As a rule, there are only three things that magic cannot do: create life, bring back the dead, and make people fall in love. As a rule, there are only three things that villagers ask from a witch: to produce children for the old and barren, to bring back the dead, and to make someone or other fall in love. Naturally, Toadmila had been trained to handle such requests with utmost professionalism. The key to it was to smile, look confident, and never let on that there was anything impossible for a witch.
As a young witch assigned to assist and protect a bunch of superstitious villagers, Toadmila Wartly has to deal with mostly impossible demands from her customers. And the lessons from that prestigious witchcraft Academy she's graduated don't seem to help her much. But with enough ingenuity and wit, she might just find a way to help everyone.
Toadmila is full of sass, logic and heart. She's making the best of her situation and doing her job with wonderful results. I look forward to more of her adventures.
Cute quick read. I got this thru a giveaway so decided why not read it and it was good, I noticed there were more books that I would definitely look into reading. Read it in about an hour. Loved the main character.
This is a cute, quick read. I won this in a Goodreads giveaway so I didn’t have anything to lose. Despite being easy, the underlying story is sweet. We all have the power to make the changes we want and we create our own “magic”.
I enjoyed this! I wish it had been longer. I know it's the first book, but it ended so abruptly! I wanted more. Looking forward to Book 2! I won this off of a goodreads giveaway.
Very well written and I couldn’t put the book down. The main character is smart, funny, and caring. Cant wait to read the next book to see what happens next.
Super quick read, but delightful and well written. Honestly wished it was longer. A fun tale of a young witches foray into her “assignment” after magic school. I’m hoping there’s more to come, as I feel (hope) that there is a lot more to learn about Ms. Wartly.
For anyone who enjoys magic and a funny, smart heroine, this book is for you. Short and clean, so it’s suitable for younger audiences.
I received this book for free through Goodreads Giveaways. My opinions are my own.
Toadmila just graduated the top of her class. She lived in an orphanage but pulled herself up to graduate first in her class. It was time to reap the rewards of all her hard work in her first job - until the witch's world sent her to a dilapidated hut in the forest to be a witch for a village of witch burners.
The book was a short and fast read - the story was good, the action flowed well. The ending was good but a little abrupt. I would have liked more :-) looking forward to book 2!
*I got this book through GoodRead's Giveaways - an excellent source of interesting books!
