Benjamin's Balloon by Alan Baker is another great tale about Benjamin. Benjamin overinflates his balloon, floats high, and then crashlands into snow. To get home he makes an airplane out of snow, which he crash lands. He finally creates a most excellent snow sculpture of himself.

The realistic illustrations are a highlight of this short, fun fantasy adventure.

For ages 3 to 6, and fans of Benjamin and Alan Baker.

Um, no. Nice artwork, but the story itself is awful.

Benny here looks to be a Syrian or golden hamster. They evolved to live in a desert -- not in a winter wonderland.

I understand this is meant to be "whimsical", but let's not give any sadistic kids ideas, okay, folks?

When my Benjamin was 3 or 4 we read it but didn't love love love it; now he is an emerging reader he brought it home from the school library and couldn't stop reading it to himself, to me and to everyone in the house. For older fans of the Rabbit series, since it has the balloons and same the 'realistic' drawing style.
