I loved how this story was actually a sweet little romance with a cute MC that showed none of the attitude that I expected from a man who is referred to as a 'sex god.'
Logan Brady is an actor. Not an A-list Hollywood star, but a TV show actor who plays a vampire cop on a famous teen show that has gathered a huge fan following.
His only problem is a crazy fan who is apparently out to kill him.
As a huge fantasy convention takes place in London, Logan's team hires a UK based bodyguard to look after him for the time of the event.
Security specialist Adam grudgingly takes the job but soon finds himself liking the slightly insecure super handsome TV star. He absorbs Logan's strange life (his fake girlfriend who covers for him so he can pretend to be straight, his fans who ALL want to have a piece of him in some form, his stressed out life style,...).
But when Logan's life really is in danger, Adam finds himself protecting the man not because he's paid for it, but because he cares.
It's a bit of an instalove story, but I found it very sweet and endearing. The crime plot was interesting and featured a bit of a twist, which I liked.
Their romance might have been a touch simple, especially at the beginning when I assumed they'd dance around each other a little more and suddenly just went for it, so I'm deducting one star, but all in all, definitely a solid story with two likable characters.
Loved it! I absolutely adored closeted Vampire/Cop actor Lucas from the moment he was introduced. Just the sweetest thing you ever did want to meet. It took me a bit longer to warm up to cranky bodyguard Adam, but once I did, I fell pretty hard. These two were a perfect M/M romance novel match. And the epilogue was the biggest, most delicious cherry on top of this fabulous sundae. Yummy, yummy, yummy! This one is on my favorites shelf and I look forward to forgetting enough of it so I can read it again.
I liked the idea of the plot. An US actor received recently several threats. When he participates on a convention in the UK, he falls in love with the bodyguard his management hired to protect him.
Unfortunately there's no depth. I didn't feel the connection between the MCs, the romance was just flat. And their behavior after the case was solved was really strange. I mean, according to the plot they were in love, but even so they spent their time together, they seemed distant.
This is a light read with some minor suspense. Relatively short but it have sufficient plot development that feels like a full length story to me.
Adam had been tasked with a ten day assignments to guard an American celebrity during a convention. There isn't a lot of backstory to Adam beside a mentioned to his career as ex-cop. I didn't even get to know why he left that job. Adam is a pretty upstanding guy and openly gay.
Logan had been in the limelight since his teenage years as a child star. He was forced himself to remain in the closet for as long as he can remember in order to protect his career. With a stalker and some death threats looming over him and meeting the sexy bodyguard, Logan might face some life changing consequences during his trip to London.
There isn't a lot of background information on the Bodyguard Inc beside introducing two other co-workers. The story mainly focus on the here and now with Adam and Logan being along side each other and close proximity and growing closer together. Despite the short amount of time, the pacing feels natural. Logan is slowly willing to open up and admit to others on his sexuality. Adam, despite wanting to remain professional, can't really deny the pull they are having. The ongoing threats keep us on our toes guessing who is the culprit. And in all, a pretty satisfying short read that even have a nice HEA to boot.
There is a soap opera convention coming to London from Los Angeles and the fans are going wild. Maybe even crazy. Bodyguard Adam Freeman draws the duty of guarding Logan Brady, one of the stars of the paranormal series. Logan has been a television personality since he was fifteen and now at thirty has had five very successful years on the soap "NightCop". Logan has been receiving death threats which is why Bodyguards, Inc. and Adam are called in. There is a chemistry between Adam and Logan almost immediately but Adam needs to keep his professional distance and Logan needs to decide whether or not to renew his contract with "NightCop" and how to come out of the closet with some kind of career. Adam needs to keep Logan alive through the convention first. I liked the idea of a crazed killer at a soap opera convention and the mix of both humor and seriousness that Ms Scott injected into it. Both Adam and Logan are strong and likable characters. The story revolves primarily around Adam and Logan but there are some very good secondary characters such as Stacia and Robert. I felt the sexual tension and emotional bond between the two men to be the driving force behind this particular story. This same bond is what caused Adam to crumble when Logan is attacked and lay dying. There are a couple of plot twists and turns in the last half of the book that kept the pace of the story moving and kept me flipping pages to the much deserved HEA. I highly recommend this fairly short and fast reading book to anyone looking for a romance mystery.
