Credence, Colorado #2

The Trouble with Christmas

Rate this book
All Suzanne St. Michelle wants is an over-the-top, eggnog-induced holiday with her best friend in Credence, Colorado. But when her hoity-toity parents insist she come home for Christmas in New York, she blurts out that her sexy landlord is actually her boyfriend and she can’t leave him—Joshy loves Christmas. The more twinkle lights the better.

Rancher Joshua Grady does not love Christmas. Or company, or chatty women. Unfortunately for him, the chattiest woman ever has rented the cottage on his ranch, invited her rich, art-scene parents, and now insists he play “fake rancher boyfriend” in a production of the Hokiest Christmas Ever. And somehow…she gets him to agree.

Apparently, he’ll do anything to get his quiet life back. At least there’s mistletoe every two feet—and kissing Suzy is surprisingly easy. But in the midst of acres of tinsel, far too many tacky Christmas sweaters, and a tree that can be seen from space, he’s starting to want what he lost when he was a kid—a family. Too bad it’s with a woman heading back to New York before the ball drops…

So... this was actually really cute and it is definitely the best Christmas romance I read in a while, and I enjoyed almost every aspect of the story.

Even those cliche moments were done right.

I usually an not a fan of grumpy male MCs, but somehow this time our love interest didn't get on my nerves. Not a single time.

This book has two tropes, enemies to lovers (kind of) and fake dating.

It also has sooo many holly joly Christmas decorations, sweaters and references, just like one Christmas romance novel should have.

Do I have to say this would be an amazing hallmark movie?

Also, this can 100% be read as standalone so don't forget to pick it up this Christmas! ;)

The Trouble With Christmas is book two in the Credence, Colorado series by Amy Andrews. This is a sweet, sexy, grumpy/sunshine, fake relationship, holiday romance.

Joshua Grady is thirty five years old and runs his now retired Uncle’s ranch which will someday be his. Josh likes his solitude. If it weren’t for his ranch hands, he would be happy going for days without having to talk to another person. He definitely does not want to deal with a boarder his uncle told him was coming to stay in the cottage behind his cabin for the next month.

Suzanne St. Michelle is twenty nine years old. Her mother is a famous sculptor. Suzanne is an artist but lacking the confidence to create her own art, has made a name for herself in reproducing famous artwork. Suzanne’s parents are not into the traditional Christmas celebrations. And it’s all Suzanne wants. The tree, the lights, the carols, all of it. So when her best friend invites her to Credence for the holiday, she jumps at the chance. And also, it will give her a chance to try to find her own muse, to finally paint. But when her parents insist she come home for Christmas, she claims that her rancher landlord is really her boyfriend that loves Christmas and is beyond excited to share it with her. So of course, her parents decide to come to her.

Now Josh finds himself thrust into pretending to be in love with Suzanne and also drowning in horrible Christmas decorations, sweaters, cookies, and everything else that comes with it. But also, his house smells of all sorts of wonderful things when he comes in at night. Someone actually worries about how his day went. The fire is going and it feels more like a home than it ever has. But feelings is NOT something Josh does. Because when this is all over, Suzanne will return to New York and he’ll stay here alone, just the way he wants it.

I did enjoy this. I loved seeing the changes in Suzanne as she rediscovered herself. And, I always love my cowboy/rancher heroes. But the hot and cold mood changes of Josh’s really bothered me and kept me from really falling for him. Even with that, it was still a cute story and had a wonderful ending. This can definitely be read as a stand alone. I haven’t read either of the other books in the series.

Oh, I loved this romance! I went into this book rather blindly. I had not read any of Amy Andrews work before this book. This is the second book in the Credence, Colorado series but it works perfectly well as a stand-alone novel. I do want to go back and read the first book though but that is just because I liked this one so much. I really had a fantastic time with this story.

Suzanne is an artist who is looking for a change of scenery. She rents a cabin on Grady's ranch to get away and work to find her muse again. Her career has consisted of reproducing art for museums and other clients but she would love to create original art. Unfortunately, her muse gets stuck on Grady. Grady wants nothing more than to be left to work his ranch. He likes to be left alone and doesn't need anything more in his life.

A visit from Suzanne's parents changes everything. Suzanne and Grady must try to make them believe that they are head over heels in love. And that Grady is really into Christmas. They go straight into over the top cheesy Christmas with tacky decorations and lights everywhere. Oh...and did I mention that Grady is not at all into all this Christmas stuff?

