USA TODAY bestselling author and Amazon Top 25 bestselling author, Addison Cain is best known for her dark romances, smoldering paranormal suspense, and twisted alien worlds. Her antiheroes are not always redeemable, her lead females stand fierce, and nothing is ever as it seems.
Deep and sometimes heart wrenching, her books are not for the faint of heart. But they are just right for those who enjoy unapologetic bad boys, aggressive alphas, and a hint of violence in a kiss.
This is the three books in the Wrens song series in one handy volume. Let me tell you this is dirty dark dystopian Reverse Harem Omegaverse at its best and in my opinion is the darkest and dirtiest of this author's addictive work.
Book one: Branded Captive. Branded Captive itself is one of the most debauched and filthy and did I mention depraved folks: (as my brains gone bye byes for the moment after wallowing around in that murky cesspit of sinful degeneracy.) That I have experienced in a very long time and I devoured every decadent perverted instance portrayed here like with tongue hanging out: god I'm such a deviant!!! You can almost taste the desperation and despair in the air. Our three alphas Caspian, Kieran and Toby are so completely bad and unredeemable they are so not good guys and are used to taking what they want and in this instant, they want Wren one defective mute albino Omega and they are prepared to use whatever means to get her to comply and in this instance with her adoptive foundlings health at risk Wren knows her options are severely limited here.
Book Two: Silent Captive Oh, how much further down this depraved rabbit-hole can poor wren even fall as she is taken and used for these selfish alphas pleasure. All with there own personal agendas and this one is even dirtier than its predecessor: I definitely need to scrub my eyeballs clean with some bleach after immersing myself in this purely decadent filth and oh my the language used here by our alphas it was so shockingly disgusting but also so hot, horny and heavy too. You will most certainly despise Caspian Kieran and Toby I know I did Silent Captive smashed and obliterated my walls dragging me kicking and screaming out of my comfort zone: this is dark dubious consent with a side serving of humiliation and this author just does this so darn well.
Book three: Broken Captive This was super dark and diabolic: everything thing broken and messed up wrapped up in one big dirty filthy dystopian bow. Caspian, Toby and Kieran are psychotic power hungry men who lack a basic conscience or any sort of compassion and empathy. But the point is the story should have had me screaming for the hills it's just that extreme and wrong. But what should turn me the hell off here did the exact opposite and made me dig in my heels for the long haul. this was such compelling reading that I couldn't put it down: whether you love this or hate it this is one story that you won't forget in a hurry its certainly in a league all of its own in that respect. If you think you can handle this level of dark then this one certainly delivers on that front. Just please be aware this series is hardcore and doesn't pull its punches one little bit.
This is dark omegaverse folks, please take heed and know your limits this is not a romance. This one gets a very twisted thumbs up from me.
This is not a new book, all these chapters have been published. When I first read this book I was a bit hesitant to read it as I had read other works by this author and although she is very talented, she does not complete most (any) of her books. The author does not post time lines on when her books will be completed nor is she clear about how many books are in a series. This is the case with this book (not really a book as it has no ending), this is chapters of an unfinished book and if you are OK with that, that's fine. If you like to know when a book is going to be completed and how many books will be published, you might want to pass. Currently the author is not working on this book and has moved on to a different story, she does this a lot and some of us have been waiting YEARS for a conclusion to a story, so purchase at your own peril.
Having read the first 2 parts of Wren’s story,i needed more. What was Wren’s future? Did she have one? And then the boxset arrived as a gift from heaven. Giving me the full story....so far.
I still ache for Wren. She has had such a hard life. Being albino,as well as mute, made her defect in her father’s eyes. He threw her away like dirt when she failed to perform for the alpha he intended to sell her to. She tried taking care of the weaker, only to find herself struggling to keep “her” two boys safe and failing. Fighting for them brings her under the attention of the ruling alpha and his seconds. Bringing her even more misery. They force her to do what they want in return for keeping “her” boys alive. They are brutal. But Wren holds on,until she finds out they’ve been playing her. And she goes feral. But it only makes things worse....
This is one of those stories that haunts you. One of those only Addison knows how to tell. And it’s not over yet!
My only hope is,i can hang on until i can find out what happens......Please,Addison....i need closure!
Mud. The bane of her existence / Mud colored eyes --- wrecking her body, her mind, but never her resolve.
As always, I'm in awe of Addison Cain's world-building skills. And all the deep DEEP feels with this.
The very mud Wren has fought to survive in .... the same shade as the eyes of the First Alpha who is both the bane of her existence and something else... Can we help ourselves from rooting for yet another 100% pure evil Addison Cain Alpha? (Not this girl)
The green-eyed Keiran whose twisted-up love is definitely blooming.
The bat-shit insane Toby--- both frightening and also a source of salvation.
This story... the filth...the visceral longing from every single one of them is addictive.
There's just SO much filth and that tiny mute girl is so strong.
This story is an abyss of filthy muck and I cannot effing wait for "Soooon" when we get the next installment.
Not going to rate it because I didn't read the whole thing, just skimmed, but I want to shelve it so I know I've tried it.
'Dark' apparently is code for 'mistreats the heroine'. So, I read reverse harem because it's a fantasy of having many men in love with the FMC and taking care of her, concerned about her. I hardly need to read about three men using her and not caring about her feelings; even one would be too much.
Wren (whom they call Jax) is mute and can't speak. She can sign and she can write, but Caspian (the leader of a gang; Kieran is his second and Toby is his third) is not really interested in communicating with her. He just wants to have sex with her.
