Rob Crosley is irritated when three people set up their chairs and umbrellas on what he considers his private beach. His irritation turns to concern when the three go for a swim and never return to collect their gear. He reports the disappearance to the police, which makes him part of the story. A waterproof camera washes up on shore containing not only images of the swimmers, but of Rob's wife, Katie. Did the swimmers drown? How is Katie involved?A search for answers involves good and bad cops, a reporter who tends toward hyperbole, intrusive cameramen, a drug smuggler, Rob's son who is training for the Olympics, and a local group who believe a woman who drowned 400 years before is still alive and well on Cape Cod.
Paul Ehrenreich grew up in Belmont, Massachusetts. He worked in the health care and real estate industries, where he made enough money to retire early and write full time, or most of the time. He lives in Bethesda, Maryland and Truro, Massachusetts with his wife and their dog.
Highly recommending this one !👍👍 ...This is mystery unlike any other I've ever read....and I had no idea how things would play out .....I was kept guessing the whole time till the end. I also loved Rob ....the everyman who is the star this story ,he felt like a good long time neighbor . Actually all the characters are very well defined here and you can like them or not ....or be on the fence about them ...they are all pretty " real " .I won't give my opinion on any more of them because I don't want to spoil the read for anyone ...except Sidney the dog ...because ...well ...I love dogs and he is a star in this novel in his own right. ...So if you are in the mood for an excellent mystery plot that's not of the ordinary variety and plays out like it could happen in your neighborhood ...go Out With The Tide. I am a big fan of originality and this fits the bill nicely.Kudos on the cover too.🐕 .........🍗(read the book to understand this emoji lol)

This was a good mystery, a little slow at the beginning but picked up. It's basically about 3 swimmers that goes missing and the man who reports it. Rob and his wife Kate live in different houses, across from on another at the beach. Kate has developed a people phobia so her husband and son deal with it as best they ca. On one of Kate's outings in her canoe she is spotted by someone in a fanatic group of women searching for a woman who fell, jumped, or was pushed off the mayflower 400 years ago.
There is way more going on at the beach then swimming, and someone thinks they found an ingenious way to cover up the dark dealings of the town. I really can't say much more , except Rob and Kate's son Dan lives with Rob, and is training for the olympics. The rest you must find out for yourself. I liked it but didn't love it, it was more a 3.75 stars but we don't have that option.
I was given this book in exchange for a fair but honest review, all opinions are my own, and not influenced by anything other the how I feel about the story and my own moral values/
HYC Book Club I enjoyed this book. It’s always fun to read something that is set in the area where you live. This book had a little bit of everything and I love a good mystery. It’s a little out there with the Dorothy Bradford Society and its mission, but overall it is wildly entertaining. Should make for a great book club discussion next month.
For those who are local to the Cape, these quotes has me laughing out loud:
“This was why no one on the Cape was ever on time. People loved to talk. And they would talk at great lengths about anything, regardless of what they were doing or where they needed to be.”
“The drive home had been a long hard slog through the vehicular chaos on Route Six.”
Rob is irritated when 2 women and a man set up in the same spot daily, until the day they left their things and never came back, he waits a day and then calls the police, while he is also limping because a bad poison ivy attack. Rob’s wife is afraid of people, all people including her husband and adult son. When a camera washes up on shore with pictures of the missing people and of Rob’s wife in her boat a group thinks she is a woman named Dorothy who jumped ship 400 years ago. They are determined to make contact with her, causing Rob to go to their meeting. A rather surprising ending.
Novel mystery that's very well written, witty and, I think, pretty accurately portrays life here on Cape Cod. Think of it as a novel with a mystery enclosed. A historical personage from the Mayflower, sharks, poison ivy...and seeking solitude during the summer tourist season. And anxiety, and Provincetown...loved it, couldn't put it down!
