Vengeance consumes her life. Love would risk it all.
Maddie Baker has spent years seeking vengeance against the abuser who destroyed her life. When her search leads her to a small town outside Atlanta, she learns of another missing teenager. Nothing will stand in the way of her mission, including a jackass of an ex-soldier who reawakens emotions best left to die.
Jack Quinn learned to recognize trouble in the Marines, and he sees it in Maddie the minute he lays eyes on the pretty, sexy bartender. Her secrets may be hidden deep, but secrets are his specialty, and peeling away her barriers only makes him want her more. He’ll do whatever it takes for her to trust him, with her body and her heart.
Staying hidden kept Maddie safe, but the search for justice brings her into the open and face-to-face with her treacherous past. Risking her life is one thing, but risking her heart is another. In both, she must trust Jack to lead her—and pray they both come out alive.

A dark and cruel past has had Maddie Baker on the run for over four years. A search for answers leads her right into the arms of the one man who has the potential to ruin her or save her.
I've read several Ella Sheridan books but this one just hit differently. Maddie was so strong. She had to be. It was either that or let the events of her past drown her in fear and heartache. As her road leads her closer to the answers, she seeks she comes face to face with Jack Quinn. A man unlike any other he refuses to let her do this on her own. How can she trust him when she doesn't even trust herself anymore? The choices she made all those years ago caused people to die. When most people would have shattered, Maddie kept going on her search for answers, but she doesn't have any answers when it comes to Jack.
As Maddie and Jack are constantly in one another's orbit there is no denying the connection they have. Will Maddie be able to let go of her past and work with Jack on finding the answers she seeks not only for those that still need saving but also for herself.
Jason Clarke people. If you have not listened to a Jason Clarke narration you are seriously missing out. His accents and the passion he puts into his narrations are unlike anything I have ever from any other narrator. I am always dragged into the story he is telling and when you have him and Stella Hunter you know that narration is going to be nothing short of spectacular. The fire that Stella put into Maddie was just perfection to the character that she was portraying, and I was entranced from start to finish.
If you are a fan of romantic suspense with all the feels, then you really need to check out Ella Sheridan. She tells a story in a way that is so unique to any other author I have read before.
**Audio Review** Yes, Wildcat! Trust Me by Ella Sheridan was a thrilling, suspenseful romance! I am loving Ella’s Southern Night series because she always adds the right touch of danger and the perfect amount of steam to her romances. Maddie and Jack’s story gripped me right from the start and had my heart willing for them to battle the past for a brand new future together.
Stella Hunter and Jason Clarke narrate this audio in duet, and both are amazing voicing the main characters along with several minor characters! With Stella and Jason, I never have to wonder who is speaking because both are so talented with the different dialects and registers in their voices. Stella conveys Maddie’s frightened, vulnerable, and passionate sides perfectly making the listener feel all her emotions. Jason portrays Jack’s protective, dominant, and loyal persona that will make your heart swoon. (and maybe want your very own protector)
Overall, I enjoyed this audiobook! If you are a fan of a suspenseful romance with a hot hunky former Maine protector, a brave determined heroine, bar scuffles, secrets, a woman on the run in hiding, a private security company, chilling danger, explosively HOT steamy times, finding comfort in another, breaking down barriers, a gripping intense climax, and a HEA that will have you putting all your trust in the one you love, then you will love Maddie and Jack’s heart-stopping story. I always look forward to more from Ella Sheridan.
Maddie is on the run from an abuser in this book. She is also on a mission to find a missing girl. These may seem live very random things to be tied together, but they are so intricately woven together, after a while you forget they are not the same thing.
Jack is co-owner of a security company, and also the resident hacker and collector of knowledge for the team. When he discovers Maddie’s background check looks a little too perfect, he knows he has to know everything about his “Wild Cat”.
Jack, what can I say besides, holy crap on a cracker, he may almost be the perfect man. He means what he says, he keeps his promises, and he is an expert in the bedroom!
