4.25⭐️ Porter x Mahogany

Those 2 were total opposites lol Porter is an older business man worth millions of dollars. Mahogany is a scammer, D-list rapper, waitress, stripper who is just trying to survive taking care of her brother and son (sort of). They met at the strip club and Porter comes right on in and helps her with her goals of becoming an A list rapper. The chemistry between them was off the charts. Porter has baggage though & it's heavy.

The prologue had me hooked!!!!!!!! After that it went a little slow but picked up and then dragged. So the pacing of the story was kind of eh. I will say the ending was rushed :(

I'm just starting to go through Nako's catalog. I should've started at The Connects Wife but I'm going to double back after I read this series. There were people mentioned who I'm sure she has written books about them so I def need to start at the beginning.

I appreciated the story on Mahogany and Porter! The way Porter dated with intention was a choice and he chose to meet Mahogany where she was in life. I respect it. Nako does not believe in peace because there was a few times I was worried about these two!

‘Never would have made it…’

Mahogany Sinclair is beautiful, strong, loyal, gifted, yet burdened down with the thread of remaining faithful and tenacious in her aspirations and obligations to those who loves or loved. Porter Bavay is on top of the world but carrying the weight of yesterday saturated with a guilt that surpasses the natural imagination. Porter was ‘the man’ in the music world, he conquered the thug life and used his knowledge to legitimize an empire that he heralded with authority…until one fateful day when his entire world catapulted with tragic loss of life. After Porter’s sabbatical of misery, and he’s pushed to re-enter the land of the living, he re-emerges with astonishment that he wasn’t the only one with struggles and strife. A night with the fellas is the instrument of collision for Mahogany and Porter…seemingly miniscule until her beauty and feistiness overshadowed her career path…leaving her etched in the recesses of his mental rolodex. Family is the decorative centerpiece for this love song, yet the different aspects constantly pull you out of comfort zones as the layers of this couple are revealed…one intricate seam at a time.

Mahogany is a compelling novel evolving around two determined, yet damaged individuals that have a love unfathomable as they usher in emotions that neither thought that they would ever experience again. I commend Nako for her natural ability to develop enchanting love stories filtered with realistic characters and life experiences that consistently evoke a “Wow” moment a time or two. Mahogany was an enchanting read that I would highly recommend. If I have one ‘con’ it would be that there were a few loose threads, with information disclosed. I must admit that Nako impresses me immensely with the manner she delves into the spiritual, I enthusiastically applaud you for this inspirational stamp that you align in your work. Also the excellence that you execute with each complete read in the midst of your series. Wonderful workmanship in so many arenas!!! 4.68

Book was good but some things were missing

Book was good but it wasn’t great which is why I gave 3 stars. It kept me engaged and the story was good but that was it. The ending was RUSHED, Epilogue has holes in it and the overall story had things missing. Like it would talk about an incident but skip right through it sometimes leaving you confused. I want Nako to put the same energy she put into the first few books of the Underworld Series in her other releases. Book was better than the typical urban repetitive, unoriginal releases out today but still lagging compare to what I know Nako can write.

A page turner

This is one of those books where even though you don’t necessarily love the characters, they’re so eminently human and flawed and they grow so much in the story that you can’t put this down. Featuring former scammer currently down on her luck, Mahogany, and entertainment industry mega mogul, Porter, who find each other at a low point (Mahogany on her last dime with multiple responsibilities and Porter recovering from a devastating tragedy) who fall in instalove, this is a compelling story of grace and the redemptive power of love.

To call this instalove sort of undersells the journey that Porter and Mahogany have to go through to get it together. Even at the end, you don’t get the sense of a fantasy HEA but rather of two people not just in love, but who are committed to each other and wanting the best for each other. I really enjoyed this and am very excited for this series!