Wren was cast out into an underground place called The Warren after her father sold her to an alpha but the alpha took her virginity roughly, without any preparation, and then accused her of being defective when she didn't orgasm. As she didn't orgasm, she couldn't make him spill his seed, because I gather that the omega's inner muscles need to massage the alpha's knot and ... um ... "rod" before he is able to ejaculate. This scene happens at the beginning of the book, so you get to read how it hurts when he takes her and also how it hurts when he forces his knot out of her. In other words: trigger warning for sexual assault.
So Caspian is not as clueless as that clueless alpha who rejected her as a mate. He knows how to get her aroused and therefore the experience is pleasurable for both of them. He didn't care that he had to blackmail her into being with him. He thinks she should be grateful for his attentions. Yes, he's very arrogant.
There's no real Stockholm syndrome here, because although Wren physically responds to him, she doesn't enjoy it emotionally and she's always aware that she has been coerced into it. Although he does try to spruce up her living environment a bit (she's poor and doesn't have many things) he does it without consulting her, and she is able to scent that the things she has been given are second-hand or cast-offs because they carry the sexual scent of other males and females on them. So it doesn't feel like it is something that he does for her, to please her, but rather just something he thinks he should be doing.
He also always has to be top dog, so he tells Kieran and Toby that he's going to have her first, for awhile, until he's satisfied, and then they can have her. They all treat her like a piece of meat or an object that can be passed around. I didn't like the guys and didn't like how the guys treated Wren. It didn't get any better over the course of the three books. Even after they nearly lose Wren, although Caspian is cut up about it, he has other girls in his den service him, and when they find Wren again, he blackmails her again and dictates to her. Never once does he spoil her or comfort her or anything like that. The moment he turned to other women, I stopped thinking of this as 'romance' in any way. There isn't any romance in this at all.
This is the first three books in the Wren’s song series. These stories are fast-paced, dark and emotional. Wren has been through so much and is so strong. Will this Omega be able to handle what Caspian, Kieran and Toby have in store for her to save her boys? Amazing characters, great world building and amazing stories. I was hooked from beginning to end on these dark and twisted tales. I loved it!
All 3 books in Addison's Wren's Song series is now available in one volume - I've read all three and they are dark, delicious and very dirty - you're in for a real treat!!
Branded Captive:
OMG Addison has done it again, another unputdownable story set in the OmegaVerse!! Step right this way for your dose of everything that you shouldn't want but can't help but like - depraved, dirty, nasty, sick, coupled with a healthy dose of WTF, jaw-dropping, eye-popping hot Alpha sexiness that involves lots of purring, growling, slicks, fluids, knots and nests!!! I tell ya, I just can't get enough of this stuff and Addison is Queen of Freak for the OmegaVerse - its an insanely compelling read, one you know you shouldn't like but holy shitballs this stuff is HAWT!!
Wren, poor love, I did feel sorry for her when we first met her, who wouldn't want outstanding parents like that eh??! But all of Addison's heroines are made of strong backbones with an unparalleled strength and determination to succeed, watch out you Alphas (Caspian, Kieran, and Toby) you really don't know what you've taken on yet!! What a star Wren is, looking after her little boys, and doing everything she an to keep them and herself alive and even ends up taking on the number 1 Alpha Caspian, who nearly ends up doing the unthinkable and claiming her, before handing her over to his 2nd and 3rd in command Kieran and Toby, all 3 different characters wanting something different from her.
This is a short read which was read in one sitting and I can't wait for the next 2 books to see how this will play out. Not to be missed if you're an OmegaVerse fan or not, and just want to get down and dirty with your freak, give this a try, you don't know what you're missing!!!
Silent Captive:
I love Addison's writing, she has a wicked mind with the ability to write about anti-hero's in such a way as for you to end up loving them, with heroine's showing their inner strength and fight, these anti-hero's end up falling for them and loving them for it.
So this was why I had a difficult time with this one. I read it in one sitting, its quite a short read, but I can't say as I really enjoyed it, but I read it for Wren - I felt everything for her, her rage, jealously, betrayal and her submission - my heart bled for her.
Caspian, Keiran and Toby - they worked together as a pack, not for Wren's pleasure, but for the power they had as a three. Individually if left alone for Wren to work her magic on them they might have shown her some affection, but they didn't, what they did they did for themselves and for a power trip, so this came as a bit of a nasty surprise for me.
Wren just wasn't strong enough to stand up to them, purely going what she went through for the love of her boys, believing she had their best interest at heart, believing she was saving them through self sacrifice. Her thinking was proved to be wrong and she lost it, as would anyone put through that.
I'm hoping that the next installment of this shows Caspian, Keiran and Toby redeeming themselves, but I'm just not sure how on earth they can go about winning Wren back after what she went through.
Please note that his is not a romance read in any way shape or form, it is classed as a horror for a reason. It is dark and brutal with scenes of total power exchange. It is not an easy read.
Broken Captive:
Part 3 of Wren's Song from Addison and wow, be prepared, there is nothing romantic about this one - it is dark, diabolical, depraved, raw and animalistic. It is everything you shouldn't like, but when you should be dropping your kindle and running very far away you find you self pulled in and unable to put this down.
Toby, Kieran and Caspian are each terribly depraved and psychotic in their own way, each different from the other but no less nasty and evil - what Wren goes through will make your skin crawl!!