I fell in love with the idea of these two almost right off the bat, even before they thought about getting together. If anyone deserves this, it would be them. The need to protect, the fierce love, and the way they play off each other makes them the perfect fit. I hope there will be more to this series! There are so many men in the books I would love to see get their own HEA! ~ Devlynn, 4.5 stars
I really enjoyed Teach Me so Trust Me was an anticipated read and it did not disappoint. Not one bit. In fact, the series is going from great to brilliant.
LOVED Jack and Maddie, loved the intrigue surrounding Maggie, how tough she was, how focused on good winning over bad, putting herself out there for those girls. Jack - wait while I swoon .... such a protective alpha male with patience, understanding, encouragement and not one single beat of his chest.
I loved the strong suspense line running through, and also the catch up with Con and Jess.
Trust Me by Ella Sheridan is a treasure of a story. I was captivated from the get-go. The story begins with Jack having a drink at his favorite hang-out. The bar is homey and comfortable and he has developed a relationship with the bar owner and the employees that work there. The bar has a new bar tender, Maddie. Jack is intrigued by the little spitfire from the moment his eyes meet her body…. Ooops, I mean from the moment his eyes meet hers. As events unfold and the story progresses, we find that Maddie is dealing with some serious issues. She’s strong, tough and courageous… and Jack is drawn to her like a moth to a flame. He’s a protector by nature, and as co-owner of a private investigation service, he’s got a sharp eye and a quick mind. He’s putting two and two together and he’s figured out that Maddie needs help. But he’s going to have to convince her, because she’s not looking for help. And convince her he does. This is where my emotions go on a roller-coaster ride. Maddie has a fragile side, but she does not let it show; she’s put her game face on and she’s moving forward with her life and her commitment to make right that which is wrong. She is my favorite type of heroine in any story, strong willed, determined and first to step up to help someone who is in need. She keeps her vulnerabilities tucked deep inside, deals with insecurities and stress away from prying eyes. She needs a special type of man; one who will appreciate her strengths and who will help her the best by helping her stand on her own two feet. One who can offer a shoulder of support but make her think she is really helping herself. One who isn’t afraid to just grab her and hold onto her until she calms down in the heat of the moment. A man who gives as good as she gives. That’s the kind of man Jack is… he’s truly one of a kind… I fell a lot in love with Jack – he is the perfect protector and emotional tower that Maddie needs in her life. They need each other, they blend perfectly, Maddie is spirited and quick to rebuff Jack’s (at first unwanted) attention. He proves himself to Maddie, she begins to trust him and his word and things just sort of fall into place after that. This story is an amazing journey… I give it a 100+ stars. Every once in awhile you find a story that becomes your favorite go to book to read again and again. For me it will be this book. It grabbed my heart and punched me in the gut, I sat up and took notice; it was like I was falling in love, not watching Maddie do it. I am anxious to start reading it the first book of this series; the characters all know each other and I love these kinds of series that connect to each other.

Trust Me is the second book in the Southern Nights series. I was lucky enough to be able to review Teach Me the first book in the series and I have been on pins and needles waiting for this book to come out.
Trust Me brings back Jack who we met in Teach Me and is Conlan’s business partner and best friend. The two men grew up together and then enlisted and served in the Marines together. It was only natural that they formed JCL Security when their commitment to the Marines was up.
This book was very easy to pick up the story line. Even though it is part of a series it is not necessary to read the first book, but you would miss out on the back story of Jess and Conlan and all of trials and triumph they had to go through to get their happy ending.
Trust Me is very well written and an amazing story line. Throughout the story we follow Jack who has eyes for the new bartender in town Maddie. The novel is told from the joint point of view of both of the main characters. This is one of the more volatile relationships that I have seen in awhile, but that is what you get when you have two very strong willed and outspoken characters in the lead rolls of a story. The ups and downs and twists and turns that we experience between the two are amazing and just make the story that much stronger.