I had so much fun with this book. Grady and Suzanne were great together and had fantastic chemistry. I loved watching them inch closer and closer to each other over the course of the story. I loved that there was some humor worked into the book and it seemed to show up at just the right moment. Both Grady and Suzanne were complex characters whom I grew to love over during this story. I really felt like these two deserved to find happiness together.

I would recommend this book to fans of contemporary romance. I was totally swept away by this wonderful romance and didn't want it to come to an end. I will definitely be reading more from Amy Andrews in the future!

I received a digital review copy of this book from Entangled: Amara via Bookish First.

Initial Thoughts
Oh, I loved this book! Grady and Suzanne were perfect and I adored all of the tacky Christmas stuff worked into the story. This really was a great romance.

Fantastic, sexy and hot as hell! Readers will love Suzanne. She has a lot of sass which I loved. Brooding Joshua Grady has his world turned upside down when Suzanne shows up on his doorstep. Credence, Colorado and its residents have me hooked on this series. I'm ready for more, please!

The Trouble with Christmas by Amy Andrews has:

☃️Fake Dating
🌻Sunflower artist with bite
🦡Grumpy cowboy recluse
🎅Matching ugly Christmas sweaters
🐢Zoom
All Suzanne St. Michelle wants is to find her muse and to enjoy an over top Christmas full of lights, holiday sweaters, and silly ornaments, a Christmas her artsy NYC parents usually avoid like the plague. Hiding out in a cabin on a Montana ranch seems like the best place to do both, but her cabin comes with a side of grouchy, Grinch-y rancher.

Joshua Grady is just fine avoiding most people in his small community, besides his nosy Aunt and Uncle. His Aunt and Uncle who just saddled him with an unwanted tenant during the most difficult time of the year, Christmas and the anniversary of the car accident that took the lives of both his parents and his first love. And not only is Suzanne too chatty, too nosy, and too friendly, she's also too gorgeous for her own good and making Grady feel things. Things he hasn't felt in many years.

Suzanne is also having trouble as her muse seems to only want to paint Grady. And when Suzanne's parents' decide to come to her for Christmas, she accidentally makes up a relationship with the very man who she can't get out of her head to try to stave them off.

Grady is horrified Suzanne has been painting him and that she's told her parents they're dating. Oh, and that he's Christmas's number one fan. Great.

Agreeing to her scheme only if Suzanne will give up her paintings, Grady finds himself falling under Suzanne's spell, ugly holiday sweaters and penis cookies and all.

Absolutely delightful, the kind of raunchy Christmas romance I want and need. Andrews writes delightfully fun stories and I just ate this one up. The lingering grief issues Grady faces are not overwrought and perfectly blend in with the humor and heart.

PLUS this is really steamy, and I loved how these two just had so much sexual tension, so much. They argue and their heat just melts off the page. Yum. My favorite kind.

partially listened to in 2021; didn't like the narrator.

First, thank you to Andrews for a holiday romance that actually takes place and centers around the holiday. Suzanne St. Michelle a renowned artist who makes her money creating copies of classic works is visiting Credence, Colorado for a month. She has rented a cottage on rancher Joshua Grady’s land. And as long as she keeps out of his way all will be fine. LOL..

Instant chemistry is one thing, but when you find out your short term tenant has been painting pictures of you, you might just strike a bargain to get said paintings.

Eep! I love a good fake relationship and this one comes wrapped in a gaudy Christmas bow! When Suzanne tells her Mom she isn’t coming home for Christmas, her Mom insists they’ll come to her, and the next thing you know Suzanne and Grady are posing as a couple and decorating for the holidays.