In this one Wren is recovering from her rampage, Toby and Caspian each have an uncompleted 'mate' link to Wren after claiming her. All 3 men treat her differently, Toby wants her for himself as his mate so he can carry out all his depraved goings on, Caspian can't get her out of his head and so uses other women to try and oust her out of there, and Kieran acts like he really hates her and just doesn't care what happens.
Wren was badly injured from her rampage, her recovery taking lots of time. All she wants is to protect her boys and will try to please Caspian enough so that they stay safe.
Although this is a very dark and raw read there is also a lot of emotion in here. Wren is a very strong character in herself, doing all she can to make sure her boys are safe. The men are given just enough humility and you start to see them actually care about Wren so that you don't hate them completely. I can't wait to see where the next book will take us!! A very compelling read.
♡ Another deliciously dark and disturbing journey into the Omegaverse Welcome to Wren's world - Please fasten your seat belts and keep your mind in the spillway at all times Remember - THIS IS FANTASY Please enjoy the ride - we will see you on the other side 😈 Branded Book 1 So where to start - I really abhor spoilers Wren - she had my heartstrings from the opening scene She is striking in her looks - a uniqueness that will rank her as a treasure - her inability to speak will make her one of a kind - She has been trained to provide for her Alpha - to be the Omega that he will need to be the perfect breeder - or maybe not 😢 In an effort to save those she now calls family Wren will trade the last thing she owns of true value to ensure they are safe - The cost may be more than she can pay One Omega - Two Children - Three Alpha's This is a novella introduction into Cain's new series that is guaranteed to test your limits- melt your panties- and break your heart Silent Book 2 ✋ If you have not read the first book in the series ✋ If you are looking for a romance This is book two in Wren's darkly twisted exceptionally slick not-a-romance story Silent Captive starts pretty much where branded ended - without any thought to Wren's feelings our trio of Alpha's are relocating her to the beautiful room (seriously guys??) Caspian - in the first book I truly believed he was redeemable, that he cared but in his own way - SOOO NOT the case!! I hope he drowns in his own fluids Kiernan - I did not like him in book one and I hate him even more in book two - A true Sadist and if possible even more egotistical that Caspian! Toby- Even I am shocked but if I had to choose one of the three and death was not an option then it would have to be Toby. Despite his unusual kink I truly believe that he loves Wren in his own sickly twisted and distorted version of reality Wren - I get the mother wolf behavior and her forced sacrifice breaks my heart - I can not say how many times I wanted to jump into the story and wretch her and the boys free The story - Wren mentions a "true love" I do not remember anyone from book one but the fact she is holding on to that memory leads me to hold out hope that someone is looking for her. She also mentions the loss of previous children for some reason this stood out for me as she mentions it more than once -I know breadcrumbs galore! As for one of her "children" that boy needs more than a knock upside his head!! This scene sent me into all kinds of emotional breakdown. I felt like we are being set up for a very disturbing plot twist - Toby's background? The missing "true love"? Caspian's tentative hold on above ground politics? The other Omega? So many questions! I need book three now! This should be a known since this is the second book in the series but in case you have not read book one - just a reminder -this is NOT a romance - This IS a dark horror filled with depraved alphas with no sense of morality - it takes place in the realm of the Omegaverse (It is NOT reality) Broken Book 3 STOP - this is NOT a standalone, it picks up right where we left off in book two - this is NOT a romance there is no love here - this IS about survival and the drive of an omega to protect those she loves against the darkest of odds How she finds the will to pick up the pieces after each horrific nightmare is beyond me - She not only has to battle the evil that is trying to claim her she has to battle her own biological responses as well - My heart broke for her as she had to choose to stand down and bear witness to an atrocity to prevent further tragedy to those she loved - I broke when she held in her arms the one Alpha that I truly believe could be her mate - I broke when her world became buried - There is no happiness to be found as we progress forward with Wren's story but after all that has been lost and suffered, I do believe I see a small sliver of light peeking through My biggest pet peeve is the story is again too short - I felt like I was fed tasters but not given the whole meal This ends on a surprising twist of a cliffy
Since I’ve read all three books, here are my reviews broken out.
“Branded Captive” was intense to the point of discomfort. Intriguing to the point of distraction. And filthy to the point of, well, filthy. Mud, people! So, much, mud. Poor Wren, my sympathy for her was instantaneous and how hard she fought for the scraps that she managed to find. Caspian made for a delicious alpha, and Kieran and Toby were…mmmm…so good. I’ve yet to digest fully what I’d read but once I started, I found that I simply couldn’t stop (thankfully, it’s a short read) and I can’t wait to read it again. I feel as though I should be purring. At the very least, a nest is in order.
“Silent Captive” is part two of the Wren (Jax), Caspian, Kieran, and Toby saga and it is just that. Story 2 was absolutely amazing. We are treated to the absolute strength of Wren and her love for her boys. The men are filthy in all the right ways, just with far less mud. And each of them is unique to the other but together, they make for a strong triumvirate that only an omega like Jax could tie together (but that’s wishful thinking). It’s a tossup at this point as to which of Addison Cain’s series I’m enjoying more but I’m finding this reverse harem series strangely compelling and I am absolutely teamJax.
Addison Cain’s “Broken Captive” is the next installment in Wren’s story and, WOW! So much is happening. So, many feels. And since you’re already familiar with Caspian, Kieran and Toby, you’ll find your thoughts on which team you’re on to now be up in the air, because, yea, Ms. Cain went there and suddenly you’re second guessing which of the alphas is the better option (NOT choice) for Wren and is HE REALLY having feelings? AND, back to my thoughts on the story. As you read it, you’ll find yourself going through a series of emotions ranging from worry to shock to horror to … you must finish the story or you won’t be able to think about anything else. What are you waiting for?