I am usually really good with being able to tell who the accomplice is in the story but I was thrown for a loop with this one. I literally did not see it coming. That is all you will get from me on that front as I don’t want to spoil it for anyone
I have to say that as much as I love the book I was yelling at my kindle in hopes that Maddie would hear me and smarten the heck up. I think that is just another sign of how good them book is though when you are that engrossed in the story that you want to reach out and shake the characters. 🙂
Favorite Quote: “You’re always worried about to soon, you jackass. Who cares about too soon? Worry about what you want instead.”
And dnf again, this series is definitely not for me I can't figure out why though...maybe the topics are too heavy, or I don't connect with the main characters? Anyway, I am dropping this serie, let's hope the next book I read rates higher!
Trust Me – Southern Nights Book 2- Witten by Ella Sheridan
Narrated by Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter
Trigger Warnings* Sexual Abuse(Rape while in a marriage ) Extreme Violence , Sex Trafficking and Slavery. Overall rating 4.8
Review
Maddie Baker/ aka Madalyn Grace who is running from her past , hiding in plain sight in a small town bartending while being somewhat a vigilante/ protector of women in her own right . This spit fire is one “Wildcat”with a lot of fight in her . She wears a mask to those that see her but underneath, she suffers from abuse , fear and those acts of violence that has destroyed her life. Her life with the devil himself her husband David Reed . The entitled prick of a man, in his thousand dollar suits, trimmed to perfection hair and expensive shoes . To those on the outside he is a prestigious lawyer , who buys and sells human beings from his Antebellum style Nashville estate. David and his men perform acts of violence known as “training “ sessions. His main goal is thriving on absolute control , pain, sexual abuse, trafficking and extreme torture ( THIS IS HARD NO FOR ME ). I will not go into additional detail but this is important to understand how deep Maddie’s fear. I am not going to lie I wanted to give up on this book when I learned of these things, but I am a huge fan of Ella’s previous novels so I needed push through and I am glad I did. ( I took several breaks but it was well worth it ) .
Jack Quinn former Marine security specialist, now partner of JCL security . He has a set of unique skills, which include digging deep in a person’s background and tracking people who have disappeared . He meets Maddie at the local bar he frequents and is instantly attracted to her. Something in her reaches his core ,which enables his need to have her, protect her. Jack is no saint , and does not have any issues when it comes to women but he only has eyes for HER. Something behind her eyes gave away that she is hiding something. He does whatever it takes at attempting common ground with Maddie to get her to trust him . The chemistry is off the charts , and we get a lot 🔥🔥🔥 between those two. Jack surrounds himself with Maddie and the more he pulls the more he unknowingly puts her in the direct line of danger .
David , the estranged husband has gotten wind of Maddie’s whereabouts, as she has been missing for years .He is well aware of the things she knows , other men that are associated with the traffic ring . David has to tie up those loose ends as he comes face to face with Jack and OH MY DAMN , it goes down . The story is on fire ,with eagerness to find out the endgame . I was literally on edge , you will not be disappointed . It is safe to say I recommend this audiobook.
Ella Sheridan wrote one slow and steady suspenseful novel and I mean this in most the positive way . Narrators Jason “ The Dark Knight “ Clarke along side the “Queen of Audio “ Stella Hunter brought Maddie and Jack to life in aural land . This audiobook was like a movie playing out in my ears . If you like this one , I do recommend other titles by Ella Sheridan . Enjoy 😉

Trust Me Southern Nights, Book 2 By: Ella Sheridan Narrated by: Stella Hunter, Jason Clarke
Just in time to be enjoyed on a holiday weekend, I am treated the Ella Sheridan's incredible romantic suspense, Trust Me, book 2 of her Southern Nights series. This woman knows how to grab my attention, create amazing heroes, strong heroines and deliver an engaging story with a romantic thread. What more can I ask for? Maddie is on the run from her abusive husband. Finding a job as a bartender, she hears of a missing teen and now is on a mission to find him. Jack knows people. He sees the beautiful Maddie, and while she knows her way around the bar, he can tell she has some secrets. And no matter how deep, he is going to get them out of her. And we are off. Jack and Maddie have incredible chemistry, and I love his perseverance in trying to dig out her secrets. Maddie is broken and her past is gruesome. Her drive to complete her mission kept me on edge, and her growing feelings for Jack had my heart soaring. Sheridan delves into some dark themes in this story with relevant issues. It's got a creepy, scary factor that made me want to know more. It's gritty, and real make the listen that much more incredible. This is an amazing story and great addition to this series.
