Rate this book
In this, the first book of an action-packed, futuristic series, the main character, Makiao searches for his father who he believes to be alive even though Makiao was raised in an orphanage. Makiao lives on the planet Arcterra, which was discovered and settled after it was determined that more resources were needed to sustain the growing human population. Once the brave Pioneers were able to settle the new planet it was quickly realized, that this planet belonged to another alien race. This started a war over the planet that has been ongoing for 50 years. The year is 2170 and Makiao is being raised in an orphanage which supplies trained soldiers to the military. On his 18th birthday he will be shipped off on his first assignment. The adventures begin when he decides to escape from the orphanage, two days before this first assignment. Makiao meets a group of friends who are willing to help him try to find his father. On their journey the group use their many talents and advanced technology to defend themselves from life threatening enemies on both sides of the war. Uncovering some clues they believe they are well on their way.

I first time author with an imagination. An easy read even for the non sci-fi lovers. Great for adults looking for a quick intrigue or pre teen/teen book lovers. The story line is easy to follow and keeps you wanting to find out more. Book 1-7 and I’m excited to read the rest when they release

I won’t lie, I didn’t finish this despite it consisting of fewer than 200 pages. I did get 90 pages in, but in my opinion, there just isn’t enough meat on this carcass to whet my appetite. No characterization, the motivation for the adventure is weak, the point of view changes as often as the paragraphs and, for a novel set in the late 22nd century, the technology / culture hasn’t really progressed a lot except for humanity’s ability to navigate space (seemingly it takes mere hours to travel from one planet to another). Sorry, I want to support local authors, but I can’t if the work is incoherent and pointless.

First few chapters for me were tough to get into (I feel that's more my issue then the book itself how ever). Once I got through that though this story took off and I was locked in! Really looking forward to a sequel, or sequels. Great story, great characters, and lots of action!