This Book is not for the faint of heart!!! This omegaverse world is dark and depraved. Wren our “heroine” is very different and wonderful omega. For starters she is mute so the way she interacts and express herself is different. She is so pure of heart in this horrendous world. The males are despicable and interesting at the same time. I suffer with her with every abuse and non-con scene. The way they maker feel this she doesn’t want, the way her body betrayed her time and time again. She just wants to survive for her boys and give to them the best she can and the Alphas use them to control her. I loved how they are losing control of the feelings they have for her. I can’t wait to see what happens next !!!
I'll give this 2 stars simply because I was enjoying it but I am absolutely devastated that this is incomplete. And has been incomplete for almost 4 YEARS. It seems like the author has no intention of wrapping up Wren/Jax's story and it saddens me.
I couldn't keep reading it after finding out there is no resolution whatsoever. I hate that. I'm not a fan of cliffhangers in general but I thought this was finished based on how long ago it was published.
The fourth part of the story (which is also a cliffhanger) can't be purchased unless you buy the entire series again because the author bundled them differently.
Raw, gritty, gut-wrenching, and captivating are the first words I would use to describe this set. It isn't a feel good story (that's why it's labeled Dark) and there were many moments when I felt like someone had ripped my heart out, stomped on it, and shoved the whole bloddy mess back into my chest. It is also one of those stories that you won't be able to stop thinking about. It's achingly beautiful. I couldn't put these books down!
Just because of the whole DMCA notice against author Zoey Ellis, it's immediately a no.
You can't own ideas and she didn't even come up with any of the tropes/elements inside Omegaverse or A/B/O or the AU itself. Maybe give compensations to the fans who generated the material in the first place, then?
As the Tines put it "how easily intellectual property law can be weaponized by authors seeking to take down their rivals."
This is a fantastic volume. I didn't want to put it down until I read all three book. Keeps you wanting more. Love the characters and the story. Great twists and suspense. Can't wait for the next one. Must read!
Ms. Addison Cain knows how to spin the tale in an Omegaverse story. In this new series, Wren’s Song, it won’t be one Omega with an Alpha, but instead, the Kingpin Alpha, Caspian, his second, Kieran, and his third, Toby. How far will a woman go to protect the boys she calls hers? What will she sacrifice to keep them safe? The story is unequal power exchange, dark, raw, edgy, filthy-dirty, sexually explicit and a definite page-turner. This isn’t a romance; it is possession.
Branded Captive: A Reverse Harem Omegaverse Dark Romance (Wren's Song Book 1) WE SHARE, THAT’S HOW PACK WORKS!
Omega, Wren, was sold to an Alpha by her father, and then he rejected her, marking her as defective, and she was cast to Warrens, a wasteland where death and despair exist. She is a scavenger and trades for what she needs for herself and the two boys, Alec and Mikael. But when the boys are missing, she knew she has to go into the tunnels and find them.
When Caspian and his men see the bold female come into their domain to retrieve the boys, they could take her out but are shocked at the audacity of her walking up to Caspian and making a bargain. He will follow her back to her hovel and make a deal with her, and she will accept on the behave of the boys.
“In exchange for the boys, you’ll serve. Please me, and when I grow bored of you, you’ll come home with a full pocket and enough fresh water to last a year.”
The plot will have Wren subjecting herself to whatever Caspian orders, and that will include his second and third Alphas, Kieran and Toby. While he has other women he uses, he is fascinated with the tenacity of Wren and finds her unique and appealing. Seeing her clean home, she isn’t what he expects in the Warrens. But that doesn’t mean he will treat her nice, after all, there is a pecking order, and she is down the at the bottom of that list, she is his new bought whore to protect the boys.
“Wake up, little rat. The cat’s come to play.”
He will force her to nest and then accept his claim. It isn’t like with the Alpha her father tried to contract with, but it is a claiming, a possession of an Alpha with an Omega. He talks down to her one moment and then nicknames her his little mouse the next.
“Bad, bad, dirty, naughty girl. He was going to do such things to her.” Not only will Caspian use her, but he will also allow his men to have her too. He will make comments to her about how he will allow them to use her, and in many ways, it must excite her.
The story is the first in a series, and the ending will segue into the next book. Wren will sell herself to protect Alec and Mikael, but in the process, she will discover more about herself too, and in spite of it all, she finds pleasure in submission.
Silent Captive: A Reverse Harem Omegaverse Dark Romance (Wren's Song Book 2) I’M YOURS
Wren is moved from the Warrens to the Pipeworks area and will be placed with the second Alpha, Kieran, but will be subjected to whatever any of the three want., singularly or in a ménage. She sold herself for the sake of her boys, while not biologically hers, ones she has cared for and raised. Now she is no different than the other women in the pen that are used at the pleasure of men.
“Wren had spent a lot of time pretending since she’d been cast down into the mud. She was good at it. Pretend life wasn’t so awful. Compartmentalize. Survive.”
