Unlike their namesakes in the wild, the bears in this collection are decidedly sexier. Assembled by noted editor Richard Labonté, these tales take readers on a tantalizing tour of a gay subculture that's sweet and raunchy -- and sometimes both at once. Written by the most popular authors in the field of queer male erotica, these stories showcase bears and bear-lovers exulting in the pleasures of scruffy beards, hairy chests, burly bodies, and belly-to-belly sex unfettered by social constrictions.
i read a lot of books. i review many of them. i edit many anthologies. i edit technical writing so it reads more like real english. i live on a small island with a man and a dog (tiger-lily, r.i.p). once upon a time, i was a bookseller.
There are some downright bad stories and poorly written ones in this anthology which greatly diluted my reading experience. Several others were alright and two or three quite good. Overall, I would say that there stars is a generous rating whereas two-and-a-half is much more accurate.
In this anthology some stories stand out among the rest as well written and very erotic, the rest are forgettable but that's to be expected in any collection. Overall, it's still a good read and I recommend it.
Not normally something I would pick up, but having a story appearing in A Taste of Honey has made me wonder as to what else is out there and I'm curious how they compare in style.
