I love a good tale about a world that doesn’t yet exist. The best dystopian stories (for me) are the ones that strike a perfect balance of extreme imagination and believability. Dystopia From The Rock provides such stories. I’d recommend it to any fan of the genre.
There is something inherently magical about a short story. The author must be succinct; they must choose their words carefully while at the same time expertly crafting an entire world.
I like anthologies because you get a little bit of everything and there really is something for everyone! I wanted to savor this book, to read it slowly; a story here and there, picking one at random when I felt like it but that quickly changed once I finally opened it.
For obvious reasons I enjoyed the stories with a Newfoundland setting! But each and every narrative in the book was an absolute pleasure to read. Creative, clever, original; these are just a few of the words that come to mind.
A diverse collection of stories by a talented, eclectic group of authors; they all have such distinctive voices. Undoubtedly, you can hear them loud and clear in Dystopia from the Rock.
A fantastic collection of dystopia related fiction. The stories draw the reader in and keep them engaged to the end. Usually I will read a story in an anthology then put the book down, but this collection wanted me to continue.
Great collection of dystopian style tales that make the reader think of the parallels of the world we live in today. Not for the faint of heart, but well worth reading.