“I want to be happy too. I never wanted to be abandoned, to buy children, to live one hungry day to the next. You want a fancy Omega? That’s a game I can play.” (Wren signs)
The three Alphas will use Wren while the others watch and even at times participate in the debauchery. It isn’t lovemaking; it is claiming, dominating, forceful, rough, and degrading. While there is a pecking order and Caspian is in control, the other two make it know that they will fight him for a piece of her too, as had been promised and agreed. Coercion will be used to get her to cooperate by telling her if she willing submits to each man that she will be allowed to go see Mikael. There is nothing nice or fair about the way things are done, but this isn’t a nice place, she is among murderers and liars, and they take what they want.
“I didn’t bring her here to watch her suffer. I brought her here to watch her sing.” Wren will end up under medical treatment for her lungs, and once again, Kieran will be in charge of watching over her. When she returns to Caspian and is feeling better, she will write letters of gratitude, but that won’t be well accepted. Learning that the promises made were just empty words, she will snap and become hell-on-wheels angry and violent.
“They’d made an agreement, she’d held up her bargain—and it began to dawn on Wren that all the while, all those days, Alec had been right here. He’d probably marched right back to the pipeworks once she’d dragged him home and demanded a place. Caspian, Kieran, Toby—all of them had lied to her. Used her.”
The story is the second in a series, and the ending will segue into the next book. Wren has sold herself to protect Alec and Mikael, but in the process, she will discover more about herself too. Now she learns that everything she fought for was empty promises and lies. She may have lost Alec to Caspian, but maybe there is still hope for Mikael. We learn that Wren is a fierce Omega, one who will fight for what she believes in, literally and figuratively.
Broken Captive: A Reverse Harem Omegaverse Dark Romance (Wren's Song Book 3) HEAL, EARN THEIR TRUST, FLEE
The saga continues, and if anything, Wren is sinking deeper into depression. She keeps reminding herself, she is doing this for her boys—but can they be saved? Both Caspian and Toby have heavily marked her, claiming her as a mate, and Kieran acts like he resents her being there, telling her how much better other women are and what a failure she is.
“These men wanted to play house? Fine, she’d be their pretty mouse, their sunshine, their whore. She’d eat their food, drink their water, take their medicine and grow strong. Eyes glowing with intention, Wren met the muddy gaze of a very bad man.”
The Alphas expect her to nest but all she smells are other women and sees dirty bedding, and it will be a favorite from the pen who will inform them as an Omega she can’t nest properly. All clean bedding, she purrs as she builds a nest, but that will all change with a severe punishment inflicted upon Alec. She will snap, and so will Caspian—kicking her out into the Warrens. When her building collapses, the Alphas fear she is dead. Each of them handles it in their own way, and it isn’t easy. But did she die? Or is the little mouse going to live up to her name and tunnel out? But where would she go? She has nothing to lose and two boys to save.
The story isn’t over, and the ending of book three opens Pandora’s box

I brought her here to watch her sing.”
Wren will end up under medical treatment for her lungs, and once again, Kieran will be in charge of watching over her.
There are not enough words to describe how amazingly gifted this author is. This boxset is just one of the many examples. Each book, while dark, twisted, and often times disturbing is also so much more. It offers hope, strength, perseverance, and hope. It truly is light juxtaposed with dark. I have devoured everything that this author writes and this is most assuredly one of my favorites of everything that she has written.
Branded Captive (Wren's Song #1) Sweet Holy Titfire.
There is just something about this OmegaVerse that draws me in. If this was real life, I would be throat kicking a man who acted this way. However, it isn't real life and for that, I am thankful because if it was, I would miss out on some of the most titillating and tantalizing stories that leave me fanning myself and whispering to myself, "Let your freak flag fly!" I embrace this new addiction of mine. Anything, and I mean ANYTHING this author writes leaves me teetering on the abyss of "I shouldn't like this BUT I do" and it is for that reason that I will continue to drink that little potion and fall down the rabbit hole. I know she will push my boundaries and that is okay. She is a master wordsmith and creates a world and characters that are more than just make-believe even though in fact THEY are make-believe. Yet, while in the story the world becomes real. Instead of watching it on a box in my living room where images are projected, I get it in the form of a book and my mind is projecting the images. I see, feel, hear, and even taste everything as if I am the character.
This book was no different. I felt for Wren. Just like any Addison Cain heroine before her, she is not a weakling. She fights even if she knows in the long run that she cannot possibly win. The males in this story are just as distinct. Caspian, Kieran, and Toby all have specific roles. This is not an easy world. Somehow, they manage to make it work. I sense in the future that they are going to be knocked for a loop by what a little Wren can do to upturn their lives. They might have all the power, but it posits for how long?
This was a short story. It was the first part of what will be a trilogy. I didn't want it to end, yet, that is nothing new. I never want her words to end. I look forward to whatever comes next in her crazy mind. I am not meaning that in a disparaging way. In fact, it is a compliment because her kind of crazy fits nicely in my world and shows me that I am not alone.
Silent Captive (Wren's Song #2) 5 I really need to be committed Stars
No seriously, I either need to be committed or I need an intervention because apparently years of therapy trying to deal with a tumultuous childhood is NOT getting me any closer to discovering why I am drawn to some of the craziest stuff I have ever read. I am trying to come up with words that can describe my feelings on this book (or really anything this author writes) Gobsmacked. Nope. Astonished. Nope. Dumbfounded. Close. Flabbergasted. Closer. Titillated. Definitely. Yet, none of these words quite fit when it comes to this author when I try and put my feelings for what she does into words. This leaves me frustrated because when I was getting my literature degree the Thesaurus and increasing my vocabulary was essential to not sound repetitive. Yet, here I am unable to articulate my feelings in words. Instead, I just keep repeating my favorite phrase, "HOLY TITFIRE" as I am scratching my head wondering if I need to go in search of absolution from Father John Francis this week (Sidenote I am no longer Catholic, so that is troubling in itself) because only bad Bad BAD girls would derive such pleasure from a story like this.