Given the recent release of the second book in this series The Ex Factor, I figured I'd better read this one - and what a treat - two great books to read in a row!
I thoroughly enjoyed this story with its combination of sexy bodyguard and television star. Adam is an ex-cop who's not looking forward to having to watch over pretty-boy, Logan, when he visits London to attend a fan convention for his vampire television show. Logan has stalker. It sounds a fairly standard plot but it had many things going for it.
The main characters were wonderful and quite open about their feelings which was refreshing. There is not a lot of angst between the characters but they are definitely affected by a number of issues including Logan's closeted sexuality and Adam's desire to remain professional. The secondary characters were interesting (please give us a story about Ross and Kyle) and the drama was just enough.
With a good pace, lot's happening and likable characters, it's a page turner and this book definitely set the scene for a great series!

3.85* Logan is a star, he's an actor and has a stalker or twelve, since the threats have gotten more concrete and after a violent incident a British bodyguard is hired for the convention he and his fellow actors are attending. Adam is assigned the case and there is an immediate attraction but and I am happy to say they don't really have full on sex till almost the very end of the story. The 'mystery' of the stalker was pretty clear early on, but I don't think it was meant to be a big who-done it. Now, I have to ignore that the studio wouldn't pay for security for their star(s) after what happened? Really? ever hear of a) copy-cats and b) I believe an entourage of that many stars would all get some kind of security from the show and after what happen I'm sure of it, but I can overlook it because it was a sweet story. Now I do have to say I didn't warm up to Adam till almost the end, it seemed to me that Logan did all the work and was the one to beg and be vulnerable, I wish Adam had opened up a little earlier and been more proactive. It's a good story and I enjoyed it!
Another typical R.J. Scott book including everything I love such as danger, deception, drama, and hot man lovin'.
Some good stuff was here like extremely hot sex scenes. I found it delightfully funny that the MC thinks American accents are sexy. That's a first! Matt Bomer, one of my all-time favorite heartthrobs is spoken of admiringly. The main female character rocked.
Nitpicks: the brother of a cousin to a person is also a cousin to that person. A character said someone never did something that he actually did.
The HEA (Am I really giving anything away here? Have you ever read a Scott novel that didn't have an HEA?) is perfect. I had been wondering because of the careers of both protagonists but everything worked out great.
I mean, the story of a bodyguard to a closeted Hollywood star certainly has been done before...right? It seems it must have because this one read a bit generic to me.
Still, it was kinda fun, kinda sweet, kinda sexy, and kinda suspenseful.
I would've like it more if there was so much 'telling'. Bogged down.
But, it was fine and fairly enjoyable to read. I'll probably even move on in the series.
Great M/M story. I like this author's deep thought filled characters. This story was interesting, suspenseful, sexy, well written, and romantic. It's seemed like a typical stalker tale, but there were twists and turns and we kept guessing and gasping. Adam is wonderful, good head on his shoulders, strong, and knows what he wants. Logan is free floating, apprehensive to commit his life, and to act the way he truly wants and needs. It was a good story, and hard to put down. ENJOY !!
This book is light, typical bodyguard / famous story. So don´t search for anything more, but what´s offering is nice! I liked it! (maybe too fast for my taste) The action place is a fan convention and image is hilarious but pretty accurate xD. I´m going to read more about this collection because I´m really hoping that Kyle and Ross end together someday! PLEASE!
