This one had all the makings of a good story but I kept getting thrown out of it because of bad grammar editing and typos.

It's a shame because on paper the story narrative had lots of good elements to it, although I did raise a question about the setting of the incident which kicks it all off and whether it was too soon.

Still, there was only a little bit of angsty dramady and I didn't feel like this was too much of an insta love romance and the steam level was on the higher and hotter side.

Madden and Thane have a really sweet love story though it begins with a hate crime and mass shooting and does deal with Madden's sobriety.

They fall in love and lust quickly but the tenderness between them mutes what could feel too fast.

There is kindness and the circle of friends and LGBT youth center is a really nice aspect of the book too.

I am looking forward to more books in the series.
