There IS a path to learn how to be one of those "normal" eaters--and this book explains how to get there. Jenn Hand, who has inspired thousands of women through her blog and podcast, outlines how to overcome binge eating, how to find freedom from dieting, and how to, finally, make peace with food. With practical and actionable steps, she offers personal stories, simple strategies, and reassuring words to help you end the diet-binge cycle forever.
Jenn Hand is a food & body image coach, creator of the Normal Eaters Club, and founder of www.jennhand.com. She helps women transform their relationship with food, let go of dieting and emotional eating, and become one of those “normal eaters”!
There is no science in this book. There are also no stories of other people who have also followed this advice. This is the same one story of the author (who has no qualifications) over and over and over again and how when she just started eating what she wanted she stopped binging. Ok? Super unhelpful but thanks. This is all information I've read for free on the internet before. It's just intuitive eating.
It was also pretty weird how she kept called the reader a woman, even going so far as to call the reader's soul female (?!?!). Haven't you ever seen My 600 Pound Life? Obviously binge eating is not a uniquely female problem. Ah yes, the feminine urge to eat my weight in cereal at 10pm.
In short, this is boring and unhelpful and you shouldn't buy it.
This book is great for anyone who has struggled with yo-yo dieting or the diet/binge circle. Jenn shares insight into her personal struggles with eating and then offers advice and tips for conquering the dieting battle. Each chapter is specific and brief which makes it easily digestible, with a prompt at the end to dive deeper and do your own work. This book is full of compassion, wisdom, and gentle reminders. it is a wonderful guide to helping individuals build a healthy relationship with eating. As a Therapist, I am very excited to share this book with clients and am thrilled that this book exists.
A clear, straightforward and compassionate approach to getting off the diet treadmill. This is a journey that Jenn Hand has herself followed and the book is full of her own experiences which give a comforting feeling to the reader that she is not alone with the emotions and struggles that can come from disordered eating - which is what weight loss dieting has become. This book does not recommend a free-for-all approach to eating, rather it empowers women to return to the healthy attitude towards food with which we were all born.
