This book is important to any who have not had success with conventional medicine. That includes my wife and I. Ever since a fall sustained almost eight years ago, we have yet to find an answer to her involuntary muscle movements. Cannabis research and experimentation offers at least hope where none is to be found conventionally. Both the Mayo Clinic and the Cleveland Clinic, as well as a host of other neurologists, sports injury therapists, psychiatrists, myofascial experts, massage therapists, acupuncturists, and of late a TCM practitioner have all failed to help my wife get better or even offer an answer to what it is that ails her. If her condition isn’t included in their particular realm of expertise she is quickly discounted and sent along on her way, and if it is, then the treatment is an expensive crap shoot at best. Thousands of dollars and disappointments have resulted in a personal study of the many uses of cannabis. My research has become an obsession, and the field is still short on info due to our country’s dismal behavior when it comes to this magnificent plant. This book is beneficial to the cannabis novice.

...calms the areas of the brain linked to anxiety, whereas, THC may increase activity of areas that trigger anxiety attacks...Oral administration of 300 mg per day of oral CBD improved quality of life measures in individuals with PD without psychiatric conditions or dementia...

Just last week I discovered Beta-caryophyllene (BCP) and purchased some from a company called Elevation Terpenes. Discovering and learning that terpenes and flavonoids determine more of what to expect from a certain strain of cannabis has been an eye opener. No longer is my focus on indica or sativa and the many hybrids promoted. Instead I research the terpenes found in each strain, and the effects and relief ro be expected when using them responsibly.

...Unlike other terpenes present in essential oils and cannabis (limonene, myrcene, alpha-pinene, linalool, etc.), BCP shares properties similar to cannabinoids, allowing it to trigger similar physiological responses in the ECS (endocannabinoid system). BCP modulates the ECS in a beneficial way that may decrease the incidence and severity of a number of lifestyle diseases...BCP may even contribute to the anticonvulsive and anti seizure properties of cannabis...

Recently I grew a self-flowering plant that was a 1/1 blend of THC and CBD. I am hoping that by using terpenes along with this 1/1 blend I will attain a cannabis entourage effect and my wife will benefit from it in some way. Until we find a cure or a name for what she has, experimentation is the best we can do. Books like this help all of us who are suffering and want a better life.

A very good guide to the ECS for the lay person. That being said, more detail would be useful for the scientifically minded. That isn't saying this isn't well researched/cited, but the pathways/interactions are more detailed in a couple of other books (this topic is getting trendy so most of the books on it are awful).