This author takes the degrading and the obscene and makes them both enticing and delicious. Her Omegaverse and world building are truly sublime and transcend almost anything else that I have read. She truly is one of a kind. I really need to quit challenging myself by saying she cannot push me out of my comfort zone any more than she has because like the true sadist she is she does. I don't even think this author could color in the lines if she wanted. At this point, I am inclined to agree with her always pushing the envelope because by writing something like this it truly shows that she writes for what her soul cries and not the dictates of society. For her writing truly is in her blood.
This book, as intense (and disturbing) as it was just reiterated that she is the true Queen of Omegaverse. It continues the story of Wren, Caspian, Kieran, and Toby. Wren. Just give this beautiful girl the crown for the most loved female character from the Mad world of Ms. Cain. Hands down my favorite of all her females’ characters. Life hasn't been easy for her yet her spirit and fight perseveres. My heart ached for her, was touched by her grateful side, and then cheered for her as she fought against the injustices she was dealt with (in this book in particular). The men at one time or another would show a crack in their armor where I thought I might like them and then, as fast as a mouse scurrying away with cheese, those feelings would dissipate. Each of them has a hidden moment that showed they all had ulterior motives for their deception. I think I have an idea of where this will go in the future but knowing the mind of this madwoman (aka the author in case there was any confusion as to whom I am referring to) anything can (and most likely will) happen
In the interim, while I am waiting for the conclusion of this book to be released I am going to up my wine intake, embrace that I love the kinky depraved Omegaverse, and probably throw the finger at society (and seeking absolution in particular) and instead find out how much my one way ticket to hell is going to cost me. Good thing I like the heat.
Broken Captive (Wren’s Song #3)
All the Stars. ALL. OF. Them. Whenever I see new words from this author appear, I stop, as quick as I can, everything I am doing in order to consume these words. Today, I happened to be in my car waiting on my son as he was grabbing our pizza. I almost left him there. As it was, I sped(why is my autocorrect telling me this isn't a word... it is the past tense of speed but I digress) all the way home risking a speeding ticket because her words are that important.
After having made it home safely, I can say that the risk of getting a ticket and almost running over a pedestrian or two, was well worth it. This might be my favorite of the series yet. The story continues right where part two left off and it was intense. However, what stood out to me the most was that in this portion of the story, there is an added insight into the characters minds as they process the plethora of emotions, many of them foreign, that they are all experiencing. In the previous books, it was inferred what they were thinking or feeling and not given much depth. In this book that changed. They were not just acting on a primal urge (well they were in some ways) but there were legitimate emotions and thought processes also at play this time. This was much needed because it gave me, as the reader, a better idea of the dynamics behind each character. The author also expanded on her exemplary worldbuilding skills and gave me a deeper appreciation of the environment that these characters live in.
I liked watching each of the Alphas (Caspian, Toby, and Kieran) vacillate and grow in regard to the connection towards Wren. To my surprise, my appreciation toward Kieran grew tremendously. A few things come out in this story that made a few of the pieces fall into place. That being said, they all still have their moments where they need to be junk punched. Wren though, she just continues to ascend towards the pinnacle of being my favorite female character from this author. Her perseverance, strength, and unwavering ability to take the fractured and broken pieces (literally and figuratively) and meld them into something even stronger is inspiring. Her unwavering devotion to her kids, all of them, had me in awe. If only every "mother" loved unconditionally like that.
This author and her words are still my versions of the "drink me" potion from Alice in Wonderland. As long as she writes, any and all the words I will continue to fall down the rabbit hole for her. I cannot wait to see where this series goes next.

The story is a continuing tale, and if you don’t read book one, Branded Captive, you won’t understand the story.
He was going to do such things to her.”
Not only will Caspian use her, but he will also allow his men to have her too.

The story isn’t over, and the ending of book three opens Pandora’s box.
I really enjoyed the writing style in this book. It was very captivating, and I was very invested in the characters. The only con for me in this series is the trajectory of the storyline. I understand that this is a dark romance, but there's really little romance to no romance. There's lots and lots of sex (which was also very well written) but it lacked true connection between the characters and as you continue reading you realize that it is almost impossible for there to be any real connection between these people.
They don't know a single thing about her other than she loves her kids and will go to war for them. They don't even know her real name. She is robbed of a way to communicate because no one in their relationship can understand sign language. And the one who is interested keeps manipulating and misinterpreting her words purposely. She has no power in anything that goes on in this book. NONE.
I just don't get where this story is going. What is the point of it??
I love this series! Wow, these may be the epitome of the Omegaverse books. You'll be sucked into the story and shocked in the first few pages, and it only gets better and worse from there. These novellas are like a drug, instantly addictive, I read the entire series up to date within a day and can't wait to see what happens next. I'm torn between wanting several more books and hoping for a good end for the h. Ms. Cain's books keep getting better and better. I have no doubt that whatever comes next will blow reader's minds. More please!
I have read the first two books. I cannot purchase the second two. I have looked in all the places that I can purchase e books and they are not available. Hard to give an honest review when I can’t finish the story. Obviously since I want to buy the last two books I am intrigued with the story, just very disappointed that I can’t continue.
