This second offering of poetry by Following Whispers, is a collection with a seemingly dark undertone to it. The poems do however come from seeking resolutions to personal turmoil; striving for personal growth; challenging the status quo; observing the World around us, and how we interact with it and one another; wrestles with love and its imposters for a while, before touching on marriage and parenthood; and speaks on the morality of a man's character; the pain of losing a loved one, eventually making peace with this heartache; and many other important topics. Although some effort has been made to use language in a way that is less offensive to others, this book does address many adult issues openly and honestly, so it is therefore not recommended for younger audiences. The poet's number one intention with "Confront The Shadows", is to encourage us all to face our fears and confront the darkness that lingers and holds us back, thus allowing us to begin creating a happier, more fruitful life for ourselves and others. Following Whispers wishes for you to join him on this very important poetic journey, in order to learn more about him, this World we call home, and more importantly, yourself. Just remember to bring a torch along with you... let the quest begin!
Hello, I'm Following Whispers, an English poet and author who has been writing poetry for over twenty years.
Being raised solely by my Mum was a blessing in disguise, as in addition to living with someone who was worthy of being called my Best Friend, it also gave me a sensitive side, which helped me become the emotionally balanced young man I am today. I find that embracing my feminine side gives me a greater strength of character and clarity of vision.
I'm a self-professed Geek who can get deep sometimes, but I personally don't take myself too seriously, I just love to have fun, inspire myself and others, plus be inspired by others. In my early twenties, I realised that beauty can be born out of not only love, but also pain and other motivations. The more I used writing poetry to make sense of my busy mind, the more it helped me to find a silver lining in even the darkest emotions, experiences, observations and topics; find positivity even in the face of extreme negativity; find strength when I was being forced to feel weak; and find hope that my tomorrows would be brighter.
I have recently taken the brave step of putting a collection of my poems out there for all to enjoy, by publishing them. This debut of mine, entitled "Proceed With Awesome" (available as an eBook from Amazon, Kobo, iBooks, Google Play and Barnes and Noble, plus as a paperback from all reputable bookstores), is an honest, quirky, somewhat philosophical emotional roller-coaster, with poems that for the most part end on a more positive or resolute note. I have bared my soul in these poems and I'm confident that you'll get just as much from reading and empathising with them, as I did from writing them... enjoy!
