A second chance with my brother's best friend? A fake arrangement. A miracle pregnancy. Maybe my luck is finally coming around...
Reilly O'Hara's the biggest man I've ever known. He's a drool-worthy Irish stud, and my new boss. Five years ago, I left town, leaving my dreams of him behind. But a stroke of bad luck brought me back home and landed him in my bedroom. That night he stole a kiss and reignited my buried passion...
Turns out Reilly's carrying a billion-dollar secret. And he needs a wife by St. Patrick's Day. I couldn't let anyone else play the part. Safe to say, things got out of hand... Can you guess who's the lucky daddy?
🍀Is this 👥couple lucky or stubbornly clueless?!😕 March 11, 2019 Format: Kindle Edition 3.5🌟stars😍😵🔥 I usually love R.S. Lively romances. They have lots of emotion, likable principal characters and 💚heart along with 🔥heat. This one had all of that and its good points, but it also went a bit overboard with too much worry and waffling by the MCs.
I found the premise okay and Mills, heroine Gwen's BFF was a snarky, outspoken, humorous sidekick. Hero Reilly has some very moving moments to survive, but he also makes some clueless moves.
There was an awfully huge heap of self-created angst thanks to Gwen and Reilly's refusal to just talk to Gwen's brother. I like some angst in my romance reading; obstacles overcome makes the HEA all the sweeter. But in Lucky Daddy I had to start skimming through the pages of introspection and hand wringing over the forbidden nature of any relationship between them. There were some inconsistencies in the story (one related to when Anthony learns of Reilly's mother's move). I also question naming the story Lucky Daddy, which implies that a greater portion of the story related to parenthood, and really disliked the constant use of "ye" to denote Reilly's Irish roots. This one little word kept distracting me and created a mental burp before I could go on. 😐
This story just dragged on too long with too much waffling and self flagellation; even the frequent, passionate clinches could not make up for the foolishness of this couple.
I read a complimentary copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Here we have our h, an adult - a teacher - who moves home again, and reunites with the man she has loved for years. Our H - another adult, business owner - has just learned he has inherited billions of dollars. They actually talk to each other, and discover they have both been attracted to the other for years. So, what do they do? Decide it must remain a secret, of course. Why? So her brother/his best friend won’t find out, and disapprove of their relationship. Yeah. Just, no. Too silly, too immature, too, too much. At about the thirty percent point, I said ‘No more’ and deleted it from my kindle.
This book starts with tears and ends with smiles. Gwen loses her job and must move back home. She left home because she wanted more than her small town could offer. In addition she wanted to start fresh and get over her crush on Reilly, her brother's best friend. She had to leave the life she built her students. Reilly lost his grandfather. They were extremely close and he was devastated. Little did both of them know that those devastating circumstances would lead to great things. They stayed away from each other for years because they believed her brother would be against them being together. Gwen actually thought Reilly disliked her. IN this book we get a secret romance, miracles laughs and tears and some sexy times with an Irish/Italian billionaire. and some sexy times. this book is emotional, fun, and sexy. All the things to keep the reader interested.
This. Was. Awful. I wasn't expecting much to begin with as this writer's style hasn't wowed me in the past, but still...ugh. The plot was a hot mess. There was zero chemistry. There was so much avoidable drama that it legitimately pissed me off. This author has a thing about not using contractions, so the dialogue is always stiff, awkward, and just not believable. It's distracting. It's something I can ignore if there are good characters and a decent plot, but unfortunately, those things weren't present. Incredibly frustrating characters. Bunch of unbelievable dumbasses. I guess I'm just going to blacklist this author.
I have a double feeling with this book. It has two main characters who have an invariably good chemistry with each other. But because he is the best friend of her brother, she wants to keep it a secret. Why?? Both do not dare to tell him, they are making a very big drama about that. It feels double because she can read away the rest of the story line. All other characters in the book come into their own as well as the events. That's why I think of 3 stars ... I'm probably not like the drama at the moment and this book has a lot.
Lucky Daddy is Worthy of Way More than 5-Stars Quite simply said. this is R.S. Lively's best written book to date, Lucky Daddy is a magnificent read! Lucky Daddy is a full length read, and this best of the best RomCom fits into so many romance genre's, second chance romance, brothers best friend & surprise baby. Holy heck, how are all those genre's possible in 1 book, it only goes to prove that R.S. Lively is one fabulous, amazing, terrific, author. An amazing storyline & plot plus told in dual POVs by wonderful, well developed characters; what more can readers want with this swoon-worthy, panty melting, roller coaster ride of emotions in Lucky Daddy! R.S. Lively you have outdone yourself with this one. Just to give you some idea, Reilly & Gwen have had a thing for each other for years, but, always from afar, neither felt they could tell the other or anyone else for that matter so neither confided in anyone. There was no way either would or could act upon their feelings, after all, they grew up together, Reillly was always at Gwen & Anthony's house, it felt as if Reilly was their adopted brother, and, Gwen's brother Anthony was Reilly's beat friend and Reilly wouldn't go against bro code. All those years swallowing their feelings, until Gwen went away to college & stayed away for her first job. I don't want to give any more than I already have. What happens when Gwen returns home, several years later? Reilly's hotter than every, and his Irish accent, it's woon-worthy & panty-melting! But, Reilly is reeling over his grandfather recent, unexpected death. He's also working to keep his grandfather's beloved bar afloat. Then, Reilly gets the shock of a lifetime, his grandfather won the lottery years ago, invested wisely, left Reilly billions, but, he also left some unusual terms to his will. What were those terms & would Reilly be able to keep his grandfather's bar that he loved. With Reilly and Gwen's sizzling connection & crackling chemistry set to detonate, what's the future hold for these two? What will Anthony think of his little sister & his best friend together? Will he accept if they were to have a relationship or are they doomed from the start? Could they ever get to their HEA? What a bumpy, twisted ride of emotions pricipated by one touch, one kiss, cause deep down they both have known for years, they have an unbreakable bond & a magicial connection that will last a lifetime! No question, I would absolutely recommend Lucky Daddy by R.S. Lively. I did receive an advanced copy from the author but also purchase my own copy of this fantastic book, and, am voluntarily leaving my own opinion with my voluntary review.