I'm just glad i didn't start reading this until the first volume of books was out because I'm not a fan of series where the books drip, drop, months in between with cliffhangers. especially since each "book" was pretty much a novella. although i wish i had waited until the rest of the books were out ... i'm guessing there'll be at least six books since Volume One had three books? and there are only four out now, with no indication of when the fifth will be out. UGH.
I prefer having the option to buy the whole series at once - is that so much to ask for? or maybe I just need to be more patient ... alas, that ship has sailed, so ... ugh.
anyway, I wasn't sure if I was going to like this, it was definitely on -- I venture: sometimes maybe even over -- the line in terms of being TOO much. like, I like dark books, but some of them are just glorifying violence against the heroine.
I guess I am choosing to believe that, ultimately, Cain managed to redeem the story ...
looking forward to the end of the series ... I'm going to try to wait until at least the fifth one is out, but I'll probably give in and just read the fourth and hope the cliffhanger isn't terrible ...
This is a phenomenal dark and twisted story that grabs your attention from the very beginning. The characters are awesome and take you on a wild adventure. This book does end in a cliffhanger.
This is a review of the first 3 books of the Wren's song series. I have separate reviews for each book. Book 1 Wow a great short read but it ends on a cliff hanger, although for me that just builds the excitement!!! Wren is a mute Omega in an Alpha and beta world. She gets the short end of the stick and is branded an thrown out on her own! I would like to say wren is a totally BA and strong Omega!!! The H is scarred, evil and a kingpin and a Alpha!wow what could be better??!!! This is a mfmm story but I don't think it's going to last long, he seams to perfer mf with wren.......I'll find out in the next book that I will definitely be preordering it or one clicking. Book 2 Wrens song book 2 was gritty, harsh and at times unforgiving!!!! if you're looking for your typical romance book look the other way. while this book may give you butterflies at times some elements may also show up in your nightmares.
Wren in my opinion is the strongest Omega Addison Cain has written about thus far. she takes so much from the alphas without missing a beat, and she's doing it for such unselfish reasons. she is silent and sweet but no one could ever call her meek. Wren literally goes to hell and back for her "boys" without saying a word!!!!!! freaking amazing!!!! but what happens when alphas push an omaga to far??
The alphas I don't even know what to say......from the first alpha to the third alpha they are all considerably f***** up and mental. now where they can be sweet, condescendingly so, they are all grit and completely diabolical!!! so where is there Redemption when will it come?
This book had me squirming in my seat while also wanting to cry and it's absolutely amazing!!! some lessons can actually be taken from the strong but silent Wren. Addison Cain never disappoints, it may hurt your feelings but you will not be disappointed in this book.
I started off in love, ended in Hate and I'm ready to love again!!!
Book 3 This entire series has broken me apart and on the third book I think I'm finally being put back together? at least in the last chapter or 2 I started being put back together. Wren......... she is amazing she's strong she is inspiring. if you've been reading since book one then you know that Wren has been through so many trials and tribulations with Caspian and his second and third alphas. she has taken everything thrown at her without saying a word and not just because she's mute. without trying to have a spoiler, we know the last book ended with her beating the s***out of Caspian, well in this book we get a little insight to how that fight went down. now what I wasn't expecting was for Caspian and Toby too bond to her as there mate. In this third installation we actually get to see a bit more from the alphas. Toby (3rd alpha) we already knew was sweet and deranged, he doesn't change we just see more of it. kieran ( 2nd alpha) has been more of a mystery so far, and this installation we get a very good look at his life before which gives us a better understanding of why he does what he does. it even seems as if he may love the little mouse (Wren) Caspian oh Caspian I don't think he'll ever learn. he's afraid to admit what he feels for Wren so instead he threatens and abuses. until he has it all taken from him then and only then do we truly see who the first Alpha is.
Addison Cain books always has Unforgiven Alphas in them, the when I first started this series I wasn't sure if I could connect to any of them or forgive them. it took to this book the third book for my heart to even start to pretend to soften towards the alphas. I would say I truly have a love-hate relationship with the Wrens song series and it's killing me, but i cant stop reading or waiting for the next book!!!! Addison I believe!!!!!!!!
these books are a must read!!!! they will break your heart and gut you then slowly put you back together again!!! I'm still in "book space" after reading them and can't wait to see what Addison dishes out next. my poor poor heart!!!
Branded Captive A new Omegaverse story by Addison Cain. It is set in a whole new world do don’t expect any familiar characters.
if you ask me what stood out for me in this book, then I would have to say: “fluids, lots and lots of fluids”.
I didn’t think is was very dark, but that might have to do with the setting of the story. The world Addison Cain created is dark, gritty of full of despair. Wren was a ray of light and hope though.
What I enjoyed most about the book is that the main character Wren can’t speak, so that means she communicates on a different level. And that also changes the way she and the Alpha’s interacted. It is much more on instinct and feelings.
Silent Captive
The second book in the series and you need to have read to first book, otherwise the story won’t make any sense.
The story continues straight after the first book ended with Wren being taken to Caspian kingdom. I felt this book was a lot darker then the first one. I really felt for Wren.
We get to see more of the three Alpha’s, we learn more about their characters and motives. There were some surprises in there. But I still don’t like any of them. So far they show no redeeming qualities and have no respect for Wren or any other female.
Wren is struggling to survive and does what she needs to do, but she is also conflicted about her feelings or how her body reacts to what is being done to her. I enjoyed seeing Wren getting more sure of herself and how to deal with these Alphas.
These characters are very really layered and complex.