The choice of narrators for these characters are like Sheridan wrote the story with them in mind. Jason Clarke plays Jack with his alpha, military tendencies and romantic edge. He also gives us the evil characters with such ease, it shows just how versatile of a performer he is. Melding in with Clarke is the talents of Stella Hunter. As Maddie, she gives us a mixture of strength and fear that is so realistic, it's like she really has lived this. This duet narration is one of my favorites and needs to be a one click for anyone who enjoys romantic suspense!
Trust Me, by Ella Sheridan, is book #2 in her Southern Nights series. I have not listened to the first book in the series and I don't feel like I missed any super important information.
Jack is ex-military and now runs a security firm. Maddie walks into a bar and beats up a drunk patron and Jack falls in love. LOL! Seriously though, Jack is intrigued after watching Maddie stand up to a drunk person. He starts talking to Maddie and knows she's hiding something. The more he finds out about her, the more he wants to protect her and show her that he is worth trusting. Maddie has been on the run for 4 years from her abusive husband. She's trying to get evidence to prove her crazy husband is committing crimes. Once she opens up to Jack, that work together to bring the husband down.
There were parts of the story that moved slow and I found myself having to rewind and re-listen. I also thought Jack came on way too strong sometimes. Even after he found out about Maddie's trauma, he had a hard time accepting no for an answer. I did not like that at all.
Jack is sexy, confident, badass, ex-military man and he was perfectly performed by Jason Clarke. JC can do sexy and rugged so easily and I really felt like he brought Jack to life. Maddie has been through great trauma in her marriage that includes *Trigger* sexual assault, domestic violence and imprisonment. Stella Hunter narrated Maddie and she performed her with the right amount of sensitivity, meekness and emotion. Performed together in duet, Jason and Stella were great together!
Overall, I did like the book and would like to listen to book 1 next. I've already listened to the 3rd book and that one is HOT!
I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request, and I voluntarily provided this review.
This series has all of the elements that I love. Suspenseful moments, with a woman who knows how to look after herself and secretive, yet full of spunk and caring. Plus heroic, alpha men who make it a priority to help others. Action packed yet with steamy romance too!
In this book Maddie is what every female wants to be. Stella Hunter shows us how strong, caring, independent and loving she really is. Jason Clarke was perfect as Jack! A fierce alpha caring man who is also demanding, tenacious and one who doesn’t give up! Both of these voice actors are so talented and have such a range of accents that it’s like hearing a well played out play acting out in your ears, each character so distinct and with accents that keep me infatuated.
Sheridan is amazing at writing books that deal with serious topics head on but does it with compassion and caring rolled into her books. The storyline is so well written that this book glows flawlessly and takes my mind and heart on a roller coaster ride throughout the story. With elements that are scary and a premise of such evil within the society that holds no value to humanity. My heart really went out to all the victims of the situation.
This series has been fabulous and I can’t wait to hear Gabe’s story next!
Not as good as the first. I wasn’t a big fan of Jack in the beginning. His forced touches were a bit too much. Too many times he wouldn’t take no for an answer. If it had been him just pursuing her that’s be one thing, but he was constantly grabbing her. Even after he knows she’s been raped and abused. Didn’t sit well with me. When another bar regular doggedly pursues her he’s labeled a scummy guy, but really they acted the same. H was only likeable in the beginning because he was the H so you knew he was a good guy. Maddie was ok, but I didn’t quite understand her “mission”. She’d traveled from Nashville to Texas to Seattle doing I’m not sure exactly, but somehow she read all the newspapers from all over the United States and all the missing persons files from all over the United States and figured out this girl from a small town outside of Atlanta, who police listed as a runaway, was in fact not a runaway but had instead been taken by her husbands partner… I’m just not sure how she was able to deduce that. Then she single handedly rescues a waitress, who was unable to take care of herself, and never mind that there was a bouncer and another huge bartender who could have taken care of it, thereby solidifying her badassness, um yeah whatever. So the story was okay but a bit far fetched and I was a big fan of the MCs. Not sure I’ll read Gabe’s story.
