Eist and company are back at the dragon rider academy for another term. Eist has a dream that enemy forces surround the city of Margaid, and are planning to destroy it before moving on to the capital. The adult dragon riders and the high council follow Eist’s vision and fly to Margaid to meet the enemy forces. But Dille realizes that the enemy sent Eist the vision to lure the protection they had in the capitol away. So, Eist and her company head to the castle at the heart of the capitol to face the enemy forces on their own.
Admittedly, I didn’t care for this installment as much as previous installments. As someone else commented, it’s pretty much just non-stop action. Which would be fine, but the action in this is muddled and not really described other than to tell us who does what and there’s a mess of magic being thrown around, and then there’s a really odd jump for some characters. I kept getting the Fool and the sorcerer mixed up. And I didn’t really hear what happened to anyone else in the castle. In theory there should have been plenty of people there, specifically Yachrist’s parents. I did love Eist’s emotions toward the end (though I was surprised she wasn’t furious at Athar). And it really does feel like the Harry Potter books with jumping head-long into danger without any planning. Just determination, which by all rights shouldn’t be victorious against the evil forces if they are really as powerful as they are described.
I am so invested in this series now. The engaging characters and whirlwind action packed plot just keeps me gripped to the pages. So excited to read the next book?
Summary: Simple coming of age type book, potential for better things so I'll keep going in this series, not sure about dragons. We'll see. Some of the characters are a bit 2 dimensional. Book 5 continues the theme, a bit more on magic and the blight
Plotline: Very simple plot for this first, very short, book. Ditto book 5
Premise: Dragons. Magic and the blight...
Writing: Simple, descriptive, light
Ending: Well highly predictable, title gives it away really.
This is book #5 of the Brindle Dragon series. This one is almost non-stop action. We find out even more about our characters and their capabilities. The evil sorcerer is back and tries again to kill Eist, but Eist realizes that she has magic inside her and uses it to defend herself against him. Once again, she is horribly injured, but she manages to fight on. In the end, Fior is finally a grown up dragon and Dille is a grown woman. I really liked this book, and I can't wait to see what happens next.
Things are changing...not necessarily for the better!
Things are moving quickly for Eist and her band of friends. Year four starts like a normal academy year, with training and camaraderie, until all hell, aka magic, breaks loose. Too many spoilers for me to say much more, but I love how things progress, even the bad parts. The characters grow, their powers and skills, as well. Some startlingly so. Ok...off to start reading Book 6! As with the rest of the series, I really recommend this to dragon lovers of all ages!
I honestly hated the ending of this book. I was okay with the other's books but this one was just horrible. What they did to her after everything that she went through was just not right. It was over the top. First off she should have killed her little male friends for trying to pull her back from saving her dragon and after her power building for so many years she should have had enough power to kill the sorcerer
This is a great story and has outstanding characters which I love. Them coming of age and growing as individuals makes the telling of this story even better. Other than that little blup with the short story not being listed (cause it was a continuation of the story and was not any where to be found), this is an outstanding series. Great Reading Everyone!
Everything is changing, and Not changing, at the Academy. The council refused to even think about the possibility of magic existing. Eist and her friends know better. They are the ones who have fought it, but they are afraid to tell the council. Read to find out happens!
What an ending that would eclipse all others. I truly have loved reading this entire series of books. All of the other characters felt real and believable. It is hoped that one day soon, Jada will return to these series of books. I just loved these warriors and their corresponding dragons.
Picked up the first one on a whim and immediately hooked on this great group of friends. Finished this one and looked for the next. Imagine my dismay when I realized this is it for now. Sigh. Great series. Full Friendship and fantasy, both whimsical and captivating.
Everything that could go wrong does. I am impressed by the surprises and devastation. I always thought there would be a release for E. So it goes. Anxiously await the 6th book. Ty MS Fisher once again for action, adventure and the magic of each written word.
I love this book .Ass kicking fast ending, that leaves you wanting more.Characters are phenomenal . I love magic, takes me away from daily life. This series is a must read for all magic lovers.Deserves a 10 rating.
What a story. I was on the edge of my seat during the battle hope that Eist would finally be able to defeat the wicked sorcerer. I was definitely not ready for this ending. Totally mesmerising. Highly recommended.
One of the best dragon rider books that I have read. I like it as much as Eragon and I have read and listened to it several times. I like the main character of Eist. She is a fierce fighter. She will do all that she can to protect her friends and her dragon.
Simple straightforward plot unfortunately littered with details that contradict the previous books. If you choose to ignore those inconsistencies it's a quick paced story that's starting to deliver on some of the potential the previous books teased
This was a great story, although I would actually say it was more of a chapter than a whole book.. I read it in less than one hour. It would actually be more interesting if the author would have made it a lot longer. I will be reading the next book😁
Action Packed! Her fourth year starts out with Eist finally receiving her halberd and proceeds on with trainings & preparations for battle. Visions lead to danger, discoveries, unimaginable loss, recovery, destruction, and finally disaster. Impossible to put down!
So so exciting..love the storyline, love the characters and the way the author writes about them. Reading about the changes as they mature, the fights with the bad guys...so very hard to stop reading this series...I mean really, who needs to sleep!
This was a bit of a blur of just chaotic fighting. Athar is starting to get on my nerves for manhandling and being overprotective in regard to Eist. He accuses Yacrist of being possessive and controlling which is completely valid, though Athar is also quite controlling.
While the books are good, the downside is they're four bucks each, and they're more like a novella than a novel. Unfortunately that cost adds up... but if you enjoy a good fantasy series. That's an easy read this one's for you
I really loved this series I can't wait for the book 6, Jada Fisher has a wonderful imagination and the ability to put it words Thank you for sharing your talents
