Dr. Edward Granville Browne was a British citizen and a scholar of Iran's religion, culture, and history who sympathized with Iranians during the Constitutional Revolution, a turning point in Iran's history.
In his book, he made a tremendous historical document for the international community about Russian and British brutality, which was imposed upon Iranians.
Russia invaded Iran with the blessing of Britain and took over the northern part of Iran. This book focused on the city of Tabriz and how Russian soldiers were molesting Iranians, robbing their properties, and demolition their homes because people did not want to have a despotic regime and wanted to have a constitution to curtail the king's power.
Russians tortured Iranians, or some Iranians who were on the payroll of Russians would take part in the torture and killing of other Iranians. Then, brave Iranians would march to the gallows. There was one form of torture which was horrible. A victim would be put in a bucket full of water and would be forced to submerge in the bucket, and when the victim ran out of air, he would rise to get some fresh air, and men would strike the victim on top of his skull, which would cause the victim to submerge, and eventual death.
After reading this book, I concluded that how someone can become a communist and support Russia? You must be a traitor.