This is the first book I've read from this author and it was a good read but there were things I liked and disliked about this story. I enjoyed the characters. Porter and Mahogany were great together, even though there was a lot of back and forth between the two, there was never a dull moment with them. Mahogany was a handful but their story was steamy with a few surprises, drama and so much more. One of my major problems with the story was that the pace of it was so slow. Even though there was a lot going on the story, it moved at such a slow pace that a lot of things just seemed to drag on and on and I found myself losing interest but I wanted to finish the story because I had to know how it ends. However, with that being said the pace of this one didn't leave me wanting to read the next book in this series although I am happy that I did give this book a try. It was worth reading but I just wish it moved a little faster.

As always Nako nailed it 💯

I will follow her to the end, but reading this book was challenging because of the poor editing, if it was every now and then that's tolerable, it was all through the story, with that said, it was excellent reading, the story line was perfect, at times I couldn't put the book down, I admire the way she captured that everything in life doesn't turn out ok for them, but they still persevered, there were sad moments and outcomes, but Nako shows you life as it is, and I thank her for that👌

As always it’s great to catch up with the other characters. I love Porter !!! He was definitely everything. Mahogany definitely got her life bosses up . She deserved it though.

Mahogany, yes

The story was a little different for me. I liked the idea of the story. A little editing would have increased the rating.

Different, slow in the beginning, but it was good....

It took me a little bit to get in this story, but afterwards it was a hit for me... MS. Nako did it again!
Porter and Mahogany, ouf!!! What a couple. I mean, they were so different, so opposite and so spaces a part, I didn't think they would have come together...
Porter was a true boss man. His boss man was different than what MS. Nako has so far present us with, but he changed his life a round, and he became the legit Boss man with all of the connections. An alpha male to the core but also a very childish, insecure man and all throughout the story, I couldn't wait to see when he was going to grow up. He finally did,but not without putting me in a funk attitude towards him.
Mahogany herself, from the beginning was getting on my last nerve. She was so rude, so ratchet, so hood, so uneducated, yet MS. Nako tried to show us how these impairs couldn't put her down and keep her down. Mahogany knew what she wanted, and did everything to get it, except selling her soul, and this right here was what gave this story a 5 star.
If it was any other author, it would have take me a little bit to get this story, but coming from this author, I knew it was going to be good; and although it started out different, it was good, very good in fact. MS. Nako was able to present us with a different thinking as to not everything is pink and roses and sometimes, the black rose or other colors are actually not too bad to learn and get to know.
This story was truly a wake up call in that not everything is in the same cookie cutter that society like to put us in. This story shows, the problems, triumph and tribulations that ones goes thru the make it happen. You always have to keep your head high and keep grinding with your head held high and keep pushing forward.
As usual, MS. Nako will always gives us the spiritual attributes to wanting GOD in our lives. Thank you because every time I read one of your books. I go back to my talking to GOD more often....

Real Love!

Porter was a work-a-holic. He never wanted to be broke again after his struggles growing up. Kim his model wife wanted him and his attention to her and the kids. One plane ride changes Porters life and he retreats back to Paris after leaving NYC immediately! Two years later he returns to NYC after learning his company is going down. Mahogany is recovering from a broken relationship , taken care of her son and brother. She was ta this music career but trying to make ends meet takes her down a road that she sis not to go on. One night stripping gives one man the opportunity to meet her. Porter is smitten and determined to make her his. Through trial and tribulations, trust and most important God their journey will be crazy and long. People from their pasts return and though Mahogany and Porter are falling in love they have a lot to work on personally. Love , forgiveness, trust. I love once again how Nako incorporated friends from other stories to her newest masterpiece ! This story touched me for my own personal experiences. Loved Porter for being who he was. Jill is a hater and needs to check her emotions. Look at Mo n Teka! Loved how slowly Mahogany came out of her shell. She hung with some bosses! Loved how Munch and Juice came together. Once again Nako never ceases to amaze me! I cannot wait for Carnens story ..it started with a blast!!!

3.5🌟
I love Nako and truly think she is an annoyed writer. Usually, reading her books is like going to churches there were a couple of great quotes from scripture. But this book just didn’t hit the mark for me.

It was a long read and also a slow burner.

