When Captain Ritcherd Buchanan finally finds Kyrah, the woman he loves, on the other side of the Atlantic, they are still a very long way from the idyllic life that both had dreamed of. In a world turned inside out by war, treachery, and his own deep hatred for the evil Peter Westman, who had married Kyrah under false pretenses and viciously abused her, Ritcherd tumbles into an emotional maelstrom that uproots the anger and bitterness of his callous and aristocratic upbringing. The situation is further complicated by evidence that Captain Garret, his closest and truest friend, has fallen for Kyrah. Through the course of uncovering long-buried secrets, Ritcherd discovers an entirely new perspective on his unique bond with Garret, who has his own score to settle with Peter Westman. In the end, the truth and its consequences are staggering.
Anita Stansfield, the LDS market's #1 best-selling romance novelist, is an imaginative and prolific writer whose romantic stories have captivated her readers.
"With sales approaching a half million, Anita Stansfield has clearly found a niche in this market," said Nicole Martin, Publicist for Covenant Communications. "Her popularity stems from her ability to empathize with and write about the issues that LDS women deal with on a daily basis."
"I always write for women like me. It's through my interaction with other women that I've found there are some personal and emotional struggles that are typical," said Anita Stansfield. "I hope my writing makes women feel better about themselves and shows them these real problems can be solved through gospel principles."
I loved this book!!! No exception to any other book i have read by anita stansfield!!! I am reading it again and I can't wait!!! It is like a new adventure each time!!! I recommend this book to anyone and everyone even though it is a romance story it can teach us all something in a way. Something that we all need to learn weather it be the patience, understanding, love, or anything else that others and I have gained from this book!!! I loved every minute and hope that you will all take my suggestion and pick up this book and take something to heart and mind while reading it!!!
I love the characters in this series, especially Captain Garrett. This book, however, just wasn't very well written. Christian themes are great but best served subtly. These, as well as many points of dialogue and theme were repeated to the point of redundancy.
Ritcherd and Kyrah have found each other but that doesn't mean life is a bed of roses for them. They finally are on the ship and heading back to England - but there are emotions and feelings and struggles to go through that make the journey long and hard. Will Ritcherd and Kyrah ever be together - the evil Peter is making sure that doesn't happen. They finally arrive in England - will Ritcherd be able to forgive his mother; how can Ritcherd and Kyrah ever marry is she can't get divorced from Peter because of the laws of the land. But the miracles that happen to enable Ritcherd and Kyrah to get together are ever plentiful. Quite an emotional book overcoming weaknesses, deceit, learning the truth...the story keeps going.
I ve enjoyed following kyrah and captain Buchanan's lifes journey. Lots of unexpected happenings and relationships. Hoping the 3rd book brings more of the same. Well written, more than a simple romance. 5 stars
Read this once years ago. Read it again only because I'm working on a book blog dedicated to the author and all her works. Every Anita Stansfield book summarized here: www.anitastansfieldfan.blogspot.com This is the sequel to "The Captain of Her Heart" published by an independent house (Not LDS) following star crossed lovers Kyrah and Ritcherd, cruelly separated in the last book, now reunited and trying very hard to incorporate their lives together before they can finally be married. Since this is an Anita Stansfield book, be prepared for endless pages of talking, emotional angst and soap opera drama. Ritcherd's mother also has change of heart, wanting to earn everyone's forgiveness. Will she succeed? Since there are some adult themes in this book-an out-of-wedlock birth, consumption of alcohol-I would not recommend this book, or its predecessor, to readers under age sixteen. The sheer wordiness of the text makes for tedious reading anyway. Very easy to skim and finish in a few days. Unless you're trying to summarize it.
Book 2 of this series. Another suspenseful plot with the characters I’ve grown to love--Kyrah, Ritcherd, Captain Garrett. The villain is intense, the problems immense, and the need to finish this book so you can sleep at night will guarantee you read it super fast like I did. In this one, Kyrah escapes the Colonies with her Captain, but are chased down by the scoundrel, Peter Westman. He’s such an evil villain. You will want to boo and hiss for him every time he shows his slimy face in the book. Trapped in a marriage that she despises, Kyrah is still unable to marry the man she has loved all her life, Ritcherd. I love this series.
This was Volume 2 in the Buchanan Saga - 2 more books to go! This volume spent a lot of time on the importance of forgiveness - both of others, and of yourself. There were times when I felt too much time was spent on this - but then, that is something that really does take time to come to an understanding of that principle.
I think I liked this book even better than the first. I like that the hero isn't perfect, but continues to learn and grow. I also enjoy many of the other characters besides the main two. I anticipate another story developing about Captain Garret. I am very interested in his character. I look forward to the rest of the series.
Kyrah's had to grow up quickly and confronts Ritcherd with the reality of their situation during their voyage back to England. Ritcherd must do some major soul-searching in order to save their relationship. The crew of the "Phoenix" are laughable and lovable.
Contrary to what Goodreads says, it is available for Kindle because I got it last month on mine. I enjoyed the first one more but this had a lot of excitement in it too. It showed the depths one could go for real love and devotion.
I like that people actually suffer consequences for their actions in Anita's books. I also like the intensity and the mystery - in this series especially.
I loved it. I love that the major characters struggle and things don't come easy to them. I don't like how the baby was bearly mentioned the first couple of chapters
I love how clean these books are and yet the reader understands the tension in the situation. This story had twists and turns at the end, but it wasn't trite.
