"My greatest purpose for writing this book is to offer women like myself a handful of thoughts that might uplift and enrich, open minds and hearts, and give us something to think about. My personal struggles and insights are not necessarily any more profound than those of any other women, but I believe they illustrate typical patterns of opposition and trial that we can all relate to and learn from at some level. While many of my thoughts in this book are related to my experiences as a mother, my hope is that each thought I have to offer will contain a tidbit of value for every woman who might read it - old or young, married or single, with children or without. No matter our differences in personality, opportunities, or challenges, we're all women. We all have tender hearts, strong spirits, and a desire to do the best we can with what we have to work with. We're all daughters of God. We're all trying to get the same place. And we're all struggling in one way or another." Having sold over 1,000,000 books, author Anita Stansfield is one of the most widely read women in the Church. This tender gift book offers an upclose look at the woman behind the best-selling novels, and the priceless lessons she has learned along the way.
Anita Stansfield, the LDS market's #1 best-selling romance novelist, is an imaginative and prolific writer whose romantic stories have captivated her readers.
"With sales approaching a half million, Anita Stansfield has clearly found a niche in this market," said Nicole Martin, Publicist for Covenant Communications. "Her popularity stems from her ability to empathize with and write about the issues that LDS women deal with on a daily basis."
"I always write for women like me. It's through my interaction with other women that I've found there are some personal and emotional struggles that are typical," said Anita Stansfield. "I hope my writing makes women feel better about themselves and shows them these real problems can be solved through gospel principles."
Fans of "old school" Anita Stansfield will enjoy these personal stories about how she came to write some of her earliest best-sellers and what I consider some of her best work including her first four titles: First Love and Forever, First Love Second Chances, Now and Forever, and By Love and Grace. Fun facts include some of the personal struggles she was going through during the writing process. The most memorable being when her 1993 computer processor crashed, she ended up writing those four titles and the working manuscript for what would become Gables Against the Sky all on a used $8 typewriter with a malfunctioning letter "P". How many of us wish she would go back to using that old typewriter and bring back the classic romance sans "the cheese" that won her so many loyal fans in the first place.
This book was different from her others. This was about her life and how she got to where she is now. I like the last few chapters it was interesting to know that it took her 16 years before any publisher excepted her books. I did not care for the chapter where she told about her days as a writer and mom.
This book is basically an encouraging and uplifting non-fiction book for LDS women. I enjoyed it. It wasn't anything earthshattering, but it was good. It made me think about what my purpose is in life and how I can make a difference.
Anita Stansfield says that the greatest purpose of writing this book is to offer women like herself a handful of thoughts that might uplift and enrich, open minds and hearts, and to give us something to think about.
If you have read many of Anita's books, you will get a kick out of these insights into her life as a writer with children and challenges. Very humerous and fun to read.
I loved the "Relief Society Moments". This is "two women, touching in spirit for a moment to answer each other's prayers... That's what the Relief Society is all about."