Wildcat indeed! If you thought Take Me was hot, grab an iced cold drink and hydrate before listening to Trust Me! I am absolutely loving the Southern Nights series. Once again, Ella Sheridan masterfully blends suspense, action, humor, and romance.
I fell in love with Jack and Maddie from the get go. Maddie is a warrior and an unapologetically sassy spitfire to Jack's brooding, calm, still waters run deep personality. Even though Maddie fights the instant attraction because of the deep wounds and scars she carries, Jack's patience and understanding slowly allow her to feel empowered and take back control over her sexuality. Jack is the epitome of consent being SEXY!!!
Stella Hunter and Jason Clarke were THE perfect choices to bring Jack and Maddie to life. I completely broke down and bawled during Stella's performance of Maddie telling her story and the horrors she endured. There were several other times she had me crying and my heart breaking for Maddie. Jason was no less emotionally charged and brilliant as Jack and had me tearing up. Hell yeah, the steam was off the charts as usual. But, I also truly appreciate the stunning range and talent these actors have and why I have become an audiobook junkie. ❤️
I hadn’t read the first book in the Southern Nights series, but I didn’t really feel like I needed to read it first. This book was SOOO amazing! So many harsh things that had happened in Maddies past. She was married to a man who had a TOTALLY DIFFERENT side to him which was utterly evil. He made her do things she didn’t want to do and was running a tracking ring for women. His family literally never got over the fact that the Civil War ever happened. SMH. So she flees, changes her appearance and name, and starts working to find other women that he may have taken. She is not outside of Atlanta working at a bar when she meets Jack who co-owns a private security firm. He finds her utterly fascinating, but quickly figures out who she is and what she is doing which just happens to coincide with what he is working on. So not only do they start working together to take down the criminal but they find a little time to start a relationship themselves – and those scenes are absolutely delicious.
The narrators were fantastic – I absolutely love Stella Hunter and Jason Clarke.
Ella Sheridan knows how to write twisty romantic suspense! Trust Me, the second book in her Southern Nights series, is about a woman in hiding, while also trying to save innocents from the torture she’d endured, and a man captivated by her spirit and strength. No matter how many walls Maddie throws up to keep Jack out, his gentle yet determined insistence wears her down. The way Jack helps her push through her trauma with compassion and kindness is so endearing.
Once they realize they’re trying to save the same innocent girl and who they’re facing to do it, will they be able to rescue her in time? And what will it cost them in the end?
Stella Hunter and Jason Clarke give amazing performances! Stella didn’t hold back on Maddie’s independent streak or her vulnerabilities and fears. Jason gave us Jack’s stoic, protective warrior side along with the tender empathy Maddie needed. Not to mention the persona Jason uses for the villain…I still have chills!
I’m looking forward to more of this series and from Ella!
Ella Sheridan doesn't shy away from hard to read topics and Trust Me is no exception! As hard as these topics are for most people I personally love them because a great author ( like Ella) will hook the reader into feeling completely vested in the the story and the hero and heroine taking down the bad guys!
This is book 2 in the Southern Nights series and each book can be read as a standalone. I've also read a few others in this book universe and was absolutely able to follow the storyline even though I read out of order.
Maddie and Jack are forced together to join forces to take down a nasty group of men. She's their best shot to shutting down this human trafficking ring.
Narrated by the power duo, Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter. Stella conveys so much emotion with her voice I felt like I was there and part of the story. Jason in this protector mode is nothing short of delicious! His voice is the only voice I want to hear in this type of character!