I am a huge R.J. fan. I love most of her books and this one was no exception. This is a very sweet and kind of cheesy story. There isn't so much in what you would call angst. It had some "drama" and even that was easy and wouldn't leave you pulling your hair out. That was something I did enjoy about this, even though it was over the top in some ways that's my type of read.
Adam and Logan were amazing MC's. I loved the instant attraction and the not exactly slow build, but the way it was written to feel quite slow. In the story it was only a day or two, but it felt longer (in a good way). The whole bodyguard/move star thing was done well too. We didn't have the typical love/hate relationship. It was a really sweet romance and I found it cute.
The secondary characters were really good. I want to see a Ross and Kyle sequel and I will kick Ross' ass if he hurts Kyle. Stacia and Bryan were a lovely addition too and in a way they helped get our MC's together. If I have very rarely loved all the secondary characters, but these four I couldn't help but love them.
The stalker part of the story was well developed. I loved how some people described it as over the top because that is the type of thing I like. If you like something dramatic to happen and it makes you go WTF!!! This could be the book for you, it had that going on through the book and not just in the beginning or the end, but it was there the whole time.
With a HEA that could lead to more. I was left thoroughly impressed with this book and I would recommend it to fans of R.J. Scott and her Sanctuary series. This could be compared. But I loved both for different reasons.
5 Perfect I-Love-it-Stars!! This was such a good book. It was full of those good Feelz and lots of love, with some mystery and action -- just perfection. Logan, he is a sweetheart. Adam, he tried to stay just as Logan's body guard but he couldn't avoid temptation. Those two together were just awesome! Loved the story. Loved the setting.
"Adam was past dangerous. He was fire and want and every incendiary thing Logan had never really had." The passion between Logan and Adam was the perfect slow burn and the author totally knows how to write a love story! 5 Stars ~ Highly Recommended!

Just my cup of tea! I love the whole bodyguard trope and in the hands of RJ Scott it's given a Hollywood spin with a TV star and a stalker plot.
Now, I eyeballed the bad guy as soon as they appeared on the page but not all was as it initially seemed and I was pleasantly surprised by the plot taking a twisty turn I hadn't foreseen, so well done RJ for that.
I loved Logan from the off and watching stoic Adam fight his attraction to his client was delicious. it's a strange mix of insta love and slow burn, contradictory as that sounds, and it works.
#ARC kindly received from the author in return for an honest and unbiased review.
Adam gets stuck with convention detail when he accepts an assignment to be the bodyguard to a ‘pretty boy’, otherwise known as actor Logan Brady. Logan has received threats and was involved in a near miss ‘hit and run’ it’s Adam’s responsibility to ensure Logan’s safety on U.K. soil, but Adam has to fight his attraction for the closeted TV star. Logan is freaked out by the threats on top of his own personal confusion; he has a lot of decisions to make that don’t just impact him, but his close friends as well. Everything comes to a head in the U.K. and he can’t fight his attraction to Adam, but his stalker is still lurking and their personal relationship may just interfere with their professional one.
This is a great story that makes you keep turning the pages as twists and turns emerge and heartfelt confessions are made. Adam hates ‘pretty boy’ duty as nearly every ‘pretty boy’ he has been assigned has turned out to be a spoiled brat, but with this new assignment, he discovers that the man he is guarding has hidden secrets and he has to fight his attraction to Logan. Logan has hidden in the shadows and then behind his ‘girlfriend’ for fourteen years, he is sick of hiding who he really is, but fears he will no longer get the acting parts. Having a stalker adds to his problems, but it bringing Adam to him is a really good thing because his bodyguard is hot, having a fling with Adam may not be a great idea, but when they cross the boundaries both of them find it hard to let Adam do his job.
I loved this story for its storyline, characters and smooth flowing plot, R.J. Scott brings the characters to life giving you insight into not only both main characters, but also into some of the supporting characters like Stacia and Robert, she even gives the stalker a spine tingling personality. Adam and Logan do have a wonderful connection between them, and their attraction is tempered with the realities of their situations, they are a hot couple and they do actually take time before consummating their relationship…(mainly because of circumstances), but there are enough scenes between Adam and Logan to whet your appetite.
