An inspiring, practical A-Z guide for encouraging graduates as they confront chaotic life change, this volume is full of time-tested truths that will spark godly journeys into life, making readers confident and excited about what lies ahead.
The God's Road Map series are collections of Scripture, illustrative Bible story, and prayers targeted a specific groups- in this case, Grads. A cute gift for my recently graduated sister, thought I. However, skimming through this book as well as God's Road Map for Women led me to this conclusion: It all seems rather contrived. Particularly annoying to me are the prayers. I honestly believe prayer should come from the heart, not repeated verbatim or read from a book (unless that book is the Bible).
Can't you just feel the authors forcing morals down your throat and attempting to coat with sugar, yet failing miserably?
Heavenly Father: It's so nice after a long, hard week to kick back and be entertained by movies, video games, the Internet, or music. I know it's okay to relax, but sometimes I can become numb to the danger lurking within certain forms of entertainment....
Gotta love this pearl of wisdom:
Heavenly Father: Everyone wants to be a success in life, including me, but there seems to be different standards of what that really means. When I see people driving luxury cars, wearing designer clothes, and living in the finest homes, they look like the picture of success. And that's what most people would say. But there has to be more to it than that-even a criminal can look good!
Pretty insightful. Each double-page spread deals with a different aspect of life after college--like Time, Work, Faith, Relationships, etc.--and gives Scripture verses that apply to each one. Some topics also have prayers to ask for help with that particular thing and a response from God. You can read them all at once or once a day. I thought it was a good source of spiritual encouragement. (April 2009)
