When she takes the plunge to investigate, what she finds is a whole other world desperate for her allegiance and hers alone. A Complex and Compelling Tale

Nightwalker: Wish and Mercy is a complex and compelling tale that takes the reader on many twists and turns. As a debut novel, it is amazing!

Wish and Mercy is set in a world full of magick and wondrous creatures, ranging from various greenkind (like trolls and orcs) to Faeries, Vampires, and even a Gorgon! But despite the fact that the story is full of forbidden magick and complicated politics, it is in the creation of the compelling human drama that takes place within and amongst the eight Hallenar siblings where Gala truly shines as an author.

There is nothing simple or easy within any family with eight siblings, but the author Gala takes the Hallenar family drama to new heights that is loads of fun to read about. There are secrets within secrets, forbidden magick galore, and a pair of siblings whose love for each drives each of them crazy at times...

This book is well worth the read—you will never look at sibling rivalry the same afterwards—so pick it up and dive right in!

Please note that the book does deal with some rather adult material and is not recommended for those who are not mature enough to handle it!

Medieval Fantasy meets the Addams family explained by Sigmund Freud

Have you seen the Addams family? If a psychologist would try to analyze them, he/she would get the Hallenars of A.J. Gala. Yeah, they are THAT mess up. But I should start at the beginning. Nightwalker: Wish and Mercy is a medieval fantasy vampire story that spins around the Hallenar family. Although the book starts focusing on Tizzy and Aleth Hallenar, that changes as you advance in the story. Hinting that the series will not focus on a sole pair of siblings but in all of them.

The book is dark, mysterious and intense. Full of intrigue, action, drama and taboo themes like incest and physical abuse. I don't recommend this book if you're sensitive or don't like to be faced with the ugly side of humanity. Because that's exactly what's portrayed here, the ugly side of humanity. On my part I absolutely adored each dark page of this masterpiece! But I'm used to reading dark fantasy so I would love it no matter how dark and twisted it got.

The characters were expertly made, portraying a variety of sides that let you see how they evolve with each new problem thrown at them; or maybe those were their true personalities which they simply tried to deny. The plot has more knots and twists than my hair in the mornings, making you read more and more in search for answers. In fact I warn you that this book ends in a cliffhanger so I recommend having the second in hand to avoid going crazy 😂. Finally, the sex scenes are beautifully done, mixing an almost poetic narration with medium explicit descriptions. That narrarive style makes the sexy scenes even more beautiful.

This book is the first in getting my LAG Badge (laugh-angry-cry) in 2021. I can proudly say A.J. Gala evoked all those feelings in me with her amazing storytelling.

Night Walker: Wish and Mercy has everything. It has vampires, Gorgons, Faires, and green-like trolls. They all live in this exciting complex and amazing universe where magic is forbidden and problematic politics are in session. In this universe, we follow the drama of the Hallenar family. This family consists of eight siblings two of these eight siblings, Tizzy and Aleth. Both have secrets they are keeping from the family and each other. I was surprised when I read this is the author’s first book. The writing is so mature you'd think it was written by a seasoned writer. lol. It is well-written with an intricate, and intriguing plotline. The characters are well rounded and the world she created was rich and alive. I loved this book and I look forward to seeing more by this author. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and HIDDEN GEMS. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Great book overall. It kept me interested the whole time and has a great story with some unsuspecting twists. Easily one of the best books I have read in a while.

This is a strong debut for author AJ Gala. The narrative bends through twists and turns, unapologetically leading you through an adventure you won't be able to forget! For the sake of honesty, I'm giving 4 stars. There are some issues with how the author handled the omniscient viewpoint, but only someone like me (a developmental editor who spends day in and day out evaluating narrative) will notice. I believe this author is headed onwards and upwards, and if this novel is any indication of her talent, I want to make sure I'm going to be there for the ride! I am very excited for her upcoming projects!