I have to recommend this to those of you who love falling for the bodyguard, or falling for the TV star, a great storyline, hot sex, psycho stalkers, wonderful characters and a very happy wonderful ending.
I feel mildly bad for giving this a "bad review" compared to all my friends good reviews, especially because I really like this author. But ya know, not every book is a winner to everybody. This one just didn't click for me. The plot was okay, but I have two major complaints. One, there were a handlful of times when the names were swapped. And while I get that kind of thing happens sometimes, it really tripped me up this time. Normally, I can just ignore that kind of thing, but in this book, I got genuinely confused each time and had to re-read sentences to try and figure out who was actually being talked about. Secondly, the bad guy. That said, I am still considering trying the next book in the series because, like I said, I really like this author. Or at least, I really liked the Texas series, I am hoping that translates well into her other books.
Won't go into a huge amount of detail for this one as others have already done so, and very well IMHO.
I really enjoyed the story and the MC's. Woohoo, chuffed to bits that RJ is doing another series to go with 'Sanctuary' and joy of joys, a new one of those is coming out 'Worlds Collide' which I will def. download when it's available (any chance you can let us know when that will be RJ?)
3.5 stars I liked it a lot, especially that both MC's took their time with the development of their relationship despite the insta-lust :) For me, the showdown was a bit over the top. Nevertheless I'll give the next book in this series a try.
I can’t get enough of this author at the moment! The only good point about Adam Freemans latest assignment as a bodyguard is the handsome face with the stunning eyes staring back at him as he reads through the information on his latest client. This is the worst kind of job in the business! Show business people full of ego and attitude that demand their every whim be met. Worse still it is to take place at a convention, full of screaming fans that he imagines will be dressed up in awful costumes. Logan Brady known in the industry as ‘Sex God’ is nervous about making the trip to the UK for the Night Cop Show convention but feels he owes it to the fans. The fan letters have moved into the creepy category and now someone is leaving him ‘gifts’. His head is a mess, he is nearly 30, he is contemplating finally being honest and coming out and now it looks as though someone wants to kill him. This seemed a really fast read and I couldn’t put it down until I had finished. It’s a real page turner that will keep your attention up to the end as working out who is the stalker is not easy as it appears, everyone is stalking him! The attraction between the two men is red hot and as much as Adam tries to remain professional he is drawn to Logan who has never had a proper relationship before. Logan is sensitive and compassionate with a small group of trusted friends who just needs a keeper and he wants desperately for that person to be Adam. This author always gives us hot MC’s that it is very easy to fall in love for and this one was no different. Despite closets, knives, hospital trips, stalkers and living on different continents these two men fall fast and hard and seem determined to prove that insta-love exists. Now I will wait patiently to see if Ross will finally have his eyes opened!! Roll on Book 2
Yes, the title leaves much to be wanted. Yes, the grammar was quite bad at times. Nonetheless, I find myself giving it 5 stars as opposed to the 4 I was originally going to. Also, I'm eating cookies, so I'm in a good mood right now. *shrugs. Might have something to do with it.
However, this book was still surprisingly good. The way the author worked the individual elements was interesting and engaging without being overly blatant or cheesy.
The psychological elements were thankfully present and played an interesting and subtle role. The author lampshaded correctly, which is also exciting, and sparingly. There was enough that it really DID seem like something that would actually happen within the contexts of a behind-the-scenes for the media sort of thing.
The characters were quite good. The concerns were lampshaded quite nicely, but not completely shunted off to the side for the sake of random sex. There was a good balance between the sexual tension and the need for discretion.
What tipped it over the edge for me was actually the emotions portrayed towards the end, especially in the dénouement. The end scene was adorable without being too tritely an obligatory HEA.
