About the author

Jahnna N. Malcolm is the pen name for husband-and-wife team Jahnna Beecham and Malcolm Hillgartner. Together they've written four musicals, two movies, three CD-ROM games, and nearly one hundred books, including the popular series The Jewel Kingdom. They met in the theater and were married on the stage using Marlowe's famous love letter from "The Passionate Shepherd to His Love" as their wedding vows.

Another review for the whole series. This is my favorite.

I read these books as a kid and LOVED them. Emily was my favorite, followed closely by Sabrina. The morals are simple to understand, the illustrations were cute, and I loved the girls dearly.

Because of this particular book, I became obsessed with riddles. I loved this one the most.

Much like "The Sapphire Princess Hunts for Treasure," this one dials down the stakes by not having Lord Bleak or his influence appear at all, which continues a nice break. Arabell is a fun character to complement Emily, and their friendship is very fun. While the twists at the end are fairly predictable, the mental imagery of the fairies' realm and the pathway to get there are just a delight.

That said, what do you MEAN all the eyes in the tunnel belonged to ONE creature? And I feel like we need some justice for Digger, who was just trying to do his job.

Love fairies!! Emily is slightly more annoying to me than the other Princesses b/s she bulldozes over Arabell a few times, but otherwise, quite an adventure to Fairyland!

The Emerald princess found a fairy that ran away because she thought that her parents didn't love her any more.

Did she help the fairy or not? Well she did. She took the fairy back to fairyland and they became best friends.

If your child can read at this level it would be a good book. A fun beginning fantasy series. The plot lines are simple and easily solved with not too much of the dark side of fantasy.