Real strength comes from learning how to trust again...
i thought nothing could get better than the first book Teach Me in this series. I was so wrong. Trust Me has an alpha hero, gorgeous Jack Quinn crossing paths with Maddie Baker. She is hiding out from an abusive relationship. She is also trying to find a missing teen and she will stop at nothing to find her. Even Jackass Quinn. Jack is intrigued with Maddie and knows she is not telling him the truth about who she is. He is determined to find out and he will, that is his speciality.
Their story is full of suspense and tension. It will have you racing to the end of the book to see what happens next. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Jack was a patient caring man when it came to Maddie. He knew what she had gone through and he did everything possible to have her trust him. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
Trust Me is book 2 and standalone in the Southern Nights series. I’m a new fan of Ella Sheridan. Her attention to detail helps imagine the story in your mind, and the suspense keeps you at the edge of your seat. The spice is HAWT. I received an ALC in return for an honest review.
Jack has potential to be a new book boyfriend. Under that gruff exterior, there’s a softer side he shows Maddie. Protective and patient. Add Jason Clarke’s gravelly tone, and he’s *chef’s kiss*. He’s so good at voicing the villain character as well.
Maddie is a strong heroine who keeps her guard up. With the help from Jack, she learns to trust and fight the demons from her past. Stella Hunter is fantastic at showcasing Maddie’s strength and vulnerable sides.
If you enjoy strong heroines taking a stand, and a sexy hero who knows how to take care of his lady in and out of the bedroom, this is the book for you!
This is book 2 in the Southern Nights series, fyi, I haven’t read book 1 and it didn’t impact on this story whatsoever, this can totally be read as a standalone. Maddie Baker is on the run from an abusive past while also trying to find a missing girl - not the first young girl that’s gone missing. The truth is, she may have to face her worst fears to find the justice she’s looking for. First though she has to learn to trust again. Starting with Jack Quinn, the too good to be true ex Marine, but years of abuse make it difficult for her, and taking that next step may be too much. Jack though is quick to cotton on, and maybe he has the right moves to help crumble those walls that Maddie’s erected. A great story, full of suspense, a little action, and a whole lot of sexy time. All brought to life by Jason Clarke’s top notch narrating, helped along by Stella Hunter. A highly entertaining audio, be warned though, although it’s a romance, it’s not all sunshine and roses.
Romantic suspense is my jam and Ella does it so perfectly! I loved everything about this book! The smooth writing style, the suspense (duh!) and the narration! Trust Me is book 2 of the Southern Nights series. Ella just ropes you in within the first two chapters. She has this amazing ability to rock strong FMC and all the sexy growling MMC.
This story follows Maddie and Jack - While they have a connection that is almost instalust Maddie finds she doesnt have time for the playful brood. Maddie cannot break focus; she needs to stay on track to complete her mission. Jack however, has all the time for Maddie - is it due to their connection or is Maddie Jacks mission?
Pairing Stella and Jason together is almost a must have these days #Starke. Stella hits every little piece of strength Maddie has while Jason gives Jack all the playful growling needed to make this book perfect.
This is a book that normally might not be on my radar BUT once I saw who was narrating it I jumped at the chance to read it. I am SO glad I did. This book kept me on the engaged the entire time and I loved it.
I loved getting to know Maddie. Her strength and determination were admirable and Stella Hunter brought her A game in her portrayal of her. Maddie is fierce and complex and an all around great character to get to know more.
Jack....well, I'm just going to swoon over here not so quietly. Jason Clarke is my favorite narrator and he was incredible in this role! Jack is fierce, protective and most of all understanding. You'd be hard pressed to find a woman who wouldn't love him!
This book was definitely engaging. It had a great balance of romance and suspense. I absolutely loved it and will be reading more from this author!
I really enjoyed this audiobook. Seriously, you can't go wrong with Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter narrating in duet. These two are the perfect pairing. Jason is so amazing with the voices he can portray, sometimes it's a little unsettling.