I loved this story. From Suzanne trying to find her muse to Grady’s story. Grady has baggage and has suffered unimaginable loss. I wanted to hug him and slap 👋 him upside the back of the head, Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs style. (NCIS, TV series)

Secondary characters, small-town charm and rumor mills led to moments of laughter and complications. I laughed, swooned, cried, and melted right along with my Kindle. It was the perfect afternoon delight! This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

After 12 years in the military, all Joshua Grady wants is peace and privacy. Santa must not have received the memo because thanks to an uncle who own the ranch where Josh lives and decided to rent the cottage on the land, what the loner and grumpy rancher will have for Christmas start with a fake relationship with a vivacious and chatter-box artist. Him, the guy who could be voted for the less-fan of the Holidays season and all that comes with it will find himself accepting to be the pretend boyfriend of New Yorker Suzanne St-Michelle and he'll have to pretend that all the OTT Christmas paraphernalia is what he wants. Only blackmail could convince him to say yes to this ridiculous plan, and I'll let you the pleasure to discover in which funny way our heroine did just that😜

I adored the first book in the series and this one was a delight to read too! There's something about this author that mix sweet with sass and heat so well. It's everything I want in my love stories. There's funny moments, an heartwarming romance, great chemistry and sexy intimacy and plenty of emotions and feelings that both MC have to deal with, not only about each other but about their own story, whether it's about the past, the present, the future or all three.

I can't wait to see who's next in the series but please, pretty please, I want Winona and Arlo!

Suzanne St Michelle is a brilliant copyist, she makes a good living in New York creating replicas of priceless paintings for art galleries and private collectors but living in the shadow of her mother, a world renowned sculptor, Suzanne really wants to find her muse. When her BFF suggests she gets away from it all and seeks inspiration in Credence, Colorado she jumps at the chance to commune with nature. Unfortunately her muse appears more interested in the taciturn, and downright rude cowboy rancher living in the cabin next door.

Joshua Grady is a former soldier, his entire family and his childhood sweetheart were killed when he was just 17 years old and since then he hasn't let anyone close, except his aunt and uncle who raised him. He can't stand the chatty New York artist who has moved into his uncle's rental cabin and he's livid when he finds out she's been painting him.

Suzanne has always wanted a traditional Christmas with tinsel and a big tree with lots of ornaments, unfortunately the St Michelle house doesn't do traditional, her mother prefers an art installation approximation of a Christmas tree and absolutely none of the schmaltzy decorations so Suzanne does everything she can to get out of returning to New York for Christmas, including telling her mother that she is involved with Joshua and wants to spend Christmas with him - because he's such a Christmas freak! Before you can say Kris Kringle Joshua's cabin is decked out in the tackiest decorations Suzanne can find and the two of them are wearing matching Christmas jumpers.

I liked this but I didn't love it. Amy Andrews said she found this book a struggle to finish and I think it shows. I don't think I really understood Joshua's motivations properly, he just seemed to be a foil for Suzanne's spiralling fantasies.

Overall, while Amy Andrews is still an auto-request for me this didn't hit my buttons. However, I am chomping at the bit to read the next book in this series, which I hope will feature Suzanne's friend Winona, the erotic novelist, and Arlo the uptight policeman.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Grady and Suzy's story was so adorable about finding the joy of the holidays and falling in love when you least expect it. Grady was a miserable, broody alpha male but Suzy worked at getting through the walls he built up.

All she wants in an over-the-top, eggnog-induced holiday with her best friend, but her parents insists she comes home for a boring Christmas in New York, so Suzanne St. Michelle does what any sane rational woman would do, she claims her landlord is really her boyfriend who really loves Christmas. He does not love Christmas or company or chatty women, unfortunately Joshua Grady finds himself agreeing to Suzanne’s charade.

This ‘Credence Colorado’ holiday romance an emotional gripping tale with the most delightful hokiest Christmas ever to tickle the readers' holiday spirit . Although a bit hard to get into at first, the story soon picks up and the strong, captivating characters subtly draw readers into their story and before readers know it, they are hooked. The chemistry between Suzanne and Joshua is quite electrical and leaps off the pages but this relationship is one where the hero fights tooth and nail against opening his heart and letting anyone due to his past and the heroine has her own issues to deal with, so while this couple ‘fits’, the relationship is full of sparks, clashes and emotional turmoil that keeps things quite interesting.

The plot of the story happens at a steady pace and is quite suspenseful as readers wonder how this unlikely couple will manage to pull this elaborate charade. This results in lots of chuckles and fun, especially as the couple go to some pretty cut throat negotiations to get through this holiday and readers just have to turn the pages to find just what will happen next as it spreads some holiday cheer the readers' way.