Mahogany was d-list rapper from the hood that gets discovered by Porter the big time businessman/music mogul when she is really going through a difficult time. Porter is dealing with major tragedy at the time they meet. They are from two very different worlds but end up falling for each other. Yara’s interference caused a rift between the couple. Porter’s response was over the top and Mahogany forgave him too quickly. She bowed to him too much.

It did feel at times that Porter was trying to change Mahogany to make her less hood even though he said that her goodness was appealing. There was just something missing from this book that I couldn’t understand. I persevered with it and it did get better but ultimately not one of Nako’s best in my opinion.

Love is challenging and work in progress!

I never thought Porter and Mahogany would work because of their differences, and as I was reading I wanted their love to survive which it did. I did wondered how he proposed to her and at which point did he ask her to marry him, (just curious)😍. But their story is every day life real struggles in relationships. And I liked how you made it so relatable to real life. This story was a true eye opener that love can happen to those we deemed to not fit. For instance Jillian, she was a bitter person who low keyed loved Porter, and stayed in her feelings. Genesis who thought Porter wasn’t good enough for his sis, and after cus of her beauty. The book was absolutely lovely! Now when I read the next insert book about Carmen, I was shocked, and can’t wait to read the story. Thank you Nako, for always grinding and putting out the best books I ever read, and believe me I have read every book you put out. You never disappoint. ❤️❤️❤️

‘She was already his home. In between her thick, succulent thighs is where he found a peace so sweet & serene. She was love. She was his breath of fresh air. She was an answered prayer on any given Sunday.’
—————————————
Porter Bavay & Mahogany Sinclair took me for a ride that I did not want to get off of. I was GLUED to this book & did not want to put it down. I have a special place in my heart for books that allow me to get lost in the characters and feel what they’re feeling. My emotions were tugged on. I felt Porter’s grief from a loss that most wouldn’t make it through. I felt the heaviness of life that Mahogany was dealt. I felt the love that blossomed between these twin flames & it was beautiful to read. It wasn’t easy, but they had a love that was worth fighting for.

‘They were two willing individuals with enough faith between the two of them to see where love took them and so far, they were high in the skies.’

Mahogany The Overcomer 👑

This book was so freakin delicious i was angry it was taking me so long to read 😡 every free minute i had within the last 3 days i have been reading Mahogany! Mahogany’s triumph return to the music industry was awesome, but her overcoming everything that was threw at her was life! I didn’t want to see some of the older characters return because i read this with fresh eyes & wanted it to see how the author has evolved, even though the older characters was needed to tie things together. I was happy to see YQ back on the scene but then Yara had me looking at her side ways 🤦🏼‍♀️ I cried, sung, clapped & awwww while reading this book. P is BAE 🥰 Mahogany is on her Yonce ish 👸🏽 So Nako i have one question is Lil Kareem P’s son????? Inquiring minds want to know 🤔 Great Read Guys 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Loved it.

Porter just needed love from a young fiery person.his wife was older first of all and she did her thing and snatched that young man up to give her some kids she couldn't carry. I think he loved his kids but wasn't in with the marriage like h claimed to be. His wife did her dirt too just wasn't caught until the end. Mahogany needed to trust someone to love her she needed to be and was down with her totally. She had so many set backs from family and friends that she had a wall up for anyone who tried to help her.porter was the peace they both needed to get through their last relationships. I loved the ending also it was what she needed to get past the hurt for hakeem.

Very different from what I’m used to..

Wow, what a read! It was an emotional journey, but Mahogany and Porter were two of the strongest, resilient, individuals I’ve had the pleasure of reading about. Porter, oh my God, this man, my heart broke for him over and over again during this book! Why the man have to struggle like that, what person can live through all that. Mahogany was just what the doctor ordered. She was independent and expressed multiple times that she didn’t need saving or to be taken care of and she wasn’t with Porter for an easy come up.

Loved this book but there were a lot of characters that I wasn’t familiar with that I felt were in a previous book that I must have missed by this being my first read by this author.

