Sophie McGraw was just hoping for a nice quiet life now that she moved back to her hometown to open an art store, but trouble seems to have followed her in the form of the man who shot her fiance. After she runs into him (literally), she uses her drawing skills to give his description to the police in the hope of tracking him down. But now he is stalking her, so with the help of her former high school crush, Detective Ben Sorenson and his big dog Riley, Sophie's plan is to stop the criminal and get her life back to normal. That is if the handsome detective doesn't draw her into his own life.
A plot that is actually a bit too nitty-gritty for me. But it was well constructed and although you knew the culprit from the start still a good read. However if must admit that I prefer books that you have to guess the culprit. Nice build up to the characters and they soon became real. She had moved bakery home to open an area shop. A quick visit to the post office turned into a nightmare when the mayor robbing the pawnbrokers run into her. A quick sketch on the sidewalk led to her meeting up with an old school friend of her brother's and the man who had crushed her young heart. But will the sketchbook enough to catch the thief? A robbery gone wrong with her fiance ending up shot, meths, a string of thefts and drugs, intimidation and a kidnapping are mixed into an earthy read that really has more grit then I like. But will it lead to the killer?
