Eden was the last known city on Earth. It had been four hundred years since humans gathered together and built the wall. The one that sealed the remaining people inside. More importantly, it kept the Tainted out. Soldiers who had been infused with the abilities of supernatural beings to help their sides win The Great War. That was before they turned against the humans.Leeya Harkins always believed the stories about people inside the city displaying Tainted abilities was just that. A story, fairy tales to keep children in line. Especially the part about the government secretly killing them, along with the rest of their family. That was until the day her twin sister did something remarkable. Impossible. If the rumors were correct, that must mean the others were too. The ones about the secret city outside of the wall. A city of Tainted. The only place they would be safe now.Leeya would do anything to save her sister from the fate that awaited her in Eden. But does that include sacrificing the life of another?
Four hundred years ago the few humans left came together and built a wall around the last city on Earth, Eden. The goal was to keep the people inside and the “tainted” out.The tainted were enhance with superhuman powers to help them win the Great War, but in the end had turned against the humans. Leeya Harkins had always thought the stories were fairytales until her identical twin got powers. There were rumours about a city of tainted outside the walls where they would be safe. Only their plans at escape didn’t work out the the way they planned.
This is a paranormal romance, fantasy adventure that is full of great characters. The characters are well crafted with interesting personalities including strengths and weaknesses. The narrative is from Leeya’s point of view. Through her eyes we see a whole new world appear and the growth of her characters as she navigates the situation she is put in and new romantic emotions that are building. The author weaves a storyline full of surprises, the unexpected, action, betrayals, danger, romance and suspense in a world full of paranormal activity. I found Leeya’s internal dialogue to be fascinating as she weighs what she needs to do to save her sister with the impact on the others she has grown to care for. I look forward to the next instalment in the very engaging story.

This is my first time reading this author and I found this book to have an interesting plot. It’s set in the future and humans were in a number of wars, to win they used a process that gave some supernatural abilities. The problem was that those with the new supernatural abilities decided to turn against the still regular humans and so a wall was built around the city where the humans lived, Eden. The humans referred to those with supernatural abilities as being the “Tainted”, hence the title. As with all closed off society’s rumors start to spread, and one was that the “Tainted” still existed and had their own city. The problem with rumors is that there are always people who want to prove or disprove them. I found this to be an interesting read and it held my attention throughout.

Literally the best series I’ve EVER read. I absolutely adore the characters and the beautifully painted and described scenery of the series. Jenn Vakey is masterful in how she writes and words her books, I was hooked from start to finish and didn’t sleep for days while I read the entire series! I’m absolutely positive Jenn should be heralded for this series and is up there with the likes of JK Rowling and Stephanie Meyers .... Tainted World blows Harry Potter and Twilight out of the water.
An awesome start to a fabulous series. I found this book to be well-written and filled with action and adventure. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and will be reading the next books in the series to follow them. Fabulous!