Just Okay

This story was just okay to me. For some reason, I couldn't picture Mahogany in my mind and usually, I can get that from the author's description. I found her to be ungrateful and difficult but she did right by Kareem and Genesis. My favorite character was Juice. I thought out of all the characters, he was the most humble. Mia, Yara and Carmen were supposed to be spiritual but came off as bougie to me. P seemed confused as far as his feelings for his wife. I wasn't really feeling his character because he seemed like a selfish person. He wanted his friends and workers to be like him. Who just leaves their business for so long and expects it to be successful? It was still an entertaining read and so I would recommend this book.

I didn’t expect anything less!

Every time I start a new Nako read, I ask myself are you ready to meet someone else? Yes, I’m that reader that gets attached to the characters. So when I see Mahogany, I’m like nah not ready yet. I see Juice, and I convince myself that it’s time. Nako does it AGAIN. she’s wicked with a pen. Inspiration. I could relate to Mahogany on a few intimate levels. The obstacles on her life path. God saw her thru with Porter being right beside her. Porter’s spiritual journey, shined a light in a corner of my life. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. The end, perseverance.

Excellent read!

This is only the second book that I’ve read by Nako, but I really enjoyed this one. I had a lot going on personally, so it took me a little longer than usual to read it but Porter and Mahogany really balanced each other out. They both could have probably used some counseling in their life. Jillian irked my nerves to the core. She was so in love with Porter and jealous of Mahogany to the point that it was sickening. I was love to read more about them and find out what happened to Kareem and Rakeem

LOVED IT

Another masterpiece by Nako that will surely grab your attention. Great storyline and the character development was amazing. I loved reading every single page of the story. Porter and Mahogany both rough around the edges, from different parts of the world somehow develop a connection that was so hard to break regardless to what others may have thought and said about them. They were each others peace, comfort and reason for a fresh start at life. Beautiful story and can't wait for Book 2 of the Love Drought Series.

Great Read!

Conflicts, sex, Love, you name it and it’s part of this story. This writer is quite the story teller. Pretty P and his lady Mahogany had no easy road to HEA. Their past, and future was more like hopeful ever after. They didn’t always get the end result they(or this reader)were seeking but they continued to work and continued to love whether in the same space physically or not. Looking forward to the next books about them and their crew. Hopefully they will include tidbits with updates on this couple.

Mahogany: The 💘 Drought Series

Mahogany Sinclair was a scam artist and booster but she wanted to turn her life around. She worked as a waitress in the diner and a stripper in the club. That's where she met Porter (P) Bavay and he relentlessly pursued her. Giving her cars, 💰 and even a 🏡 P took Mahogany under his wing and management company.

She reached her goal of becoming a respectable entertainer in the music business, winning 3 Grammys, 7 Billboard Music Awards and 2 #1 Albums in just one year. All of the characters are well developed with overlapping stories. I plan to read the next 📖 in this 3-part series.

A true love story ❤ 💕 💗

This book is kind of heavy but it is Well written. I enjoyed the two main characters Porter the young man who trying to recover from a devastating loss. Then you have Mahogany a young woman who is carrying the weight of the world on her shoulder and is doing everything she can to keep her family together. Porter and Mahogany these two people prove that anything can happen if you work hard enough even at love. This is my first time reading this author it definitely won't be my last.

instant connection

I don’t know who was more Bossy- Mahogany or Porter lol. At first I was skeptical of Porter and his grief but I really loved the way they poured into each other and was peace for one another. Loved how Porter poured into Mahogany to help her reach success. Mahogany was definitely a work in progress for sure but i had to remember she was young & had gone through alot. I loved the way she parented and even Porter stepped in with no problem. I like seeing the way their relationship grew.

Great

The story was great, I really liked all the characters and can't wait to read them in the upcoming stories in the series. I would like to see the next parts edited though. I cringed with each mistake- ie. P being a widow. Women are widows men are widowers an editor should know that. I don't think it was a typi9because I saw it more than once in this book. Overall the book was good.