Amy Andrews has really started a great series with Credence, Colorado. It’s romantic comedy gold where the whole town is matchmaking! In The Trouble with Christmas we have a grumpy hunk who’s basically a hermit Scrooge and an artist trying to get inspiration! Well one look at Joshua Grady and Suzanne is getting her artistic groove back. Too bad he seems to not want anything to do with her. The Trouble with Christmas was pure fun to read! It’s sexy, humorous and quirky. Joshua and Suzanne witty bantering, their off the chart chemistry plus the wacky town of Credence, Colorado makes this holiday read a page turner. I can’t wait for the next book! Can it be the romance writer and grumpy sheriff next?

The Trouble with Christmas was a heartwarming, sweet story with a communicative holiday spirit.

When the grumpy, tall, dark and handsome rancher let his match with an artist who made him fall in love without even trying.

Brady was happy in his solitary life, his ranch, busy all day and keeping his life at bay from all the people of Credence Bay. Until the moment when the cottage next to his house was rented by the bubbly, chatty and charming artist who was too sexy and tempting  for her own good. A temptation he didn’t need in his life. Like never.

It needed just a silly plan from Suzanne; by having a fake rancher boyfriend to really see what he would like to finally found that someone.

But before getting there, they would have a lot of passionate arguments filled so much smoking hot tension that would make anyone melt.

I adored how different they could be in the outside and so complementary on the inside. For this unmatched « couple », finding a way to make things natural were too easy for their liking.

She was too loud and he loved the quiet but they fitted perfectly, from arguing passionately to almost trying to ignore those feelings, to just freaking swooning.

Just the good kind of trouble!

A sad "don't call me Scrooge" DNF. I like Amy Andrews' romances. I like Christmas romances. I like grumpy hero romances. I just didn't like this Amy Andrews Christmas with a grumpy hero romance.

One big reason I had difficulty was that I just couldn't take any more of Suzanne's italicized inner thoughts. Suzanne had paragraphs and paragraphs with randomly italicized thoughts and I just couldn't take it any more. It was really distracting and kind of annoying and totally made me dislike her. Big time.

By the time I DNF'd, it is clear that Grady is a taciturn, people-avoiding rancher (not cowboy, as he corrects Suzanne) with a Painful Past. Suzanne, meanwhile, is a bohemian New York city girl who fled to Colorado to find her muse as she sadly whines that her successful sculptor mother never had any folksy Christmas decorations. Okay. So Suzanne, who hasn't painted anything original in a decade but makes a successful living painting reproductions, discovers Grady's face is the only thing that inspires her to create new art.

Surprise, surprise, Grady is not down for his face splattered on her canvases. Or playing her fake boyfriend when Suzanne's parents venture to Colorado from NYC to spend Christmas with her. And after finding very little chemistry but a lot of forced city girl in country humor and even more italics, I didn't really find much enthusiasm to continue. I'm pretty sure that after some holiday shenanigans, Suzanne will at some point have to confess to her parents It Was A Lie and then Grady will confess to her You Made Me Love Christmas Because I Love You Despite My Tragic Past.

To be fair, it wasn't all about the italics. My expectations may have been too high because I usually find Amy Andrews' romances full of crackling sexual tension and great banter. There wasn't enough of either much less holiday cheer. I'm still a fan of hers (here's hoping for more rugby players, please and thank you) but maybe the holiday romances aren't my thing.

Thank you for NetGalley and the publisher for generously providing me an eARC to read and review.

A romance of three parts

This is a perfect romance. The first section slowly builds to the Christmas chaos Suzanne unleashes on Grady. The middle section is laughs out loud hilarity. The third section is intensely romantic and a joy to soak up. So relax in stage one and enjoy the set up then spend an hour laughing uproariously at Suzy and Grady’s antics. Then finally enjoy a couple working out they're happy ever after.

The Trouble with Christmas
by Amy Andrews is the second book in her Credence, Colorado series but can be read and enjoyed a stand alone. This fake relationship romance is so jam packed with holiday cheer it will without a doubt put you in the Christmas mood.

Artist Suzanna St. Michelle comes to Credence to find her muse and create some original art work. Her muse is instantly taken with her handsome rancher of a landlord, and she gets into a groove. Her muse is derailed when her anti holiday parents decide to come visit for Christmas after she mentions she is dating said rancher and how they are utterly smitten with each other. Problem, rancher Josh Grady is not a fan of the holidays and doesn't know she's his girlfriend. After some negotiating he agrees to be her fake boyfriend in order to get her out of Credence and out of his hair. Fake kisses turn steamy and quickly feelings become far from fake. When Grady fights his feelings, Suzanna has to express her the only way she knows how, through her art.