Merged review:

Broken Captive
The third book in the series and you need to have read to first two books, otherwise the story won’t make any sense.
The story continues straight after the second book ended and it deals with the aftermath of Caspian and Toby claiming Wren.
At first glance it doesn’t seem that much is changed and the Alpha’s still don’t have any redeeming qualities, but there is a sliver of hope. And there is a scene in there that will make you yell at your ereader.
And I loved Kieran and Wren´s moment at her house with the children. It was a defining moment.
Where do I start with this one? Addison Cain was my intro to Omegaverse and now I can't get enough of it. Her other Omegaverse books are intense and dirty, but none of them are as filthy as this one is. It's filthy and got and wrong in every possible way it could be, but it's still so very right. So, so right.
Wren is an omega in a world where omegas aren't highly valued, even though all the Alphas want one. She can't speak, which already makes some people think that she's defective. Then, when the first Alpha who ever has her expects her to do things that she doesn't know about or even understand, let alone know how to do, and she fails, she gets branded as defective and thrown away.
After a few years, she's down with the dregs and has taken in children who have been thrown away too. As an omega, she has the instinct to create a family and protect them. When 2 of her boys go missing, she knows that she has to find them. That's when she comes to Caspian's attention.
Caspian is the biggest baddest Alpha where they are. He controls pretty much everything. When he sees Wren, he knows what she is and he knows what to do about it.
Caspian is... Well, I'm not entirely sure what to say about him. I hate him. I love him. I want him to die a fiery death of live forever, maybe. He's not a good man or a nice man, even deep down. He's a flaming ash-hole. Wren has had to have a huge helping of intestinal fortitude to go through what she has, and I think that she's going to need even more to get through everything that I think may be coming her way, which isn't going to be good for her, I think.
Silent Captive
Fuuuuuuuuuuu... I almost have no words for this. I mean... I don't even know. Addison Cain is the queen of stealing our souls and eating them for breakfast, but this one, wow. If I had any soul left, this would destroy it.
Poor Wren. It's not bad enough that she's sold herself to Caspian, Kieran, and Toby, so that she can keep her boys safe, but she was paraded through the Warrens to the pipeworks so that the Alphas can keep her close to hand.
OMFG, these guys. That's about all I can say.
Broken Captive
OMG! It's finally here! I've been needing this book since I finished the last book, and I need the next one now. Too bad it doesn't work that way. I really need a time machine so that I can get all of Addison Cain's books without having to wait for her to write them. But then, the instant gratification may kill me, so I guess I might as well wait.
Wren is recuperating from her rebellion, and Caspian didn't go easy on her. She hurts, all over. And now, she's dealing with all the effects that Caspian and Toby's actions caused. Of course, they don't seem to be hurting the guys any, it's all on her. Isn't that always the life of an Omega? Kieran, though, he still seems to hate her, so that's all normal.
There are so many changes. SO. MANY. It kept my head spinning with everything going on. I had to go back and reread a couple of times just because I wanted to make sure that I didn't miss anything, I was that excited. I just barreled right through the book.
I still think that Caspian should die in a lake of hellfire and lava. In fact, I think that even more than ever. I hate Toby slightly less than before. He's at least trying. The surprising thing to me is that I'm starting to like Kieran. I really didn't like him all that much in the first books because I thought he was a total ash-hole, but maybe he's less of one than I thought.
I can't wait for the next book to see what happens next.
Book 1: Branded Captive The story starts off with an intense scene, where Wren is thrown into the Warren's after failing to please the Alpha her father was trying to sell her too. She's marked as defective merchandise but we find her still there years later having made something of herself and having adopted at least two young boys. The Omega has stayed under the radar until her boys run off to work for Caspian, the Warrens kingpin of the Alphas. Wren shows that she is an amazing women bc she offers to trade her freedom to Caspian so the boys can go free. Caspian tells the pretty Wren I'm not sure what I think of Caspian yet or his two second in commands that he tells Wren he's sharing her with...the guys are all rough around the edges...but that is to be expected if they are living in the Warrens...outlaws or rejects... I feel in love with Wren...she hasn't let any of that life get her down yet....but Note that this story ends on a cliffhanger....but I'm dying to know more!!!! ❤❤❤
Book 2: Silent Captive So this is the second book in the series & you’ll need to read the books in order b/c one builds on the other. This book picks up right after the first one & we see our 3 very bad-boy Alpha’s again & I feel like the stories gets darker than the first installment. I don’t think I’d classify this as a love story as the men don’t necessarily see her as more than an omega to be used (although this seems to be prevalent in the society Wren original came from too). I’ve got to love Wren tho b/c she’s staying & enduring all this for the love her “children”…that takes a strong woman either way…I wonder if Caspian will ever be able to appreciate this quality in her.?. I’m kinda hoping that our @$$hole of Alphas eventual are able to redeem themselves in book 3 tho… I love omegaverse stories & I would love to see Wren find some kind of happy… Also, this is kind of a quick read, at just over 100 pages, but still loving the series! :)
Book 3: Broken Captive stayed up way to late reading this, but I've fallen in love with this series! This books starts off where the last book ended with an injured Wren. I love that she is so strong & is such a fighter (her boys got so lucky to have her in their life), even when everything/everyone just keeps trying to knock her down. Don't walk into this book thinking its a romance...Caspian (who initially was my favorite) has shown his darker side...so I'm not sure any of the 3 guys are winning any points. Yes, this installment is a bit short, BUT I'm already looking forward to the next book! :)
