A Symphony of Sirens

Rate this book
To sing with your heart you must first learn to listen.

Sirens are some of the most dangerous denizens of the Beneath. So when they start going missing, it's assumed that a supremely powerful being is behind the disappearances. But who and why? As Elaria struggles to find answers to the siren situation, even more questions arise. Questions like: what kind of magic did the witch relic leave within her? And: what should she do about the three men who have become so important to her? One is her past, one: her present, and the third wants nothing more than to be her future. Can she find the solution in time to save her family? Or will love turn her symphony sour?

Amy Sumida is the Internationally Acclaimed author of the Award-Winning Godhunter Series, the fantasy paranormal Twilight Court Series, the Beyond the Godhunter Series, the music-oriented paranormal Spellsinger Series, the superhero Spectra Series, and several short stories. Her books have been translated into several languages, have won numerous awards, and are bestsellers. She believes in empowering women through her writing as well as providing everyone with a great escape from reality. Her stories are full of strong women and hot gods, shapeshifters, vampires, dragons, fairies, gargoyles... pretty much any type of supernatural, breathtakingly gorgeous man you can think of. Because why have normal when you could have paranormal?
Born and raised in Hawaii, Amy made a perilous journey across the ocean with six cats to settle in the beautiful state of Oregon which reminds her a lot of Hawaii but without the cockroaches or evil sand. When she isn't trying to type fast enough to get down everything the voices in her head are saying while her kitties try to sabotage her with cuteness, she enjoys painting on canvases, walls, and anything else that will sit still long enough for the paint to dry. She prefers antiques to modern furniture, tea to coffee, night to day, and Tom Hardy to Tom Hiddleston. No; Tom Hiddleston to Tom Hardy. No, wait... Tom Hardy and Tom Hiddleston to Tom Cruise. Yes, that's it.

Love this book! There's more world building and character and relationship development in this book. I understand more of each character's motives, and the writing is very easy to read. Torin is more bearable as well.

Summary:
Great world building
Good character development
Good relationship development

Sadly, Torin is still possessive, controlling, and has a bad temper. Torin doesn't completely trust her and feels that he needs to put a rein on her. Ellaria keeps a lot of secrets from Torin because she's scared of how he'll react, clearly a sign of an emotionally abusive relationship.

I’m not a fan of the RH being spelled into reality. I like my couples to have freewill & decide to have a polyamorous relationship.

Elaria is trying to find her missing relatives. No one knows who took them or why, and she's going to do everything she can in order to find them, no matter what it takes. But along the way she's having issues with three men who have her heart, and she doesn't know what to do about it.

This book was okay. I was a little disappointed with how the RH starts, but I did enjoy the book. I really liked the heroine, and I enjoyed how strong she is, and how she isn't going to take crap from anyone no matter who they are.

The only other thing that bothered me was this one feels similar to two of this author's other series, and while that necessarily isn't a bad thing, I don't want to have to feel like I'm re-reading those other series just a bit different. So, I'm hoping this one starts be very different from them.

Gahhhhh

So good! I'm so glad I finally decided to red this. I didn't want to originally, because the tribute to Hawaii (in each book) made me feel like it was another version of the Godhunter series, but I was having withdrawals from Amy's writing so I caved. Soooo glad I caved, like seriously.

As I mentioned Hawaii is in this series too, and it used to bug me, but now I think I would be disappointed if she stopped using it. It makes me smile now, its a signature Amy home base for some of my favorite heroines. Its almost like my security blanket for knowing I'm going to start an amazing adventure.

I am having withdrawals again, and now it is yet another series I'm impatiently waiting for. Well good news I will always be happy when something of Amy's comes out. Bad news that's a lot of impatiently waiting, and always wanting.

Not so sure about that ending...

KIndle Unlimited - Thank you.

5 stars until the relationship with Torin tanked. Pretty much of a heartbreaker. Just not sure that having Torin replaced by a fourth partner, even temporarily, is something that won't pretty much wreck the series for me. An easy substitution would trivialize the Banning and Declan relationships? Maybe it wouldn't be that hard to find a volunteer to take over the curse? Also felt kind of sorry for Sorin. I've liked Sumida's other works so I'll see where she goes with Book 3.

Sirens are going missing. All signs lead to a traitor in their midst. Elaria is determined to find out who is taking her family, especially when it hits a little too close to home. She's not working alone though. She's got Torin, Cer, Declan and Banning to help along the way. The more time she spends with the men, the more she learns about them, and herself. The relic may be gone but it didn't leave her the same.

