A continuation into the life of Shirley Farris, her children and the rest of the characters of Riding through Shadows. There were colorful moments, as well as moment of reflection throughout the story. It was an enjoyable story.
This book is a sequel, I did not read the first book yet was able to follow along as it gave enough back story to allow that. Nice story, well written. Some of the character's monologues were drawn out, too long.
Yes, many interactions in this book are unrealistic. However, I love this book because of the message it carries: a message of hope, faith, patience, and happy endings. In difficult moments of your life this is the book you'd want to read as a Christian. It'll remind you that God has a plan and no matter how difficult the situation is, prayer and faith will keep you moving toward a brighter tomorrow. For me the key message is 'never give up' .
I liked the plot, and thought it was complex enough to be interesting. Some of the characters were a little hard to connect with though. Especially the kids -- their interaction was mostly unrealistic and definitely too "preachy".
Sharon Ewell Foster is one of the first Christian fiction writers I have ever read. I was surprised to read some of the avenues she took in her book. I was pleased with the outcome of the story too.
