I read this book for a book club at the school I teach at. Right away, the author and illustrator did a great job at drawing me in. The book uses a unique approach, especially for a professional development book! It uses comics to kick off each of six focus points: relationships, student centered teaching, motivating students, innovation, technology, and professional growth. Each chapter highlights a common pitfall in today's schools and then offers solutions to these. The author has middle school teaching experience, but I felt that I could relate to much of the book as a primary school teacher too. Throughout the book, there is a good mixture of humor, realism, and encouragement for all teachers. There is also a blurb for each section offering ideas for administrators.

This was an interesting book. I thought it would be done as a graphic novel throughout but it gives a story and a section to reflect on. This would be a good book for an on going P.D. program.
