In a rush of heart-stopping adventure, this thrilling continuation of the Buchanan Saga begins as a member of Garret Wentworth’s sailing crew is killed under mysterious circumstances, and Garret himself visits the man’s daughter in America to deliver the unfortunate news. Brandy Ashton instantly takes Garret’s breath away, but he just as quickly learns that her heart is already taken by none other than a philandering cad who is the mastermind behind a worldwide smuggling operation, with Brandy in the center as an unwitting pawn.
As Garret, smitten by this beautiful, courageous, and good-hearted woman, fights to protect her from a danger she doesn’t understand, he prays she will hear the truth her heart is trying to tell her—before it’s too late. In a fierce battle between good and evil, Garret and those he loves lay their very lives on the line, and a tragic end could come at any moment. After years of searching for his soul mate, and then finding her, has he come this far only to lose it all in a single catastrophic moment?
Anita Stansfield, the LDS market's #1 best-selling romance novelist, is an imaginative and prolific writer whose romantic stories have captivated her readers.
"With sales approaching a half million, Anita Stansfield has clearly found a niche in this market," said Nicole Martin, Publicist for Covenant Communications. "Her popularity stems from her ability to empathize with and write about the issues that LDS women deal with on a daily basis."
"I always write for women like me. It's through my interaction with other women that I've found there are some personal and emotional struggles that are typical," said Anita Stansfield. "I hope my writing makes women feel better about themselves and shows them these real problems can be solved through gospel principles."
I loved the story of Captain Garrett and his adventures in love. Lots of great action and twists and turns lead to a miraculous ending. Can't wait for the next installment. I hope the doctor finds a sweethear next.
Very similar to the other books with just other characters doing the action. It gets just to the point of too much and then resolves. I did like these characters and am enjoying the family enlarging. The villain is pretty bad and very good at manipulating others.
I had to buy this book from Amazon because it is no longer in print and the Salt Lake County library system no longer has it in circulation. Technically, "Hearts Crossed" is the last "hard copy" book in the Buchanan Saga. There is a #5, "The Captain's Rose" but only available in digital, a format I'm still not interested in reading. I prefer my books in 3D. In this book, now that Kyrah and Ritcherd's dramatics have been resolved, we can finally get our Most Eligible Bachelor married off and about time too. Garret Wentworth has been a menace to society for far too long. How fortunate one of his American shipmates has a single daughter just his age, Brandy (a fine girl what a good wife she would be...doooo dootdoot dooo do do...yes, this book comes with a theme song). Except Brandy is in grave danger and needs rescuing at every turn. While it is very easy for Captain Garrett to fall head over heels in love, Brandy is determined to stay true to her own Captain Andrew Cross, a man notorious for always getting what he wants and who may, or may not, have murdered Brandy's father in cold blood thus throwing her into Garret's waiting arms. The sequence of getting rid of Andrew Cross so they can all live happily ever after is, to be honest, lame. Read this book, only if you've developed an unhealthy obsession with these characters and MUST know what happens next. Like all previous Anita Stansfield novels, there is no sex or swearing but the book does take a dark turn in the third act when Brandy takes matters into her own hands with a pistol while confronting Andrew Cross. Wonder Woman eat your heart out! The romance also expands to include kissing between not just Garret and Brandy but Brandy and Andrew too! Oh my!
Well, this is your typical LDS romance. I read this book because my sister insisted I read and I was like "Okay! I love LDS romance! This will be great!" It was a good book. Very romantic, very religious, etc. etc. etc.
However, I felt that this book just kept on going and going and going. It wasn't bad. It was good and it was sweet and the characters were just fine. Everything was just fine. And, really, probably everybody loves this book except for me.
So ‘can’t-put-the-book-down’ good. This story follows Captain Garrett as he FINALLY finds the love of his life. Like the others, there are lots of obstacles to overcome, action, intrigue, murder and lots of the good old “go after the one you love no matter what it costs” scenes. Sigh. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this whole series.
I got it from the library and began reading it, needless to say I had already read it. It was a good book and I almost kept going just to reread it, but decided there are many more that I would like to get read.
One of my favorite Anita Stansfield books! I like this whole series, but I think this is my favorite of the four. Maybe that's because you've had 3 entire books of growing to like Garrett before he finally finds someone. Good clean romance with a lot of adventure.
I got kind of frustrated with this one, I really expected her to kill Garrett. I really liked his character but I think it might have had more of an effect on me had he actully died. Sill a good series overall.

This is my favorite book of the series. Garret is my favorite character too. He finally finds the woman of his dreams, but he has to fight very hard for her. This was a wonderful conclusion to a great series.
I'm not adding the first 3 because I wasn't captivated at all with them, but this one...I loved it! I do however recommend all of Anita Stansfield's books. She is one of my favorite authors.
By the end of the series I really liked the books. I think that Anita Stansfield is a good author and really pulls you into her books with the characters.