I LOVED this book! Absolutely loved it. This is definitely my favorite series by Amy. While the first book introduced us to a few men, we only had a relationship with Torin. We get to see our RH kick into gear in this book. El is determined to follow what Torin wants and keep a monogamous relationship but her heart isn't getting the memo. Even still, she hangs on. Until something happens that takes all control out of her hands.

There is, as with all of Amy's books, lots of action and funny moments. We also have betrayal and heartache. While on small side missions that pop up on the way to finding the Sirens, we get to learn more about each man. Each of their pasts are full of surprises. We are left at the end not knowing where we stand on some points, one very very important point that I hope with everything in me Amy fixes in Book 3 and doesn't rip my heart out (hint hint Amy), and knowing exactly where we stand on others. That ending 🔥🔥🔥 so intense.

So all in all, no matter how you feel about Amy's other work, love it, hate it or never read it, READ THIS SERIES!!!

It's fantastic!

Oh yes, Amy Sumida does it again! One super enjoyable book! I already know my book boyfriends are fairies but now a blooder also. I think Elaria is funny! I giggled all day about one of her comments to Cerberus! I really want Torin back please! I like the action, the way the characters work together, the victories, and the romance!

Keeps getting better

I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series, and I think this one might be even better! Amy Sumida has a way of building worlds and characters that just draw you in - for those that haven't read her before, all of her series (Godhunter and Twilight Court) are wonderful as well and I highly recommend.

I wish the author had only written I had only read the first book in this series.

This author is talented. She had great ideas, original ideas that makes her world building skills top-notch. Her heroine is pretty great! I will admit, mercenary turned hero is pretty common, still, her magic makes her quite unique in urban fantasy.

The songs chosen are beautiful, and the heroine that can weave her magic in her songs is a wonderful concept! Not to mention, difficult to portray..... But this author does so quite well.

What got to me is

For those, who enjoy reverse harem books, this is exceptionally well written book, that they would certainly enjoy! I would definitely recommend this series to them. For others, I would recommend the first book in this series, and then advice them to go no further.

Cheers to this author, for her very original idea of magic!

In the book Elaria managed to undo the spell inside of her that bounded her to Torin by the relic.

The relic is the power of millions of witches all in one small necklace.

And she managed to undo the spell on her own. The spell from the power of many witches.

So then how in the ever loving fizzle can she not undo the spell from thomas !?

It is just one man ! If she can undo the spell of an ancient artifact that hold the power of not only one witch but hundreds or millions then why can’t she undo the spell of Thomas Frost !?

You see where I’m going here !?

I understand that the story is a reverse harem and the story had to find a way so that the woman can be with the mens in her life but at least do it so it makes sense.

It makes it seems as if Elaria isn’t powerful enough to undo the spell of one ice witch when she could undo the spell of the relic 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

I love this series. I saw that this was going to be a reverse harem and I was wondering how that was going to happen when the heroine of the story is already involved with someone who doesn't want to share at this point in the series. With out ruining anything I really liked how the heroine handles her business. The dialog is funny and makes me laugh out loud at times. The sex scenes are not too detailed which I like (although I would not mind more detail). I love the detail to the worlds themselves. I would give this book 4.5 stars because the villain of this story was a bit cliche, over the top, and bit too unbelievable in my opinion.

I am conflicted. I love Amy Sumida, specially the Godhunter series. But in this one I don't know if it is because we have not reached the acceptance about her future harem... together with the fact that although I like music I do not know that much about it and all those key moments with songs in battle fly right by me and they take away from the drama she builds. They become intangible and kind of anticlimatic.

Hmmm... not sure

I read the first set of this author's books. They're captivating but predictable. The protagonist in both sets quickly become tedious when the author 'bigs their power up' but makes them always unable to control themselves around men. Which is infuriating. I'll read the next one... but not happy with them turning a powerful siren into a bit of a nympho!

This was so much fun to read. I highly recommend looking up the Spotify list that accompanies it. It was really fun to take a break and listen to the songs mentioned it out having to look them up. Love this series so far, super excited to start the next one.

Better than the first!

This was good. It was better than the first, since we knew the characters and the world. Again, it was well-written just like the first book, and very different from other books, even RH. Can't wait for the next one.

Loved book one, hated the direction this story went with the polygamy. REALLY hope the next book finds a way to gey back to a traditional love story.