"God, she was dizzying, his heart was racing, the air in his lungs was hot, and she tasted like Bourbon and peaches and he deepened the kiss for more."

I love a good fake relationship trope and Amy Andrews did a great job with it. Grady was gruff and grumpy while Suzanna was energetic and chatty. The holiday setting will not disappoint, the book has all the holiday Christmas traditions you can think of from mistletoe and cookie baking to snowball fights and snow angels. For all the sweet moments there were fantastic steamy moments. Amy Andrews sure knows how to write and intimate scene that will leave you hot and bothered. Whether Suzanna and Grady were locked in a passionate embrace or arguing and pushing each others buttons, they were a great couple to read about.

The Trouble with Christmas
by Amy Andrews is definitely a holiday romance that I will be recommending to my fellow romance readers. A book worthy of its title and I can't wait for more books to come in the series.

This is a laugh out loud, fun and moving story, MS Andrews has such a way with words she pulls the reader in, brings the characters to life they become friends and this one is just so good, I loved Grady and Suzanne so very different but so meant to be together, being back in Credence was such a joy and I do hope that you pick this one up and get to know Grady and Suzanne.

Suzanne St. Michelle is an artist from New York, she is good at art but has lost her muse and when her friend invites her to Credence for Christmas, Suzanne is more than happy to go not only to see if she can find her muse but to have a real Christmas with all of the trimmings instead of the dull one she has always spent with her upper class Mum and Dad. Suzanne finds her muse, when she arrives, in her gorgeous landlord Joshua Grady, but when her parents insist on coming as well Suzanne convinces Joshua to play pretend boyfriend and to love Christmas, let the fun times begin.

Rancher Joshua Grady, is a loner and is not impressed that his uncle has rented the cottage on the ranch out to an artist, but the beautiful woman driving the Scooby van sets his blood on fire and when asked the question to be a fake boyfriend he thinks it best to agree so as he can get his quiet life back, Grady has issues about loving people, not realizing that his life will be turned upside down by the Christmas loving artist.

Falling in love was never on the cards for either of them but when cupid shoots those arrows and the intense spark that fires up between them during a blizzard and Joshy and Suzy start to open up and the sex is off the planet, it still takes them a while to say it out loud, how hard is it to say I love you, but seeing it in a painting brings them together beautifully, what an ending, what a HEA. This one sizzles with heat, emotions and fun and so much love, yes a must read woohoo another fabulous story form MS Andrews.

What a wonder Christmas time romance, even though our lead character, Grady. Hates the season. The author has written a very funny, heartwarming and touching story with characters so well defined, you’ll not only love them but you’ll feel every once of their emotions. Characters that you’ll grow to love and root for too.

Grady, a rancher in Credence Colorado, is a loner who just wants to tend to his ranch and be left alone. Especially around the Christmas holidays, as they bring up tragic memories from his past. So when his uncle rents out the cottage on the ranch for the holidays, Grady is not a happy camper. His mood gets even more grouchy when Suzanne, a New York City painter, shows up and won’t quit talking and driving Grady crazy over the craziest of this. From the time she shows up at the ranch I laughed to the point of tears. But matters go from bad to worse when Suzanne unintentionally ends up telling her parents she has a boyfriend and her parents end up at the ranch as well. The banter between Grady and Suzanne as they try to pull of the Hokiest Christmas ever while trying to convince her parents they are a couple is beyond hilarious. Storms, Mistletoe, intriguing paintings and Christmas lights believe it or not make for one funny romance to don’t want to miss.

2 Thumbs Up and 5 Stars for a great addition to the Credence Colorado series and may everyone’s holidays be as exciting as Grady and Suzanne’s. I loved the heartwarming story and Highly recommend grabbing it up. You won’t regret you did.

This is the first book that I have read from this author and I found it to be really enjoyable. It is the second book of the series but it can be read as a standalone. I am not a big fan of the holidays but I do love a good Christmas movie or book. This story kind of reminded me of a movie that was the same premises except the heroine “kidnapped a boyfriend” and I love that quirky type of movie so this book was a real treat. Suzanne and Josh were a great couple and you can see the chemistry and attraction that they have for each other so clearly although they don’t want to admit to it. You can’t fight it because if it is meant to be, love will find a way.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and Entangled Publishing and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This book had just what I was looking for when I picked it up. A grumpy rancher who meets a spunky city girl to throw him for a loop, all set during Christmas time. It had the right amount of sweetness combined with a large helping of sexual tension to balance it out. The banter was very entertaining and the writing style was easy to get involved in to the story. I enjoyed it and look forward to going back to read the first book in the series.