Also, I think the cover looks pretty spot-on with the models chosen.
I found this to be an enjoyable read. I really like how everything starts though I found that later on in the book, the excitement kind of waned.
Adam is a bodyguard for Bodyguards, Inc. in the UK. He has been given the job of protecting a famous American actor who will be in the UK for a convention. This actor, Logan (who has been dubbed "Sex God" in the press) has been getting threatening letters and packages. Adam is hired to be his protector during the duration of the convention. Logan is closeted. Adam is openly gay.
I like how this started with the instant attraction between the two men. I actually liked everything that happened up until Logan went back home to America. The stalker is found out (in a pretty dramatic way) and it looked like Logan and Adam's relationship is moving forward. Once they get to the U.S., however, I felt that the story went downhill. I didn't get the reasoning behind why Logan did some of the things he did. I didn't really get why he even wanted Adam with him, though it was explained somewhat.
Overall, a good read. I did like how everything came together as far as the stalker is concerned.
While some of the story line brought back memories of The Bodyguard (of Kevin Costner fame), this story about Logan, an actor being stalked, and Adam, his ex-cop bodyguard, has definitely got a dynamic all its own. And not just because the two main characters are gay men, but because the mysterious stalker is very much up to date with today's job description of a creepy fan who lost touch with reality. And between the twists and turns of the whodunit (or rather the who-is-about-to-do-it) and the sizzling insta-lust between Logan and Adam, this book had me enthralled from beginning to end.
If you like tough bodyguards, if you enjoy reading about conventions and all the fangirling that goes on there, and if you're looking for a read that combines sweet, passionate romance with a creepy mystery, then you will probably like this novella.
NOTE: This book was provided by Love Lane Books for the purpose of a review.
This was enjoyable enough— a light read. But I didn’t really cozy up to either character much.
Logan is the smexy Hollywood star who’s famous for his TV role as a vampire cop (reminded me of Alex O’Loughlin in the TV show, Moonlight) and someone is stalking him and sending him crazy fan mail. Things are escalating and Adam is hired to be Logan’s bodyguard while he’s at a convention in England.
I think the issue for me is when someone is supposed to be acting professionally (like guarding someone whose life is being threatened) but they keep getting distracted by how hot their employer is. The whole accountability thing kinda goes out the window. And the crazy fan thing was kind of a fizzle, too.
Adam Freeman is a British bodyguard assigned to protect American actor Logan Brady when he attends a UK convention for his paranormal drama Night Cop. Logan it turns out is being stalked, receiving letters which turned into death threats. Logan is actually gay, and closeted. Sparks fly immediately between the two men and as hard as Adam tries to keep a professional distance things heat up very quickly.
It's so nice to read books based in the UK so I was really looking forward to this and it doesn't disappoint, and the plots twists and turns enough to keep you on the edge of your seat. Highly Recommended
Hmmm... I just wanted to scream,"Wait for him!"... but the idiot didn't listen! I liked the way the story flowed, the way the supporting characters added so much to the story line... but, I thought the "mystery" part fell a little flat. I guessed the bad guy/gal pretty early on and never gave up on my choice... and I ended up being right! (Pats self on back) I am sure that I will follow through with the rest of this series, I just won't be in any rush to do so... but, I am sure that it will happen!
This was such a cute little read! Sweet, sexy, and pretty much everything you'd expect from an RJ Scott novel. She is one of my favourite M/M authors and so far has never disappointed me - she writes great romance and always leaves me smiling. Bodyguard to a Sex God was definitely no exception, and the ENDING! So adorable! I'd love a story for Ross and Kyle. Pretty please? ;)
This story is crazy good. Not only are the main characters strongly written so are the sub characters. This was a fun, lite read with a tad bit of angst at one point (wg) Oh just read the story. It's a must read. It has sexy men, hysterical um people, great banter between characters, what more do you want? Oh yeah well there's that too :-)
