Rate this book
Kipling's four productive years in Vermont comprise one of the most fascinating chapters in American literary history. Murray tells the tale with a splendid selection of Kipling's poems which help to bring his subjects to life. His generous use of quotations from letters, diaries, the press, and sundry other sources puts the reader personally into the vivid tapestry of the most productive period in the life of this world-renowned poet, novelist, teller of children's tales, essayist, and proud father. - John A. Wallace, former Director of the School for International Training, Kipling Road, Brattleboro, Vermont

This short Biography of Rudyard Kipling covers the time just before and the 4 years he lived with his family just outside Brattleboro Vermont. It was at once a peaceful and productive time for him as it was there that he wrote the Jungle Book among others and a trying time as his family relationship with his brother-in-law became more contentious as time went on, leading to charges and a court case. I am not much of a reader of Biographies but I found this one to easy and interesting. And I had no idea the he had actually lived in the states muck less just a little distance from where ling in New Hampshire. If you can find it, give it a try.