Maddie is on the run but from what Jack has no idea. He is determined to find out at any cost necessary. But he is drawn to Maddie even though she is keeping herself truly locked away. She can't let her real self out for fear of being discovered. Once she realizes that Jack will do anything and everything to keep her safe, she can let down her guard a little bit.
But of course as soon as that happens, danger rears it's ugly head. Finally all secrets are revealed but Jack & Maddie will work together with his team to save everyone.
I love that these stories are the perfect mix of romance and suspense.
## I didn't really care for this book. ** SPOILERS: ** The heroine comes with so much baggage (gang raped by her husband and his partner), and she was repeatedly tortured by her husband. This hero kept pushing himself on her, even after she'd say NO repeatedly. He would just hold her down until she got too tired to fight back. Say what? A woman who was sexually abused for years falls in love with a guy that holds her down and says : shhh, you'll get used to me. Uh, no. Too rapey for me. I added a second star because it started out great. I thought this would be a fun read. I love that the heroine was beautiful, and so great that she rode a motorcycle. But then everything went down hill. I won't be buying the others in the series.
~*~ Audio Review ~*~ An emotional, thrilling romantic suspense full of secrets and strength. From the moment we met Maddie I knew she was strong and she had been though some trauma and I love that despite all that she still found the strength to go after her abuser. I love how Jack was there to help her cope and trust him with everything that she had been through. Ella always brings the heart pounding action and will tug on your heartstrings.
Stella Hunter and Jason Clarke narrate this book in duet and they are one of my favorite duos. I was captivated by their performances and they did an incredible job of bringing out the strengths and vulnerabilities of Maddie and Jack. Another great read/listen from Ella.
This book destroyed me. It made me smile, it made me aww, it made me cry.
I cried at the parts where Jack struggled to help Maddie with her trauma and panic attacks. It made me yearn to feel as safe as she did with someone who would hold me and be there for me unconditionally.
At one point, I had to pause for a day or two because the feelings were too overwhelming.
The last chapter was perfection. The love that Jack had for Maddie was portrayed in such a realistic way and the descriptions of how beautiful she was to him were simple and believable. What a great way to end a book.
As a Book 2 in a series, I’ll have to say that I felt this one more than I did Book 1. I’ll have to take a break from feeling so much before continuing on to Gabe’s story.
This book was hard to read but beautiful all the same.
Some of the scenes in this book may be really hard for some to read...I know a few brought back some memories I'd forgotten. But it was written well and the bad guys...no evil, sadistic pricks, got just what they deserved.
Jack...what is there not to like about Jack...he's sensitive, loving, patient, strong, and sexy as hell. The care he took with Maddie reintroducing her to love and passion...swoon worthy to the max.
I have really enjoyed both of the first two books on this series and will prolly read the next...about Gabe and his twin...grrr baby...double trouble with a capital...sexy T...I'm just sayin...
Jack & Maddie ❗️Trauma-based Triggers Violence Sexual abuse Human trafficking
Man I really struggled with this and didn’t finish. After coming straight off “Teach Me”, this one was such hard work and I’m really disappointed. I wasn’t expecting the female to be SO difficult - and while I understand the reasons behind it all, I wouldn’t have read it right now cos I’m just after a panty-melter. I picked up another drive-thru romance in the meantime while I got thru this, but in the end I just had to walk away.
Jack is H🔥T D💥MN, but Maddie annoyed the crap out of me. Def won’t read again, a real shame🤷🏽♀️.
This is the 2nd book I've read of Ella,. She's reminding me why why I used to like to read suspense it had been a while since I really done any of it but this is the 2nd time I've dug into one of her books and I have loved it. It is very intriguing you can't stop reading because you want to know what is going to happen there's so much mystery about what is happening. I was 3/4 of the way through and I was thinking oh my gosh how can this be happening now. Like I said great suspense I will say anyone who reads this needs to be aware that it might have triggers for them. I would read the synopsis 1st. All in all a great page Turner.
