Yep, I'm still liking the relationship between the characters. Alice and Orland both have their issues, but as I said about the prior volume I think they are sincere about both their actions, feelings and motivations. Whether they are a OTP is up for debate.
Because of the psychological damage Orland has endured he might not be capable of much more than friendship, and admiration for Alice. Alice on her part, pretty much shuts herself off from relationships because of a devotion to duty.
Yes, the duel is still going on.

This entire volume takes place at the ball where there's a peasant uprising against the nobles. It's pretty brilliant the way the action moves from scene to scene, cutting back and forth among the characters, increasing the suspense. There's a lot of fighting, but it's talking fighting, so plot and character development continues in the process. It feels like the series has been building to something like this and it really delivers!

Sad that I only own up to volume 4. :(
I'm fascinated by the idea of a shonen manga focused on war relief and reconstruction.
This volume hasn't really furthered the overarching plot much, at least, not that I can tell, which makes me sad. Maybe I'm just impatient.
Still really love the corporal and the lieutenant. 💖 They're both so passionate, in their own ways, about Section III's mission and a future after war!
Don't like Alice's fiancé. He's kinda boring.

it's hard to pin down what makes this series so great - maybe it's just the concatenation of its elements - clean visuals to a judicious mix of comedy and horror to a post-medieval world with a twist. (alright, it's kind of like full metal alchemist, and maybe i just really like the dog. and the sergeant.)

I like the premise of this series, and even many of the characters, but I keep thinking it lacks something, and I can't tell exactly what. On the other tentacle, I'm still reading it after four volumes.
