This wasn't Odin's torture chamber, which smelled like blood and felt like the end. It wasn't the med bay, with its dull green light and raw
wounds. This was the world welcoming her back, caressing her battered skin, dizzying her with its endlessness.
Tanya walked, slowly, feeling the floor like a mountain path under her bare feet, closer to the edge of the roof. Every step told her that she
was still alive, that she had made it through the worst of her nightmare. Her black eyes caught the shimmering edge of the sun then, and she
cracked a smile.
Carmen and Moja exchanged a glance. They had never seen Tanya smile like that.
It looked like hope.

Tanya and Moja are back from Odin's private retreat, but neither of them are truly safe in the Sakaei Headquarters. Tanya knows there was foul play involved in their capture, and her priority is getting her loved ones away from the Elders as soon as possible.