Fun-fact about me: I adore everything and anything Christmas. I'm that person who will beg all year to be able to put my tree up and begin buying presents for my family and friends months before Christmas is even a thought. So, it's no surprise that I love Christmas stories, the cheesier the better.

This book follows Suzanne as she tries to find inspiration to make her own art. She replicates art for a living--a very good living--but it doesn't feed her soul, only her wallet. So what better way to find some inspiration then to spend the holidays in a ranch, where she can be alone with her craft?

She isn't expecting Joshua, the man who she's renting the cabin from and whom hates everything about Christmas. And also doesn't like her. Well, he doesn't like people, period.

Hijacks occur when her parents try to get her home for the holidays and she tells them that she can't, because she's engaged to Joshua--the man who can't stand her, but they don't know that--and can't leave him, since he loves the holidays.

Fun, adorable, hilarious, and full of Christmas spirit, this book will captivate you from the first page and remind you why Christmas is a magical time of year!

This was so adorably sweet and entertaining with just the right amount of sexy and emotion mixed in. Awesome read!

Josh and Suzanne were wonderful! I am a sucker for a grumpy hero and Josh Grady definitely had that covered. I loved his gruffness, learning about him and his past, and watching him start to open up and heal. It could be tense and emotional, but it was also really fun and sweet. He had sexy rancher down for sure! I really liked Suzanne as well, trying to find herself and her way. The way Josh and Suzanne butted heads was fantastic, I loved their verbal sparring. These two could be stubborn, so watching them get to their HEA was exciting and frustrating all rolled into one. I loved when they opened up and the vulnerability and emotions came into play. I liked their building attraction and they had excellent chemistry.

The Trouble with Christmas was just an awesome story filled with entertaining scenes that had me smiling and cheering for Josh and Suzanne. The details were great and thought it was a well-rounded story and I really liked the dual POVs. I loved all the over the top Christmas elements and the joy it brought to the story. The townsfolk and secondary characters were awesome, adding even more enjoyment into the mix. I liked the foreshadowing for future couples and I am excited for what's to come in the series.

This was a great read and a wonderful addition to the Credence, Colorado series. It's a feel-good story that will leave you swooning! It was filled with healing and love and I really liked it.

Suzanne just wants to celebrate Christmas her way, and there's nothing wrong with it including her best friend and a lot of eggnog. That's what the holidays are for, aren't they? And Credence is where she wants to spend it. But nooooo, Her uptight, uhh, pretentious, no, that's not nice either, appearance appreciative? - okay, that works - parents insists she stay in New York. Perhaps blurting out that she doesn't want to be away from her new boyfriend wasn't the best defense considering he doesn't exist. Well, he does, but he's really just her landlord.

Josh merely rented a cottage on his land to the woman, a chatty one at that. He doesn't like Christmas, nor talking, nor people that much, to be honest. And now she's just made his life even harder by inviting her parents to stay with her AND is insisting he pretend to be her boyfriend. This has to be a nightmare or a joke, right? But if he wants things to return to how they were before she turned his world upside down, maybe the charade won't be so bad. Everything else might be a bit too much to take, but kissing Suzy just could make up for all of it, and help him get back his holiday spirit.

If only she wasn't returning home, putting a deadline on what they may have found.

One-click now and follow along as this cranky loner and a Christmas happy chatterbox discover the best gift of all might be each other. I loved watching these two spend time together and how Suzy helped Josh recover what he lost...family.

This book was a fun read and a delight to me as a break from some of the heavier titles I have been reading lately.
The story is a Christmas romance story about a young artist who escapes New York and goes to Credance, Colorado in hopes of finding her muse and getting her painting ability to come back. She rents a cottage on a ranch and meets the nephew of the owner. Joshua does not want to deal with her. The romance is really funny as she tells her parents that she cannot be home for Christmas because she has a new boyfriend who loves Christmas and goes all out for it. Of course her parents decide to join her for the holiday to meet the new boyfriend and Suzanne has to convince Joshua to pretend that they are in love. It is a fun book with lots of sizzle and great characters. I had never read a book by this author but will in the future.

