The Truth will set you free, but what happens when the Truth is a Lie?
Rhona and her paladin brother Alastar belong to a holy people who have waged war on witches and warlocks and their clans from the highlands.
(You'll save money on The Hidden Magic Chronicles Boxed Set because it includes four amazing books at a great bundle price.)
But when she uses magic to save his life, their world is thrown upside down.
On the run, having left all they knew behind they have to rely on those who hate Paladins. All magic is evil, the High Paladin taught... But Alastar starts to understand that he might have been misled.
If his sister uses magic, and she isn't evil...what does that mean for his beliefs?
Brother and sister soon find themselves aligned with magic users and thrown in with the clans in a war against sorcerers and paladins alike, with only one hope of uniting the land--the legendary Sword of Light.
It was lost years ago, and quest after quest by the holy paladins could not retrieve it. When you know the truth about magic... anything is possible.

JUSTIN SLOAN wrote video games before becoming a full-time author, with credits on such games as Game of Thrones, Tales from the Borderlands, Walking Dead, and Marvel and mobile games. Now you can find his military science fiction and space superheroes books on Amazon, KU, and Audible.com. He taught Muay Thai kickboxing and Marine Corps Martial Arts, and can play three songs on the bagpipes. Justin holds advanced degrees in international relations/economics and creative writing. Oh, and he acted in movies for a bit - all small roles though.
Audiobook review. I really like Mr. Sloan's and Mr. Anderle's stories in general. However, I struggled with this audiobook. For one, this story feels like a blend of medieval times (king, armor, clans, & names like Alister) and fantasy with magic. The medieval component just really threw me for a loop that I could not get past. Though I really liked the speed of the narrator's reading, his voice was meant for medieval books not the Kutherian Gambit Universe (modern/futuristic fantasy/scifi). With that being said, the story arc was well executed, the premise is interesting, the characters are likable and flawed but I just didn't like the mini series.
Clans wearing plaid, a King, Paladins, a goddess set on domination, and basic good vs evil. All set in a future where now humans have magic, although how this happened is not very well known by any of the inhabitants of this entertaining set of stories. Very entertaining especially if you like books filled with magic, swords, and war. Oh and be careful around the unicorn.
It's a good story. Good characters that are well fleshed out, and enough going on that it's an easy read. I like that different clans had different gifts and each individual had different levels of expertise. I also liked that they could think and plan outside the box, So that different situations brought out different strategies. Thanks, Nancy
Well done. Good world and character development. Most assuredly worth the read.
The actors of this tale are the folks in your family, friends, acquaintances, good or not, brought to life on the printed page. They are shown with their strengths allowing them to struggle for success or with their weaknesses to give up and fail.
I have to say Justin and Michael write very well together. This is the 2nd book series I have read with this team duo and I was not disappointed at all. Truly love this, great world building, wonderful characters, action packed and realistic. Truly flows and love this.
As I have said before all of these books are fantastic, I would rather read than eat or watch TV. All of these authors are the best pleasekeep writing, I just wish I was younger, now 72, hoping that I live longer. To read all in the future, it does not matter your age great stories. Just don't stop. Thank You ,All.
These books were a great read, lots of action, love, humor, and wit. Loved the way it highlighted how much bs is often at the core of some religious groups. And how it's necessary to use your own insight and judgement when deciding to believe in something.
The story is good, the characters are good, the writing is good and the consistency between books is good too. What's not to like? It's not highly complicated but I much liked the trilogy and recommend it for a light and enjoyable magic tale.
What a great fantasy series . How alaster and rhona came to be. From meeting foe to becoming friends and lots of personal battles inbetween. Loved book 3 the best. A massive twist in the family in the middle I didn't see coming .
I loved this it was the best read I’ve ever had,it had everything magic, warriors, love, betrayal, epic fight scenes you could imagine yourself in.Did NOT want this to end I’m exhausted though so a few days of before I look for my next adventure
Entertaining and enjoyable escapism. Just enough hints of dystopian circumstances to let you figure out the relationship to the current world. Some few implications of societal lessons but mostly just for fun.
Honestly I enjoyed the book but really felt like Mowain warranted a little more explanation. Her origins and why she thought she was a god with all the followers. I really loved Kia but hated she ended cowering down.
I loved all the characters I loved all the various segments of the lost isles coming together I even love the planning for further adventures, I just hope those now exist as I need more to read