The world, the characters, the plot...everything in this book is incredibly well-developed. I love how the author presented several characters by flaw first, then over the course of the novel has you falling in love with them as you learn more about their past, their struggles, and mysteries revealed which shine new light on matters. At first focused on human affairs, the audience is gradually introduced to more magic and more species. All their interactions are interesting as is the author's take on different creatures, such as the vampire-esque 'Nightwalkers.'

This story is fast-paced and fascinating. A wonderful adult fantasy. I found myself rooting for the characters, even in questionable circumstances, because I truly cared about them and their motivations. Twists abound, and I can't wait for the sequel. I don't know when I'll stop raving to my friends about this book. We are going to see great things from Gala.

✨🖤 Dark, Twisted, and Utterly Addictive 🖤✨

Imagine the Addams Family drama mixed with medieval fantasy, then add in vampires, forbidden magic, and a family so dysfunctional it could keep therapists busy for centuries. That’s Nightwalker~ Wish and Mercy in a nutshell! 🩸✨

This book is a rollercoaster of dark secrets, sibling chaos, and jaw dropping twists. Tizzy Hallenar is a fierce FMC, caught between loyalty to her estranged brother (hello, long-lost sibling reunion vibes 👀) and the lure of unimaginable power from the enemy (temptation trope unlocked 🖤). And Aleth? Let’s just say, he’s the kind of character you’ll love, hate, and scream at all at onceeee.

Tropes that gave me life:
Siblings with complicated (and I mean complicated) dynamics 😳
Morally grey characters who make you question everything 😈
Forbidden power and impossible choices 🔥⚖️
Twists so good they’ll make your head spin 🌀
Slow-burn, beautifully written spice 🖋️💋

The Hallenar family drama is totes next level. Think Game of Thrones, but with more emotional chaos, secret betrayals, and some seriously taboo themes. (Warning: This book does NOT shy away from the dark, so be ready for an emotional punch 🥊).

If you love dark fantasy with rich world-building, vampires, faeries, and magic, plus a story that explores the raw, ugly sides of humanity, you NEED this book. But fair warning: it ends on a cliffhanger that’ll leave you begging for the sequel. 😱

Final thoughts: If you like your fantasy dark, your characters morally grey, and your stories deliciously messy, Nightwalker: Wish and Mercy is the perfect next read. Grab your emotional support beverage you’re gonna need it. 🖤📖

Really weird, theme of incest

At first I was really drawn into this world. It was very interesting, until the brother and sister duo are revealed to have unnatural desire for one another.

I wasted my time, don't waste yours. Very gross.

This Book is perfect for those that like Dark Fantasy,Magic, and a unique world building and diverse cast of characters.

Wish & Mercy took me on a complex adventure, there are so many twists and turns. Every page, every chapter drew me in and I didn’t want to set this down at all.
So many interesting characters, as well as creatures & Magic are in this Book. I was absolutely amazed by A.J.’s writing and storytelling throughout the whole book.

Through Wish & Mercy, we follow the drama of the Hallenar family. This family consists of eight siblings two of these eight siblings, Tizzy and Aleth. Both have secrets they are keeping from their family and each other….
As you continue through the story you learn more about the Hallenar family and the twists and turns that surround them.

Though this book is a chunky one it’s well worth the read! It’s well-written with a esquisute , and Enthralling plot-line that pulls you in. That makes you want to keep reading, the world-building is magnificent, it’s done in a way that doesn’t overwhelm you but just pulls you in deeper. The cast of Characters is diverse and so well done.
AJ created this realistic world and you felt as if you were there with the characters yourself.
That Ending amazing, I couldn’t wait to start the Second book in the series right away.

Overall, maybe 3.5 stars because the story was pretty intricate and I like all of the different creatures that are introduced along the way. But there’s a plot twist that I started to anticipate and then was hoping wouldn’t happen, that when it happened changed my rating from a 4 to a solid 3.