This book was so funny. I would read this book at night and had to laugh quietly so I wouldn’t wake up my hubby and son.

Suzanne St. Michelle moves to Credence to find her muse again. Her friend Winona recommended for her to move there.

Joshua Grady is ex military and he took over his Uncles farm. He’s quiet and doesn’t want to be bother. He suffered a lot in his life.

Suzanne is staying at Gradys cottage. The first time they meet he’s listing everything he doesn’t like and she’s happy she’s found her muse. Stuff happened and Grady found the paintings and was not happy about.

Suzanne gets a cal from her mom about Christmas but she doesn’t want to go back home for a boring Christmas. So she told her mom she was dating Grady and living with him. To prevent her mom from coming to
Credence she told her Grady loves the tackiest Christmas. But her parents are still coming for Christmas.

Suzanne has to tell Grady her lie and asked him to be her fake boyfriend. Suzanne offers the paintings for him to be a fake boyfriend.

I loved this book and really couldn’t put it down. I love the way Amy Andrews writes. Loving the series.

OMG, this book is soooooo good! It's laugh out loud funny and has a bit of snark. I just loved the story and, while I've long been a fan of the author, think this is her best book yet. She perfectly captured a Christmas tale that is so good it can, and should, be read any time of year. I loved the characters, from the artistic Suzanne and the gruff Grady, to the oh so proper Simone.

This book is just a delight to read. It was so yummy that I slowed my reading pace down so that I could savor and thoroughly enjoy it. As satisfying as the ending was, I was sorry when I reached the last page and ran out of book to read.

Put this one at the top of your TBR list as this is a must read. Better yet, pre order it so you can read just as soon as possible. The author is on my must read authors' list and, if you enjoy the genre, should be on your must read list as well. If I could give this novel more than five stars, I would.

5 star review of The Trouble With Christmas (Credence, Colorado #2) by Amy Andrews

Amy Andrews is a relatively new author to me. This was a fun, entertaining read that had me riveted from the first to the last chapter.

There was humour and the banter that flowed was well written and amusing. I loved the main characters of Suzanne and Joshua as they were easy to relate to.

I love cowboys and small town romance and this ticked the boxes for me. It was amusing to watch Suzanne and Joshua dance around the feelings that were developing between them. The secondary characters were great and enhanced this feel good story and I am looking forward to reading more in this series.

The Trouble With Christmas is a romantic, sweet, heart warming story that is centred around the most magical time of the year. What’s not to enjoy?

I received this book from the publisher through Netgalley.

‘The Trouble With Christmas’ is the first book I have read by Amy Andrew, and I was given it in exchange for an honest review.

Initially it felt strange to be reading a festive themed book in the middle of September, but I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it’s made me feel that little bit of excitement already for the holiday season.

The book is about Suzanne St. Michelle, an artist who has lost her muse. She travels to the small town of Credence to catch up with her friend, and hopes to regain her creativity.

Whilst Suzanne is in Credence, she takes up residence in a small cottage belonging to one Joshua Grady. Grady is stern, standoffish and very anti-social. He makes her nervous and she can’t help but try and win him over with her verbal babble. But it becomes increasingly obvious that they are very different.

Grady is used to a life of solitude and wallowing, immersing himself in rancher life, and returning home to the peace and quiet of his house. His only real companion is is title Zoom, and when his uncle Burl and aunt Cora visit. He had had a tragic past, and a past that had shaped him to be incredibly fearful of allowing others to be close to him. But when Suzanne shows up, she bulldozes any hopes of him remaining alone.

Suzanne is fun, she is hopeful and she lets her creativity shine, and when her parents try and get her to return to New York for Christmas, she can’t help but create the beginning of an elaborate lie, saying that her and her boyfriend ‘Grady’ are going to enjoy their first Christmas together in credence. However, the lie goes horribly, horribly wrong, and to her horror she is forced to bargain with Grady, in the hopes of saving her ass.

The story is fun, with lots of cute moments. I love how the story is about bringing people closer together, and the community spirit is clear in Credence.

The world building is on point in this story, and I love Winona and her cop buddy! It’s realistic and full of so many really slushy romantic moments that just got me!

This book is the perfect read for all romance lovers, and those who would like to get into the festive spirit.