I did not like this one. I won’t lie; the cover of this book drew me in right away. That cover model, whoever he is, is gorgeous. He’s a perfect Reilly. I hated the cheesy title, though. It’s inaccurate. The marriage wasn’t until 88% in, and the pregnancy wasn’t until 90% in. It needs a new title. Maybe “Luck of the Irish” would’ve been better.
I have to stop reading the books Facebook suggests to me. This wasn’t a bad book, but the two main characters have to be two of the stupidest people on the planet.
The heroine’s best friend says, “It’s only complicated because you guys make it complicated. It’s so annoying. Really. I never met two people who wanted to be together so much but ignored it for no good reason.“
The hero and heroine spent most of the book worrying about how their dating would affect her brother. Who cares about the brother? If you love each other, go for it. They were back and forth so many times I got dizzy. It was a big fuss for nothing. The brother was dumb as a rock, too. Everyone in the entire town knew that they were together except for the brother. Seriously?
The epilogue was also poorly written and disappointing. They felt like entirely different characters.
Lucky Daddy by R. S. Lively is one steamy read about Gwen, a young teacher who relocates back to her parents’ home when she loses her job in Portland, and Reilly her brother’s BFF who has been harboring a secret love for her for some ten years. She moved away so to avoid her secret crush on him but everything is about to change. Their sexual chemistry is 5 star but their failure to grasp every moment together rather than deal with revealing their relationship to her brother nearly drove me to distraction. Their were no surprises with the storyline but that doesn’t mean this was anything less than a satisfying read. There were some editing errors that brought this to a 4 star review for me. I’ll still look forward to more of R. S. Lively’s work!
This book is a happy book, with a entertaining story of falling in love with my brother’s best friend or sister as this narratives comes from both perspectives. It’s well written and thought through, the Irish lilt isn’t over stated so it is still easy to read. The plot runs at a satisfying pace and the action is varied and unexpected. The characters are endearing and the sex scenes are fairly steamy although on occasion the comparative to flowers came in which is my personal pet hate, but all in all definitely a very good book!
This could be a second chance story. But they never got together back when she was younger. But now years later she is back in town. He just lost his grandpa. And when the will is read he finds out that he grandpa had lots of secrets. One mandating that he be married before St Patrick's day. Can he get her to agree to a sham wedding? Or can she convince him that it is rwal?
This book goes back and forth. You are hating it one page and love it the next. It took me to half way through to really like it. Both main characters ran hot and cold with their feelings. They were worried about the ones brother and his feelings. Kinda feel the ball was dropped there I have it 4stars but more I like 3 and 3/4 stars
Best friends sister romance. And a surprise baby. This story about Reilly and Gwen was fun. I smiled through most of it. There was drama too of course. Pleasure to read. Hot Irishman with the accent and hot sex. Really is a dream come true. I would absolutely recommend this book. I loved it and couldn’t put it down.
The cover model is smoking hot! The story grows on you once you come to terms with Gwen and Lucky being immature. Thank goodness Lucky climb through Gwen's window when she returned home from being gone for five years. If not, I don't think I would have been able to finish reading the story based on their decisiveness.
I have read all if R S Lively's books and this is my favorite. I was tearing up relating to the beginning and laughing out loud with the banter between the characters. I read it in pretty much one sitting, could not put it down and hated that it ended.
Good story about true love and Reilly and Gwen not wanting to hurt her brother. Love is love. I did not like how they kept going back and forth with their feelings and passion. They wanted each other but not enough to hurt Anthony. What!! They were grown. Mills was so funny. I loved her. I enjoyed the story.
I loved this story about Reily and Gwen who have loved each other from afar for years and never did anything about it. I could just hear Reilly’s Irish accent! Great book!
I loved this book. With our sexy Irish/Italian. Really stole my heart. He’s loved completely and feels deeply wanting what’s best for all. It just took him and his Gwenie a while to figure out what they wanted mattered as much. Great story.
Oh yum! Not only is the cover amazing but the story is too. I love Reilly. The push pull relationship that he and Gwen have makes me want to smack both upside the head so they just get on with it. It is an easy read and I could not put it down.
Great story focusing on his Irish heritage. He really tried to respect his best friend by not going after his sister (epic fail). They were so focused on the reaction from her brother when everyone else knew that they were into each other.
This was a pretty cute book. It had some nice twists and turns that weren’t expected. Gwen can be irritating at times, and seems a little immature. I gave it 4 out of 5 for the title. I wish it didn’t have (daddy) in it. It kinda gives it away. Still, a pretty good read.
The author just gets better and better. I was laughing so much with now the characters are towards each other. The love between Gwen and Reilly is just so hot! It’s a must read
This was absolutely wonderful and I couldn't put it down. Reilly and Gwen's story was perfect. The sexy Irish/Italian is definitely swoon worthy. Reilly will be a great next boyfriend. Great job!
This was a frustrating story it was like they purposely didn't want to get together. I wish he would just have taken control and initiative to go to Anthony.
This book got my attention and kept it! The storyline is relatable! I read it and I felt each emotion that Gwen and Rielly felt! My favorite book by R.S. Lively!
I stayed up WAY to late because I couldn't put his book down! There is so much heart written into these characters. The plot is well crafted with realistic dialogue. This a can't miss!
